Little L'amour

Overall, it was a fun toy to add to our evening, but I don't think it'll be in my regular rotation. I will definitely keep it handy for those more special occasions or when we'd like a little more variety than basic sex. Gets a four star rating from me, but without the suction cup feature, it'd be a five.

Use

In the interest of full disclosure, I wasn't really sure what a probe actually DID. I've had anal toys before: beads, even a DP toy... and a probe just seemed like another one of the bunch. The shape of this toy was intriguing to me, and (gasp!) I've never owned an all silicone toy before. It was worth a try.

This probe can be used for solo play sessions or during play/intercourse with a partner, even perhaps for a DP session. I don't recommend it for long-term wear, as the base--while flared--is flimsy and I could see it being accidentally sucked in. In fact, the base itself is a suction cup. However, I don't see the utility of such a feature. The toy itself is quite flexible, and I don't see it being useful while suctioned to anything. Although, I will say that it does have some decent suction to it (tested only by suctioning it to my night stand and trying to pull it off in various directions).

Material / Texture

As I mentioned above, the material of this toy is 100% silicone. It has a velvety soft texture and is pretty flexible. It can be completely sterilized, even by boiling, therefore it's safe for sharing as long as it's cleaned in between uses. However, being silicone, it's not recommended for use with silicone based lubes. At its base, it has a soft, flared suction cup, also made of silicone. There was no odor to speak of, even directly out of the packaging.

Design / Shape / Size

The shape of this toy was something that I didn't think I'd notice as much as I did. The thin portion at the end is curved to one direction. While this didn't make for a problem with insertion, when twisting the toy while inserted made me kind of uncomfortable. This may have been an issue with not enough lube, but honestly I used a LOT, so it might just be a personal preference.

The toy itself grows in circumference as it nears the base, but gradually so, making for more comfortable insertion. Really, it was more comfortable to me than some of my bead toys, even though it's thicker. The girth (about the size of a quarter at it's widest point) is perfect for someone new into anal play. (There are other options in this same toy with larger circumferences for those with more experience.) As far as length, it's barely longer than my own middle finger, making this an easy toy to hide in a drawer, purse, or even a pair of balled up socks.

Also, it's design doesn't immediately scream sex toy, although I wouldn't just leave it out on the coffee table. It actually is quite pretty, especially in the soft violet color I received. The flowing lines are kind of relaxing!

One thing with the design that I did not like was the suction cup at the base. In my opinion, I would have preferred a more rigid base to give me something to grab onto rather than the flimsy suction cup. There were times when I was afraid I was going to lose it inside of me. Honestly I really don't see the reason for a suction cup, as this toy is small enough that I don't see anyone really sticking it to something and backing up/down onto it. Plus, the flexibility kind of doesn't lend itself to such an act either.

Performance

The toy was really easy to insert (lubed, of course). It wasn't uncomfortable, and it felt great inside. My husband and I used it for a DP kind of session. He claimed that it did make my vagina feel tighter, and he could feel the thickness of the toy through my vaginal wall, which he enjoyed. A LOT.

My only issue was that it didn't stay in while we played, which made us have to stop to either reinsert it or move it out of the way entirely. That is probably an issue with my body, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Care and Maintenance

Wash the toy before use using any sort of soap or toy cleaner. The toy can also be boiled, put in the dishwasher, or washed in a bleach dilute. The toy can be shared as long as it's thoroughly cleaned between users.

Storage is rather simple. It doesn't attract fuzzies in a drawer or anything, so store it however best suits you.

Silicone is not compatible with silicone based lubricants, so stick with water based. You will need plenty of lube for this toy.

Packaging

The toy arrives in CalExotics' basic plastic packaging. It's a clear plastic box, in which the toy is entirely visible. The word "probe" is also prominently displayed on the box, although they graciously omitted the word "anal". It's not necessarily discreet, but it's not too bad. No naked ladies using the product, sorry fellas. No instructions were included either. I guess not much instruction is needed, but some ideas on care and basic use would have been nice for a so-called "beginner" toy.

As far as gifting or storage, I think it would be better served to remove the toy from its package. The toy is small enough that keeping it in the box in either case will be just using up space.
