I love this toy and it's one that Sigel and I actually fight over! As a prostate massager it reaches the p-spot with ease, and the vibrations and variations can lead to a satisfying orgasm. The toy‘s angled head makes it lovely for a G-spot orgasm as well. The Impulse is very vigorous in terms of vibration so clitoral stimulation is a bit hit or miss. If you like strong stimulation then this is the toy for you, if you have a very sensitive clit then this is a great prostate massager!

The toy comes with a silicone sleeve that has very long, easily felt nubs on it. It looks like a medieval torture device but is actually extremely soft and pliable. It is big enough to stretch over a penis adding to the fun! The sleeve is 100% silicone so it can be boiled, washed with soap and hot water, or sprayed with an antibacterial cleaning in solution. Remember to clean the toy thoroughly before sharing.

The vibrations of this toy are vigorous and fairly loud. This is not a soft purring kitten it is a roaring, snarling she lion! On the lowest settings it is easily felt and on the highest it was too much for me though Sigel liked it as part of the escalating pattern. This is also not the toy for being discreet, it is loud and can be heard clearly after insertion, under a blanket and through a closed door!

The toy arrives packaged in a brilliant shiny silver box, with the words “Innovation in Motion” on the upper tab and “Impulse” emblazoned over the picture of the toy on all sides. Beside the picture of the toy, in a white circle, is the logo “i5 Levels of Stimulation” a clue that this is a versatile vibrator. Beside the toy's picture are the words “Hyper Sonic Wand” giving the toy it's full name. From the front of the box we learn that the Impulse has 5 hypersonic functions: 10 independent levels of speed plus 4 functions of escalation with progressive patterns of acceleration. This give it's five functions: vibration with no variation beyond speed which is controlled by another button; a slow build up through the various speeds of vibration followed by a return to the first level; a faster run through of the different speeds; a pulsing pattern of slow and fast run through of the speeds; and finally a more intense pulsing pattern of slow and fast run through of the speeds.

The company logo, California Exotic Novelties, and a picture of the silicone sleeve with the words “FREE Silicone Sleeve Included” completes the front of the box.

There is a seam on the egg portion of the wand making cleaning a bit time consuming. Given that it is an anal toy either you clean this seam with extreme care or use a condom to ensure no bacteria builds up in there. A good spritz with a commercial anti-bacterial cleaner will sanitize the egg after thorough cleaning. There is also a minor seam at the base of the egg where it connects to the slender neck that requires careful attention as well. This toy is not waterproof so care is needed to prevent the electronic parts from getting wet during cleaning. It is made of hard plastic so any form of lube is fine.
The entire toy from tip to base is approximately 9 1/2 inches long, the egg portion is approximately 2 1/2 inches long and about 3 inches around. The neck of the toy is approximately 2 1/2 inches long and about 1 1/4 inches around, this is a slender anal toy good for even beginners like me. Sigel is more experienced but he had no complaints about the size or shape. The battery compartment is located on the back of the handle of the toy and has a slide type covering. It takes 3 AAA batteries which are easy to insert and remove. The controls are on the front of the handle and are my biggest complaint: it is very difficult to control the speed settings and variations as the buttons are pressure sensitive and moves through the levels very quick. The on/off feature is also tricky. You must have the variations button set on the lowest function, which is not easy to do given how fast it cycles, and then cycle the toy through all 10 speeds to turn the toy off. The speeds and variation indicators light up brightly but do not really help with solo play due to their position on the handle of the toy.

We tried the toy first on me. Sigel scaled through the speeds and escalations and I decided that the fastest pulsing/escalating setting was best with the speed set at around 5. In a word this toy was mind blowing both as a clitoral stimulator and as a G-spot stimulator. The best part was when he placed the tip against my G-spot and then used his tongue on my clit…WOW! The silicone sleeve felt nice and added a bit of sensation to the toy. Then after a good cleaning it was his turn. He wanted to try it by himself so I wandered into my computer room, still in an orgasmic daze while he put the toy through it's paces. After about 20 minutes he wandered in and gave the toy a glowing recommendation, except for the controls. Later that night I used the toy as a stimulator on his penis which he appreciated very much. It was when I placed the tip of the toy on his frenulum and curled the base of the toy around his testicles to rest it nearly on his anus that the fun really began! The toy vibrates from the tip through the base so it was like a string of vibration through his entire penis to his prostate. He definitely a recommends trying this especially with the escalating speeds/and pulses of the fifth setting!

This is still one of the most used toys we own. The motor is still cranking out the power even with fairly vigorous use. The sleeve attachment is still soft, supple and hasn't torn or discolored. It looks like a torture device but is actually soft and pleasant to the skin. It adds a bit of texture to the toy without being spiky or prickly. I was worried about cleaning the head of the toy since there are seams on the head and down the body of the toy. Turns out a simple fingernail run down the seam cleans it out and a good antibacterial spray left to dry has kept it as clean as the day it arrived. We also use a condom over the head when using the toy anally or if we are sharing the toy which has, no doubt, extended the useful life of the toy.

Though Sigel's toy box isn't quite as full as mine this toy has remained at the top an indication that it's still getting plenty of use!
