Glo thick - butt plug discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Mikemanz

The Glo Thick plug by Doc Johnson is a brightly neon colored (I got the orange!), glow in the dark, BIG, butt plug. It seems bigger in my hand than it did in the pictures when I saw it online.



As an aside, I have to be careful, lately it seems my eyes have been bigger than my ass!

This plug is good for men and women, anyone with an appropriate hole to fill. And I do mean FILL! It's advertised as an anal plug, but I'm sure this could be used in a vagina if desired. It does have a wide flared base, so it is safe for anal use. Due to its plug shape it doesn't work as well if you're interested in an anal thrusting toy, though. Once inserted it tended to stay in well, because of the narrow neck. This one did slip out once, however, so I might think twice about wearing this out and about.

The Glo Thick is composed of a phthalate free PVC outer layer surrounding an inner, more pliable, gel like core. The toy is proudly Made in America. PVC is a relatively safe material; this stuff gets an eight out of ten safety stars on the Eden Fantasys scale. The toy has Doc Johnson's Sil-a-Gel added to the plastic when it is mixed. This is an antibacterial that is added to all Doc J toys that are made in the States. The inner core is clear and can be seen at the base of the toy. Even though the material has an antibacterial component added, one would be wise to cover this toy with a condom if it is shared with partners, or if going from anal to vaginal.



This inner core helps the plug to not be too stiff. This allowed for some give during insertion (phew!), but the toy quickly regains its full dimension when inserted. This lets its "fullness" shine through. So, while it does feel a tad bit squishy, it in no way retains any permanent deformation. The amount of give is minimal and it lasts only as long as pressure is being applied.

My wife really like the feel of this material. "Oooh", she said, "it feels nice!". The surface of the plug is very smooth and very shiny. The surface doesn't have much drag to it right out of the box, and no more or less lube than I would usually use was needed. The color is a vibrant neon! The Glo Thick does live up to its name (on all fronts) and will, in fact, glow in the dark. An eerie, floating, glowing orange! Kinda fun! It does have to be exposed to bright light to glow afterward, and the glow really didn't last very long, but it was still cool. The plug does have a smell like, well, like PVC rubber. Personally, I don't find this unpleasant, but your mileage may vary. The smell is not overwhelming, either. The plug has no obvious taste. (The things we reviewers will do for our readers!)

The shape of the Glo Thick is much like the shape of any traditional butt plug, perhaps just a bit more elongated. The tip is gently rounded and less than 3/4 of an inch wide to allow easy insertion. The body of the toy gradually increases to a maximum of 1 5/8" at the widest part. This occurs over a 3 1/4 inch length, so it really does increase slowly and gradually. This then quickly drops down to a neck diameter of just under one inch, which helps to hold the plug in place. I like the design of a neck that is narrow in comparison to the body of the plug. It has an overall length of 5 3/4" of which 4-5" is insertable, depending on how much of the neck goes in. The base is as wide as the widest part of the toy and expands to 3" in length for safety.



The shape of the Glo Thick is really great. It is a long and thick plug, and the gradual taper of the toy helps to ease it in, rather than have to jump right up in diameter too quickly. This, along with the "give" of the material, helps to easily get this plug in. Well, relatively easily. More easily than if it didn't have these features. This size plug is probably not your best choice for first thing up your butt! Easy tiger, start off smaller! If you have some experience, though, this is a great toy. I found it to be very filling and the length facilitated some prostate massage also. I'm at the "intermediate" stage of experience with anal toys, and this one did make me gasp when it popped in! The measurements listed at the Doc Johnson website (Here) were spot on, and agreed well with my measurements. However, the boys and girls at Eden Fantasys need to have their rulers calibrated, because their measurements were off somewhat. This Link. The diameter was smaller than the 1 3/4" listed and the length was off by 1/4". Does this matter? You be the judge.

The toy performed well under the rigorous and thorough testing it underwent. Our staff of testers (me and her!) put his toy through every conceivable trial, and it came through with flying colors - mainly glow in the dark orange! This plug worked well at what it was designed to do. Sometimes the simplest toys are the best. See the section of the review labeled "Experience" for a more detailed recounting of the toy's use.

Care and maintenance of the Glo Thick plug is a breeze. Simply wash it up with antibacterial soap and hot water when you are done and you are ready to go for next time. You could use toy cleaner also. I don't know about stuff like boiling or bleach or nuclear radiation to clean this, so stick to soap and water. The base of the toy where the core can be seen seems to hang onto materials more tightly than the outer layer, so use special care when cleaning this part of the toy. The plug can be stored in its box or in a Ziploc bag or something like that. Water based and silicone lubes are safe to use with this item.

I really like the packaging of the Glo Thick. The toy can be seen through the front of the box, and the bright neon color standing out against the black box is very striking!



It is a very attractive package. Inside the box the plug is held by two clear, nesting plastic pieces which cradle to toy.



I think the package is nice enough to be wrapped as a gift - it is very modern and chic looking. Admittedly, the amount of packaging material seems to be more than is needed for this toy and I'm not sure if the plastic inside is recyclable, but I still like it. No instructions come with the toy inside the box, but the ad copy on the box has some helpful information.



"Completely body safe", "Perfect for more experienced anal play" and so on. It lists Facebook and Twitter accounts for Doc J and also has info on the product warranty and how to register your new anal toy. The copy makes mention that this toy was designed, manufactured and packaged in the U.S. I like that. The box could be used for storage, but it is kind of large and takes up some space. A Ziploc bag would also work fine to store it in.

I was very excited when I saw that my package from Eden Fantasys had arrived. I always am! As I took the toy out of the shipping box the first emotion to come over me was fear! Look at the size of that thing! Okay, settle down, it's not THAT big. Alright, so it IS that big, don't be afraid. This fear was quickly displaced by the anticipation of this thing in use. Challenge accepted!

When I went to use this toy that evening I was quivering with excitement. Usually these toys get tested solo first and this was no exception. I figured some "warmup" would be needed, so I started out with copious amounts of hybrid water/silicone lube and a smaller toy. As I moved up to the Glo Thick I really understood why it was named "Thick". It took some working to get it in and as I gradually advanced the plug the sensation was great. It felt really good going in. I anticipated the "pop" as the plug would clear the widest part, but it literally made me gasp out loud! I was able to work the toy with my sphincter muscles and the effect was tremendous. This masturbation session was greatly enhanced by this toy and when I came it was mind blowing!

The next time for use for this plug was with my wife. I had her insert it into me (Now SHE was scared!) while she gave me a hand job. Again this was a super addition to our lovemaking. She gets very hot from working a plug into me and I got very excited by having it in me. Win-win!
