Freshen-up reliably without much fuss!

The Colt Anal Douche has become an integral part of our play routine. It cleans effectively and easily despite being a little awkward to use at first. It has held-up to regular usage over the past two years and shows little to no sign of wear. If it were to ever go missing or become unusable, I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Use

Some may prefer or recommend using a cleansing solution like this one in the shower. I, however, have no troubles using the Colt Anal Douche while on the toilet. Simply run a sink full of lukewarm water, and (with the smaller nozzle attached) fill the bulb from the sink. Whilst seated upon the throne after business has concluded, apply a dab of lube, insert the nozzle, and squeeze the bulb. After withdrawing the nozzle, I recommend emptying the rest of the bulb into the loo behind you before expelling the rest of the water and waste out of yourself.

Herein enters the potential problem, however. Such a "dance" does require some measure of coordination and hand strength that may prove difficult for some users. The bulb itself is very sturdy, which requires some hefty pressure to empty. Also, if you're careless with the angle of the nozzle (and you're not using the larger, more rounded attachment) the tip can press against your insides, making emptying the bulb even more difficult. Using the larger slip-on nozzle on top of the smaller one mitigates this trouble somewhat, but it also makes for more steps and cleanup of the device itself.

When using the larger nozzle you have to fill the bulb as mentioned above, then place the large nozzle on top, making sure that the screw-on tip is firmly in place. After you've emptied the bulb, you then have to remove the slip-on before filling again. However, some water will get trapped between the two nozzles, so it's best to remove it over the sink or the toilet.

Material / Texture

The bulb and "skirt" of the slip-on attachment are made of thick, resilient latex rubber. The nozzles themselves are plastic. The toy overall had no noticeable smell. The ribbed texture of the slip-on attachment is very smooth and pleasurable if you're into textured toys.

Design / Shape / Size

Since this "toy" is used as a prelude to anal play, it's important for it to be size-appropriate for all "levels" of users. I feel the Colt does an excellent job here. The base nozzle is very thin and should pose no problems to anal-play beginners. The slip-on attachment adds a little bit of length, girth, and texture to the toy for the more adventurous users.

Performance

I purchased the Colt two years ago, and I have found it to be a great performer for keeping me clean. One or two rinse cycles is usually enough for even the most prolonged play session. The only annoyance that has cropped-up is that the base nozzle sometimes has a tendency wiggle out of the bulb a centimeter or two after use. The nozzle still fits snugly and isn't in danger of sliding loose during normal usage, it just adds another step to the re-fill process from time to time.

Care and Maintenance

I've only ever used the Colt with water-based lubes, but silicone-based ones should work fine as well. Since the toy is made for expelling water, it doesn't get very dirty. A simple run-through of hot water and some soap or cleanser applied to the outside of the nozzles should suffice.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

Since it's been a couple of years since I purchased the Colt, I can't recall if it had anything in the way of instructions with it. The packaging, however, was the same as what is pictured on the product page. In case the muscle-bound model's backside doesn't spell it out well enough, the box unmistakably announces its contents in large letters.
    • Not discreet

Experience

Since I've become accustomed to using the Colt and developed a "system" over the past couple of years, freshening-up only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish for a thorough job.

I love the long-term perspective, and the 'use' section really explains a lot I would have wanted to know if I was considering this. Great job for a first review!

    • What is a good started toy?
    • Before using toys anally, you might want to practice with a finger, just to get yourself used to the sensation.

As for toys, it's best to start small. Something like this plug or a small dildo would work well (Eden has plenty to choose from, but these are my personal recommendations). The first anal toy I used was Flexi Felix, and while it's a wonderful toy for beginners, as the beads start very small and get larger gradually, the popping sensation that comes with removing them can be a little shocking if you aren't used to it (I loved it, hehehe!).

Go slow, use lots of lube, and if you feel pain, STOP and slow down or try again later. Anal tissues are delicate and can tear easily, so you have to be careful. You might want to try a lube shooter to help get lube up inside you more efficiently.

I guess I can give some advice about first-time products in this specific area. I'm a big fan for life-like materials and have been using them from the start, I have to say that with enough care and hygiene there is no need for the "bacterial" paranoia you might encounter here.

So that's the list of products I'd personally recommend:

This was the first product we have bought together with my Ex-Wife, in my opinion the best start but you grow out quickly:
Blush UR3 anal starter – probe

      The silicone alternative is:
      Sedeux Please

      To grow up I'd suggest:
      Pure Skin Player jr

      The silicone alternative is:
      VIP Super Soft

      For Butt Plugs:

The best training of all times (after you grow out of the beginners toys):
      Triple Ripple

Best Butt Plug (I guess many will agree):
      Ryder

And finally my personal favorite among plugs:
      Gapers Organic

Generally speaking that's my product advice. For lubes you have to look for yourself what suits you more. Just don't use silicone lube on silicone toys, it really kills them. The rest as usual, hygiene, foreplay, foreplay, lube -> and plenty of fun ;)

  • Is this messy?
    • I am interested in buying this but I have never done an anal douche. How messy is it? Do you end up with excess water coming out?

Water in = water out, in my experiences. I don't have this product in particular, but I'm a supporter of anal douching. Pretty much eliminates any surprises and boosts one's confidence. As far as messy, you should be good as long as you use over a toilet. Just make sure that you leave a few minutes for all the water to work its way out.

In the review I touched on that issue at the end:

In total I’ve used the product 5 separate times, 4 with the thin nozzle and 1 with the ribbed nozzle; every time the thin nozzle was used there was no mess, the one time the ribbed nozzle was used water ended up ‘leaking’ everywhere. That was enough for me to decide I didn’t like it. I haven’t tried the ribbed nozzle again and I don’t really intend to, not only was it messy, but contrary to what the box said, it wasn’t very ‘pleasurable’ either.

If you're using the thin nozzle it shouldn't be too much of an issue, but the ribbed one I'd suggest using in the tub just in case.
