Ouch! Not necessarily a beginner toy!
This isn't what I would call a beginner toy. It is more of a transition toy really, if you are graduating up from smaller anal beads to full on anal penetration. I wasn't disappointed by this toy, but I often have to use something else to warm up first, which seems slightly counter productive.Published: August 3, 2011

I have always been interested in anal play, but I'm not exactly what you would call an expert. My partner and I experiment with beads and small toys, but I wanted to step it up in hopes of someday having my partner be able to use a strap-on from behind. We purchased this toy in hopes that it would get me used to the girth of our strap-on toy.
What I loved most about it is that it vibrates and that really helps me to relax. Also, the first few beads are pretty flexible, which is great for a beginner. But then there are the last few beads. I only ever managed to get it all the way in a few times. Once it was in, it felt spectacular, but if you're just starting out in anal play, the bigger beads can be kind of uncomfortable. Definitely warm up first before even attempting to use this toy if you are not familiar with anal play! Lots and lots of lube, too!
This is a pretty great toy to put in and leave during sex or other play or as a precursor to bigger toys once you've adjusted. It takes time to adjust to this toy, which is why I would say it is certainly not everyone's first toy. My first toy was quite a bit thinner, very flexible and small. I think this toy can be kind of intimidating at first because of the girth of the lower beads. I had to keep stopping my partner from pushing it in all the way because the lower beads seem way bigger than the first three.
Also, this toy is made of jelly, which isn't the most hygienic of materials. Be sure to clean this toy really well after use and I wouldn't recommend putting it anywhere else but where it is intended. It also picks up bits of hair or dust very, very easily.

I still enjoy this toy though we don't use it as often as our others. The base is just too thick and inflexible.

What do you think is the average life of jelly toys before you have to toss them? Do you have a set time limit on them? For me, about a year is the life span. After that its toss time. Personally I hate jelly and no longer buy it.

Could it perhaps be that the last few beads were uncomfortable because of the vibrator that's inside of it? Or was it their size more than the material?
That's a good point! It might be because it isn't quite as flexible due to the vibrator inside of it. Its also sort of a strange shape though, not quite rounded.

If you look at the 'actual size' chart on the page, you can kind of see how big it would be. The strange thing is, it doesn't even look that big. Once you get it in, its fine. But its hard to actually pop it in! Size Chart

Thanks for the review. I have a feeling it is where the vibrator is located that is the issue, like stated above. You might want to add the size of the beads despite them being located on the size chart, some people ignore it but will read it in the review.
