Fantastical Bubble Of Oz

I will admit, the Droplet is one of the cutest butt plugs I've seen. It could be that first toy when venturing into anal play. It even has a bullet with vibrations to boot! More advanced users should should look elsewhere though.

Use

I have to admit, when first gazing upon the Gum Drop Droplet (referred to as "Droplet" in this review) I thought of the Munchkins in The Wizard in Oz getting their freak on. It seems to almost belong in a kinky porn parody of the movie. Is it only me thinking this? Probably... but still! This little butt plug is vibrant! The product picture doesn't give it justice. Check this out:

It's one bright plug that reminds me of fantastical places and Puff the magic dragon. But I digress. This little guy is designed for anal play. The flared base makes it safe from getting lost in the body. The long neck (proportionally) does a pretty good job of staying in, and you could even use this little guy for a dual penetration experience with a partner. Also, while the pink may be a bit of an eyesore for some, the green is a more gender neutral color. The size of the plug is non-intimidating compared to almost every other plug out there. This makes it a good option for men interested in potential P-spot stimulation (P-spot toys made specifically for men tend to be a bit pricier than basic plugs, too)

What makes this plug a but different is that it has a mini bullet in its center. The center is hollow to allow the bullet to be placed. The vibrations usually aid in insertion and add an extra experience for both you and possibly a partner. This little Droplet is also discreet noise wise and is easy to travel with, so it's a great option for those who live with others.

Because this little guy is, well, little, he's only good for beginners, and probably a stepping stone for them. Advanced users will just look at this toy and go "where's the rest of it?" Trust me on this one, folks.

Material / Texture

The Droplet is made entirely out of Phthalate Free PVC. Phthalates are/were generally used as an additive to plastics to soften them and add durability to the product. Nowadays, they are being phased out in a lot of products because there is evidence that phthalates can cause hormonal issues and possible birth defects (found in mice and rats). So that's good news!

PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is one of the most common and produced plastics. Compared to other plastics, it's cheap and easy to mold. Overall, PVC is considered micro-porous. This means it will last longer and be more hygienic than other toys, such as jelly or rubber. It also means it's not able to be completely sterilized, but the rate of bacteria growing on it is much less so long as it is cared for. As a beginner toy, the rating is fairly good.

The texture of the Droplet is smooth, it is the interesting shape that changes it up. Still, the Droplet is beginner friendly in texture. The bullet is also smooth and made of plastic.

The Droplet does have an odor to it. It's noticeable, but only if you put your nose near it (or a couple of inches away). It's not so bad that it ruins the toy, and it fades after some washes. There is also a slight film on the inside of the toy when you remove the bullet. This too goes away after a wash or two.

This toy has some give. You can bend it because it is purely PVC. If you remove the bullet, the plug will become quite difficult (if not impossible) to put in. The neck of the toy is thin and flimsy, but having the bullet in gives enough stability for insertion.
    • Flexible
    • Light odor
    • Somewhat porous

Design / Shape / Size

The shape of the Droplet is kind of funky. The top part has a rounded point that tapers. Then that part cinches and is followed by a little bubble. It's not completely spherical. The bottom half of the bubble slims down a little toward the base. After that is the neck where the bullet is nestled. The base of the droplet is a long thin oval. The base will fit easily between the cheeks but still keep the plug from slipping in all the way.

The size of the Droplet makes it a good choice for beginners. It is small in all dimensions. It has a total length of 3.5 inches with an insertable length of a little over 2 inches. Here it is in comparison to some other plugs:

From left to right: Pencil, Droplet, The li'l end, Tristan 1.5 with bullet, gumdrop triple bubble.

The product page states that the circumference of the toy is 4.75 inches. This is inaccurate. For comparison, here's a picture of the Teneo Uno. The Uno is 4.75 inches in circumference.

You can see that the Uno is larger than the droplet. The Droplet probably a bit over three inches in circumference.

The Droplet is more geared toward beginners. Intermediate or advanced users could admire it for its cuteness at best. None of the dimensions are challenging for anyone but beginners.

The Droplet is pretty darn discreet. It is small and fits easily in the palm of your hand. You can easily put it in a purse or pocket if you wrapped it up in a cloth. The bullet turns on by turning the base of it, so it shouldn't accidentally turn on during travel. Either way, it's best to keep the little slip of paper in the battery cage that keeps the toy from accidentally turning on.

Performance

The Bullet of the toy is simple to use. The base of it has a little hard plastic loop on it. Twist that to turn the bullet on. The bullet is tiny, so it is not that strong. It gives buzzy vibrations at about 2 Vrooms. It's a nice choice for someone who wants to experience vibrations, but wants to ease into it. The vibrations can be felt and are pleasurable. If you are looking for a strong bullet, then you will be disappointed. The vibrations are basically just a nice extra in comparison.

The plug itself seems to stay in well. It has a long enough neck not to pop out easily. When inserting the Droplet, it's best to have the bullet in to make the toy firmer for pushing it in.

The Droplet is not really designed for long term wear. The shape of the base is friendly for long term wear compared to other plugs, but the bullet sticks out of the base of the plug. If you were to sit down, the base of the bullet might be felt. However, if you can get the plug so that the base is flush, it might be in deep enough that your butt cushions everything. It depends on the user and their anatomy, really.

The Droplet is not advertised as waterproof, so I assume it isn't. The plug itself could easily be used in the shower because it does not have any electrical parts. The Bullet doesn't have any failsafe for water, so would not use the bullet near water. The shape of the base doesn't allow for suction. The bullet uses watch batteries, which is never that great. Watch batteries tend to be weaker and run out faster than other batteries.

Care and Maintenance

Care for the Droplet is not horrible.

Soap and water is your best bet for cleaning the plug. It is best if you remove the bullet so it doesn't get wet. The bullet could be wiped down with cleaner. The bullet shouldn't get that messy because it is encased in the plug. Lubricant will be the main thing your cleaning off the bullet (as it will probably drip down beyond the base). The base of the bullet has some lines/ridges that might get debris, but this is minimal.

The plug by itself can be left in the sink to soak if you want. Put extra care in cleaning where the toy cinches, on each side of the bubble. Using a cloth with your nail will get anything out if you need. When storing, it is best to use a cloth because paper lint will stick to the toy if you wrap it in paper towel. The Droplet should be placed away from toys that are used vaginally, orally, etc. to limit the chance of it contaminating anything. In terms of lint, the Droplet does tend to collect some dust and hair. It is not obnoxious, but there. If anything, you can use a wet wipe just before use.

Now, since the plug cannot be boiled (it'd melt or warp) it won't be able to be sterilized. Here's the part where I'm supposed to say you should use a condom on the plug to keep it clean. You can do that, but it the condom will engulf the toy, make the condom tent, or otherwise cause some issue that will either make the toy difficult to use or control. Because the Droplet is meant for beginners, this toy can be viewed more as temporary. This isn't a toy you keep for years. So long as you are consistent with cleaning this toy after every use it should last you a while. Ultimately, the choice is yours.

Both silicone and water based lubricant can be used with the Droplet.

Packaging

The packaging for the Droplet was a clear plastic box with a clear front so you can see the toy. The packaging is by no means discreet. The back of the box advertises the toy and lists all the properties of the toy (vibrating bullet, removable, shape, etc). The packaging is not intended for long term storage.

Instructions came with the bullet, but it was weird. It appears that Doc Johnson uses these instructions for multiple toys because nothing is specific to the Droplet. All the diagrams refer to AA or AAA batteris for the most part. It's not all that helpful, but it does contain basic safety when using batteries. It also comes in 6 different languages.

Personal comments

This little Droplet is cute. If I have a friend who expresses interest in anal play, I will probably suggest the Droplet as a possibility. Because it's not silicone, it's not able to be sterilized. But the good thing is that silicone lubricant can be used, which is a great option for those who prefer longer lasting lubes and the ability to use plugs in the shower. Every material has its pros and cons.

Warm up for this toy is easy, and depending on your experience, not completely essential (after lubing up, of course!) While some can just pop the Droplet in, others might find better success warming up with a finger first and then moving to the Droplet.

All in all, this is a cute little plug with a vibrant color.

Experience

This was an assignment offered to me, and since I have experience with anal toys, I figured I could give a solid review on it. Now, how does this toy apply to me? Personally, it's the cutest plug I've owned. The Tristan is pretty, but I wouldn't call it cute. Calling a butt plug cute makes me think it's on the smaller side, and that is NOT true with Tristan.

The Droplet probably won't stay long in my collection. Or I may keep it but relegate it to the "purgatory" box. Again, I like it, bur functionally it's not there for me. It's not large enough to suit my needs. If anything, this toy is a good size for my partner. As he has interest in prostate stimulation, he might find this toy a good option for him.
Follow-up commentary
This is a cute little toy, but it's just not for me. The size is nice for warm up, but I'm not a fan of the material and I wish I could sit while wearing it. It's still a great beginner's option though.

Excellent review, it is much smaller than the Uno, that's a wonderful comparison photo as well as the size compared to the other plugs. It sure helps visualize the size. Thank you!
