Our 1st anal plug
I believe for the size, the Anal Retriever is a great entry plug (pun intended) for first time users. The price is also a plus.Published: December 31, 2010
Pros:
The small size won't intimidate first-time users.
Cons:
The base might be a tad to wide for comfort.
DESCRIPTION: The Anal Retriever is made by California Exotics. It comes in 2 sizes: 1 1/2" or 2" diameter. It is 4 1/2" long, but has a 4" insertable length, and is 4 1/2" in circumference. We chose the 1 1/2" for our first plug because, to a newbie couple, the other seemed too scary! We took the Anal Retriever out of the package and we noticed a slight smell. It is made out of a jelly material. So I didn't know if the smell was normal, since this was our very first jelly toy. It was made with a retrieval cord, so that you won't have to worry about it getting lost somewhere! The plug has a very smooth finish, which makes it very easy to use, and to clean up. The taper on the neck seems very gradual, which helps on insertion.
EXPERIENCE: The plug had a really cool transparent blue color. It was firm enough to facilitate insertion, but still soft enough to not feel like it didn't have any give to it. With the aid of some KY, we were able to slide it into place with very little effort. The smaller size was a good choice for our first anal plug, so as not to cause any anxiety!
I asked my wife if it was causing her any pain after a few minutes, and she said that it was not painful at all. That was good news to hear!
CLEANING: It is safe to use water based, or silicone lubes on this butt plug. It CAN NOT be boiled! So sharing with others would be unsafe if not cleaned thoroughly. Since it is a porous toy, it is highly recommended to use a condom to prevent infections, especially if you will use this for vaginal and anal play. Clean up is a snap when using a toy cleaner or an anti-bacterial soap.

Experience
We decided to take the plug on its maiden voyage. After a little OS on the DW, I lubed up the plug and slowly inserted it into my wife while on her knees. The plug has a comfortable taper, and she stated that there was no pain on insertion. I asked her to roll onto her back. While doing this the plug slipped out. We opted to pass on reinsertion at that time. She did tell me that the base felt too wide to be really comfortable. She also said that this might be why it did not stay in place while she changed positions. We will try it again another time, and get back with the update.
