The Doc Johnson The Groove is GREAT, both as anal thrusting toy and a plug. It has a good give to it so thrusting wouldn't be a problem; the largest node is filling and big enough for you to keep inside of you.

Thrusting can be done either solo, partner or group play. The toy conforms to any position you can possibly think of. Beginners can go with the first 4 fairly smaller nodes. More advanced users can most likely take the largest node once properly warmed up.

If you can't go all the way to the largest node, you may have problems keeping it in as a plug. Overachievers can try butt (just had to) don't force yourself. Take your time and enjoy the sensations. It can also be comfortably worn for long periods of time if you don't mind having a slight bump on your the back part of your bottoms.

The Groove is made of phthalate free Platinum Premium Silicone, which is hypoallergenic. You can detect a light plastic-y smell, but it's nothing unpleasant. The silicone is flexible that you can fold it in half; when you pinch it, it's firm but has some give. The entire toy has an even and slightly velvety finish, perfect for holding on to lube for those who like a little drag with their toys. The blue or gray pearlescent swirls in the material give it an elegant touch.

The toy is an inch short of a number 2 pencil and features 5 nodes or bumps that gradually increase in diameter from half an inch to an inch and a half. They're almost like anal beads but with thicker connectors between nodes. The base is only a tad bit larger than the last node which makes it comfortable to wear but a little risky for advanced users. And if you're into hands free play, the base can act as a suction cup on smooth surface for light movements.

Insertion might be troublesome for others due to the flexibility of the toy. What worked for me is holding on to the tip to guide into me then proceeding to sit on it slowly. Once you've warmed up to the toy, you can go to town without any problems.

Since it is made of silicone, it is best to use only water based lube. A thicker lube will help make things go more smoothly. You can store the toy in the packaging or separate from other toys to avoid any unwanted meltdowns.

To clean it you can wash it with soap and warm water, use special toy cleaners or toss it in the top rack of your dishwasher. Placing it in boiling water or a 10% chlorine (bleach) solution sanitizes the toy.

It comes in a fairly large clear plastic clamshell packaging with a laminated paper insert. The insert lists basic information about the toy and manufacturer. Graphics are simple and modern, no naked forms or anything that screams "SEX TOY". It's pretty discreet except for the fact that the toy can be seen through the packaging in all its glory.

This toy is an EXCELLENT choice for beginners like me. I loved the stimulation from the thrusting. My overachiever self got the best of me though when I forced myself to take the largest node. I didn't quite make it but hopefully with more practice I'd take it. Now I'll never forget to use lots of lube and take my time during anal play.
