Less filling, but (butt?) fun, especially for beginners

When you or your partner are curious about anal play, the Ripple may just be the best introduction you'll find. It's a great size, offers a fun design and will (probably) leave you ready for more.

Use

Note that the Ripple comes in two sizes. This review is of the regular Ripple, not the Large. This little guy is classified as an anal probe, but its small size and flexible silicone structure don't really allow for much probing. So it won't fill you up and it won't do much of anything as far as prostate stimulation goes, but it does have some good selling points: It's not intimidating and it's bloopy! If you're a beginner or are with someone who is curious about anal play, this would be a great place to start your anal adventures.

Material / Texture

The Ripple is made by Tantus so it is high-quality and it is 100% silicone. Silicone is great for your butt because it's non-porous, slippery when lubed (no silicone lubes, though), easy to clean when you're done and, at least in the Ripple's case, flexible and a little bit squishy.

Design / Shape / Size

This little Ripple is wonderfully bloopy which makes for a fun anal toy, but its bloops aren't very big. The little bloop at the tip is smaller than my index finger, for example, and the biggest bloop is maybe 1.5 of my fingers wide. My fingers are pretty slender so the Ripple doesn't provide much of a challenge for entry or much of a feeling of fullness once it is inserted.

Performance

The performance of the Ripple is great as long as you keep in mind the limitations of its size and texture. If you're a beginner you will appreciate that little, rounded bloop at the top. After applying some lube to your butt and some lube to the Ripple you'll find that first bloop will pop inside easily. The silicone isn't really firm, but you'll still feel your anus clenched around it. If you've only inserted a finger or two before, you'll love the feeling of smooth, lubed silicone! After you get the first bloop inside, it's fun to feel the other bloops pop in one by one. The difference in size from bloop to bloop isn't too much, but you do notice you're opening up a little wider for each one. I think this is a very arousing part of anal play and the Ripple is a great introduction to it.

Now, with larger and firmer toys men would expect to get some prostate stimulation even from a small toy like the Ripple, but I found this toy too soft to do that. The softness also means that you can't just grab the base and apply pressure to push the toy inside. It works best to keep your finger along the shaft to sort of pop each bloop inside.

Care and Maintenance

Silicone is non-porous and cleans easily with antibacterial soap and warm water. You also can boil it or put it in the dishwasher for a more thorough cleansing. Silicone lube is a no-no with silicone toys so you'll want to find a nice water-based lube instead. Since the Ripple is going in your butt, I'd recommend a thicker lube over a thin one. Eden Fantasys doesn't carry the one I've used before so I won't recommend anything specific. I'm sure a search through the reviews will turn up a good option for you, though.

Experience

This toy is really fun! If you're new to anal play that might sound weird, but hopefully it's intriguing. Larger toys are more of a turn-on for me because they provide a feeling of stretching and fullness and/or direct prostate stimulation, but this toy is a great, low-key way to play with your (or your partner's) backside.

Since this toy doesn't feel like much when it's in you, your pleasure is instead concentrated around the way it feels as it is inserted and removed. Inserting the toy bloop by bloop lets you feel your anus stretch (very slightly) over each one and then close down after it's in. As you remove it you get a similar, though opposite, feeling. Like I wrote above, smooth, slippery silicone feels great and the Ripple will prove it to you over and over as you pop the different bloops in and out.

I think a hand mirror is a great addition to anal play as well. Seeing your butt accept each bloop and then watching as it stretches around each one as it is removed really heightens the eroticism of anal play. Sometimes anal play is great for its feel of domination or taboo-busting naughtiness, but the Ripple goes another direction where it's more fun and arousing.
