Glo slim anal plug - butt plug by Doc Johnson - review by Arlinnae

- Glo slim anal plug is designed to be a small, non-threatening fun anal toy, mostly with couples in mind. It is slim, just as the name suggests, so it is definitely not for those who like the sensation of being filled.

- It can be used solo or with a partner, but the special ability, the glowing is pretty much lost when you are alone, as you can rarely see it once inserted.

- not suitable for prostate stimulation because of the flexibility and shape

- It has no vibrating parts, so it’s 100% water proof, you can use it in the bath, shower or even in a swimming pool if you have outdoor fun.

- It can be used both in daylight and night, but you can see the glowing only in the dark.

- The packaging claims it is made of body-safe material, but it has a very strong chemical smell. If you are allergic to any kind of toy materials I suggest you pass this up or cover it with condom

- No vibrations means it is silent, so it can be used without fear even if you have other people in the house

- It cannot be worn for an extended amount of time, because the neck is not tapered enough to keep the plug in and the design of the base makes it uncomfortable

- The looks are not discreet, so do not leave it around the house

- If you travel a lot, it would be easy to take it with you

- It is slim, but rather long, and if you are not careful enough it can poke you at the wrong place inside. I do not suggest this product for anal beginners for this very reason, as they are more likely to have a bad first experience

- It is an unusual product, and quite funny, I think it would work great as a gag gift

- It might be a fun experience for an adventourous couple who want to spice things up a bit

The plug is made of 2 different kinds of material, a softer core and hard coating. The coating is a PVC, that according to the box is antibacterial, non-toxic, latex free and cadmium free. This material is supposed to be safe, 8 out of 10 on Eden’s safety scale. However it has a very strong chemical smell. Even after just holding it in my hand for taking the pictures I could smell it on my fingers, and not just lightly. If those compounds rubbed on only my hand by holding it, I do not want to know how they would behave internally. I have strong suspicion about those chemicals, and I would not use this plug without a condom.
The inner core is Sil-a-gel, which has a material safety of 5. It is soft, see-through, and part of it is left free on the bottom of the plug, but it would not come in contact with your privates.

The outer coating layer is shiny and comes in fun, bright colors. It is smooth with no texture, and has a slight drag without lube.

It does glow in the dark, but only a little bit. I have tried to capture it on cam but the light was way too faint, I could only get some blue smudges on the picture. (the toys glows orange.) The glow lasts about half a minute before it goes out completely.
You can safely use water based or silicon based lubes with it.

It measures 4.6” total length with 4” insertable and 0.9". The toy is designed with a soft internal core and a harder outer glow-in-the-dark layer. The outer cover is hard and ridged but thin, the inner core thick, soft and very squishy. This section collects lint like crazy. The inner core can be seen on the surface if you lie the toy on its side, as the bottom of the toy leaves the core free:



The second problem is that the gel inside gives no support whatsoever for the cover, as it is softer. Because of this, when you try to bend the toy the core complies, but the PVC is trying to resist, which puts a lot of localized pressure on the material. As you can see on the pictures below, as the plug was bent, the outer layer was creased.



As the PVC coating is hard, it has no give to it, but because of the soft core and the fact it’s not entirely filled in it can deform under pressure. As the plug is slim, I cannot see this causing big problems, but it would be a bad idea to create a similar design plug in bigger size.
The plug is long and slim, which makes for an easy insertion, aided buy the smooth shiny surface. However, I find it to be too long, and poking at the insides. As it has a hard outer cover the tip is very ridged, cannot be easily bent. Also I showed on pictures what happens when it is being bent – not exactly fun.
The slim plug has a big, square base, which makes it safe for anal play. Also it has virtually no neck before the base, so it is not easy to keep the plug in, it keeps gliding out. Also, the base is big and somewhat clumsy, uncomfortable for extended wear. Playing with tis plug definitely demands one hand on it.

As a butt plug it is small, slim, too long, has no neck, but has a flared base that makes it safe. It is not very filling, and I found it to be clumsy due to the fact you need to hold it in by hand. It is easy to insert, but slips out equally easily. Doe to its somewhat flexible nature it does not do well under pressure. The only was to use it without a hand is to sit down on it, but than you can see nothing from the glow.
As a glowing toy, it only last for a short time, and it has merely a soft, faint color.

PVC is a porous material, so you should wash your plug with antibacterial soap or toy cleaner before and after each use. It is not too hard to wash, but you need to pay extra attention to the bottom of the toy, where the internal core and outer PVC layer meet, as the merge is not smooth, and you never know what gets smeared where…
It can be used with either water based or silicone based lube.
It needs no other maintenance. No talc, no oiling, no recharging or batteries as it is a non-vibrating toy.
The maintenance is pretty simple easy and quick, apart from the ridge on the bottom.
It can be stored in the box it arrived in, but it is small, so you can put it in a nylon zip-bag or a cloth sac. If you go for a sac choose one that does not leave lint, because the Sil-a-gel at the bottom of the toy collects lint like crazy.

The toy arrived in a black box, that had colorful pictures and texts on it – I found it fitting to a glow-in the dark toy. It has a cutout part, where you can see the toy under a plastic cover – therefore it is not one bit discreet, do not let it lying around the house, people will know exactly what it is.
The front of the box names the product and the producer, the back gives some more information about the material it is made of, though it is not very informative.


There is no description in the box as to how to use the toy. It is pretty obvious where it goes, but I think it would need a list of things to know, like what kind of lube you can use with it, if the material could trigger allergic reactions, if you can try it for temperature play, whether you need to clean it with antiseptic thing or if you can put it in the dishwasher.
Inside the boy the toy is resting in plastic container molded to it’s shape.

As you can see on the picture the box is a lot bigger than the plug, which takes up an unnecessary amount of room. I know storage isn’t a problem for everyone, but I am seriously running out of room, and any such waste I find annoying.
The box is suitable for storing the toy, as it isn’t flimsy. It can take some pressure, you can put it at the bottom of a toy pile, but as it is made of paper it has its limits.
The box is ok looking bit not suitable as a gift box.

For me this plug did not work out at all. The smell was off-putting, the dual core system annoying, the glow was faint and short lived, and did not make up for the rest of the faults. I found it uncomfortable to use and not filling enough to be pleasurable. Maybe it could be used for teasing and warm up, but the smell is a huge turn-off, I will definitely not be reaching for this one any time soon.
The only thing it might work as is a gag gift.
