Extended-wear never felt so good!

The Tantus Ryder lived-up to all the hype of its best reviews for me. As a relative-newbie to anal play, I didn't find it difficult or uncomfortable to wear for extended periods, and it has withstood the test of time.
Published: November 27, 2011
Pros:
Comfortable, stays put, fits and feels well, great for extended play sessions
Cons:
Base could be too thin for some users

Use

My favorite thing about the Ryder is that it remains comfortable and in-place even during extended-wear sessions of 1-2+ hours. While other plugs would tend to slip out after 20 to 30 minutes of usage, the Ryder remains snug, secure, and almost undetectable to the wearer once they become accustomed to it.

Material / Texture

The Ryder is made out of 100% pure silicone through and through, so it can be easily-sterilized. It's smooth and very firm with just enough give and flexibility to shape itself to your posterior.
    • No odor

Design / Shape / Size

The Ryder's shape is what first caught my eye and set it apart from its contenders. The tip is slightly wider than traditionally-shaped plugs, but this does not hinder insertion much in my experience. However, it does mean that once the tip is in you don't have that extended period of trying to work your way up to the "neck" of the plug. I would assume that it is this steeper taper along with the lengthened neck and flat base that makes the Ryder stay put as well as it does.

When I first began using my Ryder however, I was carrying about 80lbs more on my frame than I am now; and it seemed as though the base felt slightly-flimsy - like it might be in danger of slipping inside with the rest of the toy. This never occurred, thankfully and has not happened since the first few uses.

Performance

I normally use my Ryder after I've already freshened-up with my Colt Anal Douche. With just a dab of water-based lube on my rear and a little on the toy, I'll lay on my side with one leg up to slip it in. Once inside, the Ryder gives a wonderful filling sensation and stays put for up to hours at a time with no discomfort. It does an excellent job of keeping you warmed-up and ready for anal sex, and once your body has become accustomed to it, the Ryder makes for some very fun thrusting play.

If you're wearing the plug for more than 1-2 hours though, you will most likely need to rinse the toy off and re-apply lube. This is especially so when nature decides to call.
    • Comfortable
    • Easy to use

Care and Maintenance

Since the Ryder is made of 100% silicone, it can be cleaned-off easily enough with mild soap and water or toy-cleansing wipes. It can even be sterilized with a 10% bleach solution or by boiling it in a pot of water.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

  • Can we get more toys in Copper?
    • The Ryder in Copper is so pretty. I'd love to see more toys offered in this colour. :) Is that likely to happen at all? I haven't seen it on any other listing. Is this colour discontinued?

Yes, it sure has been discontinued. It was weird - Copper was a slow seller, and we got some feedback from retailers that it wasn't at all popular. Then when we discontinued last Spring it got snapped up pretty quickly. I only have closeouts left, but we're hoping that by discontinuing Copper we'll have more time in the production schedule to pursue other colors.
    • Glow in the dark? That's my favorite color! Maybe something black light reactive?

  • Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?
    • Why should you never use silicone on a silicone toy?
    • Some, not all silicone lube will 'stick' to silicone material. I have read that some premium silicone lubes will work with some premium silicone materials. You can try some on the base and see, when I last tried it kinda etched the silicone material. (does that make sense) It left a indentation were the lube was.

That's the basics, Some of the other members can give a more technical answer.
    • Some silicone lubes will bond to some silicones. This seems to be more of an issue the softer the silicone is, so toys like O2 and VixSkin will be more susceptible (makes sense, as the silicone has fewer crosslinks). Quality lubes seem to have less of a problem also, and it is likely that cheaper silicones might have more of a problem.

I have tested quality silicone lube on several quality silicone toys and did not notice a permanent problem, but (a) the toys developed "hives" that lasted for a few hours (was gone the next day) and (b) it's really hard to clean the silicone lube off of the toys, but it can be done. While this is purely subjective, but it seemed that the silicone lube wasn't as "lubey" on silicone toys. I don't use silicone lube on silicone toys anymore - it's just not worth the trouble.

  • Is this going to be in stock soon?
    • If you haven't noticed, I've been going over my wishlist (see the O2 discussion) and I've noticed that this plug that I've wanted forever isn't even in stock. Will it be restocked?
    • That's funny. Two of the toys that I want to purchase are out of stock as well. The Vixen Ryder and Johnny. Then I noticed that several Vixen products are out of stock at the moment. I wonder when all of these toys will be restocked.
