Honestly, maybe it is user error, but I am rather underwhelmed by this toy. For me, the texture was strange. For the wife, she didn't comment on the texture. And for both of us, the orgasms achieved were just, ehh. Thanks, I guess. This will stay in our collection, and maybe one day I will find a better use for it.

Use

I have read a lot of reviews raving about this toy, and this was one of the first glass pieces I added to my wishlist almost a year ago now when I first found Eden. A lot of reviewers said it was somewhat small for vaginal use, but perfect for anal. But I thought with all of the ridges, it might please the wife. While I am only into limited anal play, and my wife doesn't like it at all, I didn't purchase this for a long time. But finally after ordering the Amethyst and it being a huge success, I decided to give this one a try. I figured, with the texture, the slight bend, and the phallic shape, it might be pretty good. Unfortunately, it should have just stayed in my wishlist. The texture wasn't anything amazing for the wife, the bend wasn't enough, and for some reason it was uncomfortable upon insertion.

For anal use, I have never tried anything with texture before, and I was not impressed with this one. Maybe it was because I am still an anal rookie, but I didn't get prostate stimulation, the ridges honestly felt weird, and I had to stroke myself to get to orgasm. I don't think I will be trying this anally again, and the Amethyst still has top spot for glass toys in our house.

Another great thing about glass toys is temperature play. You can place it in a bowl of warm or cold water to provide different sensations for play. If you are heating it up, please check the toy against your wrist to make sure the temperature isn't too extreme. And if you do place it in a freezer, make sure it isn't too cold so it doesn't stick to your private parts like a tongue to a flag pole. Even though we have yet to experiment with this yet, I will say that my wife does not enjoy it cold from storage. She has placed it against her chest under her arm for a few minutes, which is then more that warmed up for her.

Material / Texture

The Gold Laced G is made out of borosilicate glass. Yes, this is the same wonderful stuff that you use in your kitchen (not the same company though). The great things about borosilicate glass is that it retains heat or cold really well, it won't absorb any bacteria, and it is firm. Also, if this does fall and break, it will break into larger chunks, and not shatter. However, there are a few negatives. One, you need to make sure there are no chips or cracks in the toy to prevent injury to oneself. Second, you should not go from temperature extremes without risking damage to the toy. And third, since it is so firm, you or a partner can cause injury to oneself if they get overly exciting with thrusting.

For lube, glass toys are compatible with all three kinds. If you are going to use this vaginally, stay away from oil based lube. If you are going to use this anally, any three would work, but silicone would last the longest. I personally like to use water based lube, especially if you are going to be using another toy after this, say a silicone dildo, which does not play well with silicone lubes.

Design / Shape / Size

One thing about glass toys is there is often variety between what you might receive, what someone else on Eden received, and what is pictured on Eden's website. The Gold Laced G which we received measures 6 1/2 inches tall, with a 1 1/8 inch diameter. It has a base which comes out of its "backside" by 1 1/4 inch, which allows the toy to stand up on it's own in case you wanted to display it. The Gold Laced G has a defined head at its up most 3/4 inch of length, with two rings of texture under the head, then criss-crossing texture all down the length of its shaft, and even around the base of the toy. There is also a slight indention on the back side of its head, just like a real penis.

Performance

So far, my wife has used it one time vaginally and I have used it one time anally. Vaginally, it wasn't that impressive. I thought the texture would be more noticeable to my wife, but for some reason initial insertion was uncomfortable for her, even though I went really slow. I eventually was able to get a good thrusting motion down, and she did have a nice orgasm. However, it wasn't that great, and the Amethyst works better for her.

For me anally, insertion was very easy. Once lubed up nicely and inserted, the sensation the texture provided was interesting. This is my first textured toy, and while it was not uncomfortable, it was different and kinda strange. My wife was maneuvering the toy, and never once did it hit me in a weird place. However, we never found my prostate, and the orgasm I had was just average. Not horrible, but not mind blowing. A blow job or vaginal sex would have been nicer.

Vaginally, we might use this on occasion, anally, probably not.

Care and Maintenance

For easily cleaning, you can wash this with just hot water and antibacterial soap. For a more thorough cleaning, like after my anal session the other night, you can run it through the dishwasher with no soap, use a 10% bleach solution, or boil it for 3 minutes. I just boiled it. But however you wash it, be careful not to drop the toy when it is wet. I have read this in other's reviews, and I thought that it couldn't happen to me. But it did. One time when washing it in my kitchen sink, I was switching hands to get the base of the toy. And sure enough, it slipped, fell into the sink, and clanged around. Luckily, no damage was done, and it didn't fall down into the disposal. Lesson learned for me! For storage, the Gold Laced G came with a thin red storage pouch. It is the standard pouch for SSA glass toys, and after I got the amethyst, I decided to purchase an Eden toy bag for more protection. But seeing how little my wife and I like this toy, I am probably going to put the Amethyst in the Eden bag.

Packaging

The packaging for SSA glass toys is really simple. The small red storage bag that you receive holds the toy when you open your Eden package, and inside the glass is wrapped and tapped in bubble wrap for shipping. That's it. No instructions, no woman holding the toy, no scratch and sniff cards, nothing!

Follow-up commentary
This one doesn't come out to see the light of day much. We haven't even used it since my anal experience a few months ago in the initial review. It is too small, and the small amount of texture it has just doesn't do much for my wife. Also since she doesn't enjoy g-spot pressure, this one is just blah to her.

I just got this one - it's not my first glass toy but it looked so pretty and even though I read reviews that said it was a little small once it got marked down 60% I grabbed it. I have used it vaginally and it worked well enough. I was thinking it would be about the right size for anal play so will try that next and see what happens. thanks for this review!

I love the design of the glass more as art for a nice collection rather than casual play. If I haven't had sex in a while this is always a toy for beginning foreplay. Love your review, but definitely wouldn't put the texture through my back door.

    • It really does depend on the user. Most people LOVE glass and are very loyal to it. Myself and a few others don't find it enjoyable at all. The best way to know is really to start off with a cheaper glass toy, IMO. :)
