Midnight Purple Ryder

What caught my eye about this toy was "Tantus 01" engraved on the base of it. To me this meant that someone had taken care to make this toy of real quality. This plug is flexible, beautiful, hypoallergenic, and won't cause infections. It's guaranteed to last a lifetime. It's painlessly insertable, easy to clean, and 100% ultra premium platinum silicone, the safest material for adult toys on the market.

Use

This plug was definitely labeled for anal use, although the adventurous rider like myself might try to use it vaginally just for kicks. It's a bit weird of me to say that I did, but I did. We all get a bit curious, don't we? This toy is labeled for, anatomically made for, and distributed for anal use. It's great for role play, warming up before anal sex, use in the rectum while vaginal sex is being performed, and for all around pleasure. The shape is quite pleasurable and the base is not too small or too flared. It provides a comfortable and extremely well made fit that will work for all behinds! The plug is made of flexible silicone material that will not bruise your cervix, or your rectum in any way. It is one hundred percent safe, and comfortable. This is safe, delectable, and quality designed material that has a lifetime warranty and it needs minimal care.

Material / Texture

This Ryder plug is made of the finest silicone, which is one hundred percent premium platinum silicone, which is safe with most silicone based lubes, but is the safest and finest material found on the adult toy market. The shape is torpedo like and smooth, and absolutely pleasurable in every way, and is anatomically targeted for anal use. The smoothness is exceptional and insertion is extremely easy. Just apply enough lubricant around it (I prefer water based) and gently insert! It's nontoxic, hypoallergenic, and phthalate free material. This toy is odorless, tasteless, boilable, bleachable, and healthy for your body. The material also won't cause irritations, rashes, or infections of any kind. This is a nice thing to know and trust in.

The plug feels soft and smooth to the touch, is a bit squishy, like a stress ball that's hard to squeeze, but it's also firm; even when if you shake it it moves like jelly and feels a bit like it. The material is very flexible and will fit unique contours of the body.

The Ryder's high grade silicone is something that you can safely use with silicone based lubricants. Cheaper silicone toys might melt with silicone lubricant, and deteriorate, but I have found that this one wont.

Design / Shape / Size

I loved the design of this plug. It is torpedo shaped and firm yet flexible. It's a beautiful plug that seems to glitter in the light in a metallic way. It's purple and pretty, a beautiful shade of purple as well. It's an exotic toy and certainly is of the finest quality that I have ever been exposed to. It fit into my rectum easily and comfortably; even as I am a less advanced anal toy user, it didn't hurt at all and was extremely flexible for me. This is a good fitting toy for average users, and beginners and advanced users as well. It's a discreet toy for travel as well. I'm sure that you can easily hide it somewhere. *wink wink*

Performance

I love that this plug is easy to insert and to remove. The base is not too small or too flared and so is comfortable for any body, really. I know that it was comfortable for me, at least. This toy stayed inside of me for about three hours and I never once found it uncomfortable. It was a very pleasurable experience for my first anal plug and fit me nicely. For me, there wasn't really anything I didn't like.

Care and Maintenance

This is an easy to to care for. I used the Before and After Adult Toy Cleanser (found on this website) the multiple times I used it and it cleaned up easily. I used water based lubricant (Astroglide is my favorite and preferred choice), so it made it even easier to clean up. I put it back into it's original package box, and then into my big toy box.

I used water based lubricant with this plug, since it is the only kind that I buy. I haven't tried others, so I won't decide whether they are safe enough and will leave that to you. But I would recommend using water based lubricants, even if you put a condom on the plug. These, I know, are safe.

Packaging

Well, the top of the plastic package was a bit hard to get open, as there are three plastic locks holding the top on that lock onto the lid to keep it closed and secure. These hurt my fingers to get open, so I didn't close it all the way when I finally put it away into this original packaging for storage for the night. There is a plastic enclosed body case for the toy inside of the plastic box, which is clear just like the exterior box. The plug is very protected and easily kept clean and protected in this packaging. There weren't instructions on how to clean the toy on or in the package, only materials that it was made of, what it was, and knowledge that it wouldn't irritate or cause infections. Some of it was very vague, but I learned what to do by experience of using this plug.

The package that it comes in would work great as gift, and also for storage. All of the packaging is recyclable and plastic.

This plug did...hold smells for a long time. I had to keep running water over it to get the smell off.
Follow-up commentary
I learned some new things about the Ryder from experience with it; This includes using it and maintaining cleanliness for it. First of all it truly has been a great plug. It makes you want more as you insert it, and it gives you that feeling of "don't-stop" bliss when you feel it inside of you. Well, it did for me! I really wanted the Ryder, to ride me!

But as for cleaning and maintenance, it has been a tad bit difficult to take care of, and it takes away some of the spontaneity of horny toy sex (my masturbation time) because I have to slowly wipe with my fingers the particles of hair, thread, or lint that its material attracts, or run it under water. But even just running it under water does not remove them. I have to use my hands to roughly wipe them off because a towel won't work, and those things really want to stay. I recently put mine in a paper towel for storage just to keep it clean, because I'm so tired of the particle build up.

Also, it will attract and keep the smell unless it is thoroughly scrubbed, which can take some time, and has repeatedly ruined the fun from the pleasure I've gotten from it, because as soon as I get my pleasure from it and decide to take it out, I have to clean it right away. The smell is disgusting and not something I look forward to...

Before you insert it, also make sure there is plenty of lubricant. It's a bit large, and boy does it feel good, but safety comes first as a measure of precaution, and you can't go wrong with some nice water based lube or your preferred choice. Hope you love the Ryder!

How was insertion? Since this was your first plug, it would be interesting to know a little bit more about how it worked for you. Did you do any warm-up before inserting the Ryder? Have you done much anal play before?

I'm a little bit confused... You say in the first part of your review that you found that silicone lubes can be used with this toy, but then later on you said that you only use water based lubes and won't recommend anything else as being safe because you've not tried it...

Have you actually tested this to be safe with silicone lubes, or have you only used it with water based lubricants?

I used a good amount of lubrication inserting it, and it worked well, although it feels jelly like to me and floppy and I might need a little focus to insert it. I did do warm ups before inserting it on occasion, but I hadn't done a lot of anal play before this plug.

I know that certain types of silicone lubes can be used with this toy due to research, but I've only tried water based lubricants, so no I haven't tested it to be safe with silicone, but I'm sure that there are a few that the toy is safe with.       Yes, it sure has been discontinued. It was weird - Copper was a slow seller, and we got some feedback from retailers that it wasn't at all popular. Then when we discontinued last Spring it got snapped up pretty quickly. I only have closeouts left, but we're hoping that by discontinuing Copper we'll have more time in the production schedule to pursue other colors.

    • Some, not all silicone lube will 'stick' to silicone material. I have read that some premium silicone lubes will work with some premium silicone materials. You can try some on the base and see, when I last tried it kinda etched the silicone material. (does that make sense) It left a indentation were the lube was.

      That's the basics, Some of the other members can give a more technical answer.
    • Some silicone lubes will bond to some silicones. This seems to be more of an issue the softer the silicone is, so toys like O2 and VixSkin will be more susceptible (makes sense, as the silicone has fewer crosslinks). Quality lubes seem to have less of a problem also, and it is likely that cheaper silicones might have more of a problem.

      I have tested quality silicone lube on several quality silicone toys and did not notice a permanent problem, but (a) the toys developed "hives" that lasted for a few hours (was gone the next day) and (b) it's really hard to clean the silicone lube off of the toys, but it can be done. While this is purely subjective, but it seemed that the silicone lube wasn't as "lubey" on silicone toys. I don't use silicone lube on silicone toys anymore - it's just not worth the trouble.
