There is something perfect about a beautiful toy that works exactly as you expect it will! The Moon Shine by SSA Glass is one of the prettiest glass toys I have ever seen.


Usually, I am warning users not to shove a toy up their asses but in this case, go for it! Just be aware that this is a solid Pyrex glass toy with zero give. This means you will need some preparation before you slide this baby on home. Measuring in at 5 inches around the largest part of the toy, this is a good toy for the not quite beginner.

The head of the toy has gorgeous rings of color starting at the tip of the toy and swirling down and around the teardrop shape before it attaches to a solid neck of clear glass. The swirl of color begins with a lovely deep red that switches to a bright yellow that continues down the head to the neck of the toy. Also made of clear glass, the circular flaring base is wide enough to stop it from sliding all the way inside the anus.

The Moon Shine measures approximately 3.75 inches in total with 3 inches being insertable. The neck of the toy measures 1.25 inches from the bottom of the teardrop head to the flared base. This is enough for the anus to grip the toy and relax around it easily.

It feels substantial when inserted and definitely takes a bit of warming up. The toy is completely smooth with no texture meaning that a touch of lube goes a long way. Speaking of lube, you are free to use whatever style you prefer with this toy as it is 100% non-porous glass.

The Moon Shine is a bit short for a vaginal thrusting/g spot toy but it can be good for users who like smooth short dildos. Where this toy really shines is in it's intended purpose, as an anal plug. It is easy to keep in place and didn't shoot out during orgasm, which is always a nice thing. No one should be ducking for cover during that special moment!


It is a heavy toy and will quickly cause fatigue if worn while walking around. The circular flaring base is not comfortable for walking around or sitting on for long periods of time. The best use we found was using the toy during PIV sex or masturbation as it is rather short for thrusting. Remember that this toy is not at all soft so if you have trouble with DP due to over stretching you might want a different shaped toy. In our experience a longer teardrop shape or taper is easier.

As with any anal play please remember that pain means something isn't right; stop and relax if you experience pain upon insertion. Go slow and take the time it takes.


The Moon Shine is great for temperature play, just run it under some warm water or cool water for a new twist. Be sure to test the temperature on the inside of your forearm or elbow before inserting the toy.

The toy comes with a red velveteen pouched cut to fit the shorter stature of this toy. It doesn't offer much protection for the glass but Pyrex isn't easy to break or chip. This glass toy can be boiled, washed in the dishwasher (top shelf and no detergent), washed with hot water and soap, sprayed with a 10% bleach and water solution or washed with a commercial toy cleaner. Take extra care when washing the toy in a sink as it can break if dropped with significant force. For this reason I really don't recommend using this toy in the shower or bathtub without extreme care as it get very slick when lubed up. On the upside I have flagstone floors and have dropped this toy several times without incident, just give your new toy a once over for cracks and chips before use.

When I got this toy I compared it to the Sexy Spades Small by Doc Johnson which is very similar but just a touch smaller. Both of the toys are simply beautiful and the sexy spades has a bit of a longer teardrop shape but it is barely noticeable when in use.

I love them both and we use them often, one nice thing about having them both is we can both wear one, Sigel and I, during PIV sex!

The moon is still shining and looking great! Despite being dropped on the flagstone floor and in ceramic sinks it is chip, and crack free. I am still loving using this toy because the smooth glass offers both substantial weight and a really full feeling. Though I still find this toy a tad uncomfortable for sitting on it is great for double penetration because it doesn't slide out during play. All in all this is still a great little plug.
