In Pursuit of Prostate Pleasure Peaks

I have not reached the "super orgasm" yet but the MGX is intriguing enough to keep me exploring. Definitely takes some getting used to, but I have enjoyed getting used to it. I'd give it 5 stars if I could reaffirm the hype I've heard, but it's always been fun at least.

Use

The MGX was originally intended to allow a man to give himself a prostate massage in private, rather than have one performed by a medical professional, to prevent or alleviate prostate and erection afflictions.* It has been purported to cause a unique prostate orgasm called a "super orgasm" by the manufacturer. This orgasm may or may not cause ejaculation. The "super-o"--as its devotees call it--can be both long and repeated in a single session, unlike a traditional ejaculatory orgasm, which can be intensified with the use of the MGX as well, all with no batteries or manual activation required.

That's the hype. I think the toy can definitely be used for the original purpose (although I can't say for sure since I haven't had clinical issues in either department, knock on wood), and based on the number of enthusiastic fans, it must be doing something right. It has a substantial perineum tab to provide external massage while the business end is hitting your prostate from inside, and there's a thin handle opposite the perineum tab to...allow for retrieval? According to the most devoted users I have read, you are not supposed to use your hands AT ALL and touching your penis during use without a partner is basically sacrilege. That said, it helps to have a hand down near the perineum tab to make sure it stays in place, I had a lot of trouble with it moving to one side or the other early on, but I think that was because I wasn't the most careful with the lube. Be sure to have empty bowels in advance.

* Aneros and other prostate massagers do not, as I understand, technically target the kegel or PC (Pubococcygeus) muscle that is activated when you stop urinating, but the MGX and other Aneros massagers do help to isolate that set of muscles from the anal muscles and generally increase blood flow and activity in the region. The urination benefit comes from reducing the swelling of the prostate, which gives the bladder a little more room. The multiple orgasm benefits seem to be from recognizing orgasm as separate from ejaculation, as opposed to holding in ejaculation with super strong PC muscles.

Material / Texture

The plastic is very smooth for the majority of the product. The rigidity of the toy can make it uncomfortable for those unacquainted with anal play, but it becomes more comfortable after adjusting to the feel of it. With the plastic I have always used a water based lube, generally a gel, but any kind should be acceptable in theory. No boiling or bleaching allowed!

Design / Shape / Size

The smoothness, tapered head, and small size make it easy to insert. Like most anal toys, it has a rounded, narrowed head that widens and then thins out again at the base. About 4 inches is insertable with a max diameter of 1 inch.

Insertable length

The main portion of the toy looks sort of like a stylized finger, but the MGX is not meant to be realistic at all. I think it looks cool, but you won't be able to play it off as anything other than what it is. I don't think somebody's going to guess it's a bottle opener; either they know what it is, they ask what it is because they have no clue, or they know enough not to ask because they don't want to know.

The handle portion seems pretty flimsy so I have almost always gripped between the perineum tab and the main portion of the massager where the plastic is thicker, rather than the handle, when removing the MGX. I actually enjoy the feeling of the handle moving around my butt cheeks when using it hands free but I can see how that would be annoying for extended use or while sitting. The perineum tab would also be very uncomfortable while sitting, as mentioned by other reviewers. There are ridges at the base of the main insertable portion but I have never really noticed them during use.

Performance

Performance for me so far has been slightly disappointing. Sex and masturbation have been great with the toy but the "holy grail" of hands free orgasm eludes me. I got the MGX originally because it was cheaper than the "shiny new" thing from Aneros and it was highly touted to be great for beginners. After using the MGX for a while, I wanted to get the Helix Syn because I thought I needed more direct stimulation, but after going back to the MGX, I think the MGX provides stronger pressure because it is rigid plastic. I have had a few cases where I was shaking but it's been hard to tell if that's because I was squeezing so hard and willing myself to feel things or I actually felt them. I haven't found what I'm looking for yet.

Care and Maintenance

I have to say I am kind of worried about discoloring a white toy that goes up my butt. I am careful to wash with warm water and mild antibacterial soap as directed by the manufacturer and always leave out to dry. I have found liquid hand soap works better at preventing odors than bar soap.

Packaging

The packaging is great, very classy. It came inside a plastic mold in a box with magnetic clasps, surrounded by a cardboard display. The instructions were pretty basic, but I had already done my research online so I had some idea of the dedication needed for best performance.

Personal comments

I had wanted this for a really long time and been very reluctant to purchase it and use it initially. My wife was very supportive even though I don't think it appealed to her. I basically used it in secret for a while and only hinted that it is supposed to make sex better for both parties. We both enjoyed it when we tried it but I am still getting used to taking the extra few minutes to insert the MGX. Grazing the MGX while playing with testicles and lightly moving the perineum tab from side to side have been very enjoyable, I had not heard that mentioned anywhere. Also, a vibrator can be used against the base to add vibrations throughout the toy. I'm not sure if this is an indication the MGX is not the right size but I always have to urinate shortly after insertion, even if I've gone immediately before.

Experience

Every experience has been positive. With two small kids I have not really had much chance for the 60-90 minute sessions that are apparently recommended but it has been fun and definitely adds stimulation in any situation.

I have produced some pre-ejaculate during extended use, which I took as a sign that I was hitting the prostate, but did not seem correlated to better feelings or more waves of pleasure.
Follow-up commentary
I now have three Aneros products. This is definitely my go-to starter, as it is the easiest to insert, feels the best immediately after insertion, and I still like that it's hard plastic rather than the silicone-like the Helix Syn. However, it doesn't stay in place and the tab still keeps wanting to move to one side or the other instead of staying in place in the middle of my perineum. This is fun to use on its own, but not so great for sex or masturbation because I have to keep resetting it in the middle.

Wow, this is your first review? Awesome job, mate! I picked up the Aneros Helix for my fiance a few months ago, and he shares a lot of your views on this line. It feels good, but isn't earth shaking for him, though he's still game to keep experimenting with it!

Thanks for a great review, and I hope you don't mind if I follow you? I'm always a fan of reading well written reviews, especially from a male perspective.
