The Crystal Jellies Anal Delight by Doc Johnson is a smooth, contoured probe designed for anal play. The rounded bead shapes give this anal stimulator the properties of anal beads. But having the beads connected together allows it to work as a probe. And it works great as both. Not only does it feel great going in, it stays in place pretty well too. The only problem is that the last of the five bead shapes is a little oblong, making it harder to keep in place. But it can be used as a butt plug giving that full sensation when held inside or simply as a connected set of anal beads that stretch and contract your anus as it enters. So, this means this toy works both as an anal probe and a butt plug depending on how you want to use it. Though, one problem I had with this toy is keeping it in place when fully inserted as a butt plug due to (as mentioned above) the oblong shape of the final bead which allows it to slip out easier than a butt plug would. It works great for solo play, but can also be used with a partner.

According to the packaging, this anal probe is made of a material called Sil-a-gel (which is made from PVC but without the Cadium) and it is listed as a non-Phthalate material. This is a little confusing since the name of the toy implies it is made out of jelly. This is good news since Sil-a-Gel has a higher safety rating and is semi-nonporous and completely anti-bacterial. But it is recommended that you use a condom with this toy due to semi-porous nature of the toy. And it is very flexible and squeezable without being so much so that it makes it hard to insert. It has the typical rubbery smell of a porn store to it. And a little bit of a fruity smell as well. But, neither was off putting or distracting and neither is noticeable at all once you've inserted it. The base of the anal probe makes it possible to use with a harness (though I have not tried this). Its texture and size make it perfect for a beginner as you can slowly work your way up the increasingly sized beads. They do recommend that you wash this toy before and after each use with a mild soap and water. The reason for rinsing it before is to remove any dust that has collected on the toy while sitting on the shelf. And when using it, stick to water or silicone based lubricants.

This anal probe is 5" long (most of it insertable). It is perfect for beginners since it is not very big. Even the largest bead is under 1-1/2 inch and the smallest being about 7/8 an inch wide. The shape is like a set of anal beads molded together and it has the flared base of a butt plug which protects the user from having to visit the toy removal doctor. The flared base also allows for the possibility of wearing this in a harness. It slides in pretty easily and stays put due to the bead shape that allows the sphincter to grab it and hold it in (unless fully inserted as previously mentioned).

This toys feels great being pushed in and pulled out. I imagine if one were fully loosened up that thrusting could be done quite quickly without discomfort. While the clear color of this toy is not unappealing, I find darker colors to be more appealing when something is going to a place that might on occasion be a little messy. Clear toys seem to show that sort of thing better. So, I would go with the colored option for this toy. One other thing I would change about this toy is giving the last bead a more rounded shape to allow for better retention when fully inserted. Besides, the oblong shape reduces the stimulation provided when inserting.

We used this toy for several purposes. It worked great when inserted slowly for sensual stimulation. And it also felt wonderful when pulled in and out with greater speeds. The base also seems to have some suction cup qualities, but I have not explored this possibility. It appears that it would work with a harness, but I've not tried this yet. Compared to a butt plug, this anal probe is superior in my opinion because the beaded shaft of this toy creates multiple moments of stimulation when inserted rather than the one expansion of the sphincter enjoyed when inserting a butt plug. Yet, it works quite well as a butt plug. It also is preferable to anal beads because the connected base makes it easier to insert without having to grab each bead individually and shove inside. Holding the base allows you complete control over insertion.

I really love the sensations created when penetrating my wife while wearing this inside. Talk about explosive orgasm waiting to happen. The flexible nature of the Sil-a-Gel was preferable to a toy like this made out of a more solid silicone. The pleasure of insertion was enhanced by the squeezable nature of the material.

There are no cleaning directions on the package, but a little soap and water cleaned it right up. Sil-a-Gel is semi-porous and is safer than other more porous materials, like Jelly. I've used it with Maximus lube which is water based and had no trouble with it. But Sil-a-gel is also compatible with silicone lubricants as well. According to the information on Sil-a-Gel, Although it is relatively safe, Sil-a-Gel has the tendency to attract dust and small debris, therefore it is recommended that these toys be protected with condoms and cleaned before and after each use with warm water and mild soap.

We store this toy on a shelf that is protected by a sheet, but this toy still seems to pick up dust.
This can be rinsed off and is otherwise not a problem since we use this probe with a condom. While I have not noticed a lingering smell after anal play, this may have more to do with using a condom than the properties of the toy.

The butt plug comes in a plastic package with a brightly colored cardboard display, but it has very little information on cleaning.

This toy worked great during sex. It stayed in place during intercourse and was easy to slide in and out while thrusting into my wife. And it nearly made me come instantaneously upon entering my wife due to the combination of front and back sensations. It will definitely be seeing some frequent use! If the last anal bead shape had been less oblong (making it easier to hold inside), I would have given this anal toy 5 stars.
