"Meh" pretty much sums it up.

Overall, the Risque was pretty disappointing. The vibrations were strong and varied, but it would not stay where it was put, was fairly uncomfortable because of the tip and just did not do it for me at all. My advice? Keep looking for something better.

Use

The 10-Function Risque is really just designed for one thing: anal stimulation. It can add a nice element to any solo session or during intercourse. It is best used by beginner to intermediate players who want to add a little buzz to their backsides. The Risque tapers from a fairly sharp point to its full inch and an eight girth. It inserts fairly easy with a little water-based lubricant but unfortunately does not like staying where it is put. This can makes its best use a little difficult to enjoy.

Material / Texture

The Risque is crafted from TPR and plastic and has no noticeable smell. The TPR is hollow and has a little flexibility towards the point. It is definitely more rigid than flexible due to the vibrator. The TPR is very smooth to the touch and it has no visible seams. The texture does not really add any extra stimulation to this toy but it does make it easy to insert.

Design / Shape / Size

For me the overall design is where this toy fell down. It is about four inches overall with three inches that can be inserted. The diameter is one and a eight of an inch. It is a good size for insertion and the beginner should not have much of an issue inserting it due to the taper. The tip of the Risque is fairly pointy and is not the most comfortable thing to insert. Once in, the point tends to rub and cause an unpleasant sensation. The other major issue with the design is the neck of the plug. The neck does not have much taper to it and fails to keep this toy in place. To enjoys its vibrations I had to hold the Risque in place. Otherwise, if kept popping out. It is also small enough to travel with.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations of the Risque are actually pretty good. They are more buzzy than rumbly. The vibrator is located towards the base and send vibrations through the entire toy. It does have ten vibration functions; including three steady levels and seven pattern levels. The controls are a single button in the center of the base of the plug and worked wonderfully. With a push it scrolls through the functions with ease. As far as noise goes, the Risque is very quiet. This toy claims to be waterproof for those of you who like to play in the tub. The battery compartment is a little odd on this one. It tells you to push in both directions when you really only need to push one way to get the cover off.

Care and Maintenance

The Risque is very easy to clean up after use. A little soap and water or toy cleaner will do the trick and because it is waterproof it can be submerged. I am not sure how much I would trust the seal on the battery compartment though. In practice, it may be more splash-proof than waterproof. If you want to make it even easier to clean, a condom can be slipped over it. Due to the nature of TPR, it can not be sanitized and should not be stored with toys made of silicone, though a plastic bag will take care of any storage issues. If you are planning on sharing this toy with your partner, a condom is also in order since it is made of porous TPR.

Packaging

The packaging is what you would expect from California Exotics. It works for retail but is not really something that you would want to store the toy in at home. The Risque does include set of instructions that really do not pertain to how the batteries are inserted. Every other vibrator type is shown there except the Risque.

Personal comments

For me this toy did not really work on several levels. The point was too sharp for pleasure, the neck did not do its job in keeping the toy and place and the battery compartment was a little weedy. Those factors combined really killed any please that could have received from the strong vibrations running through this toy. I would give it a solid "meh" out of ten.
Follow-up commentary
I gave this one a try again, and it still did not do anything for me. After another failed encounter, it made an encounter with the garbage can.
