P-Wand: The Floppy Little Prostate Massager

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the P-Wand to anyone interested in anal play. It is made from a great material and has a good design. While it is a little on the soft side for a prostate toy it is also very good value.

-Packaging-

The packaging of “The P-Wand” from Doc Johnson is quite simple. It arrived in a plastic see through box that shows the toy through the front and lists some specifications on the back. It is a clip open/close box so it can double as storage if needs be. I was happy to see that the packaging is free from any pornographic or overly sexual imagery. It is a bit of a departure from Doc Johnson’s usual packaging as it is marketed as a higher end toy when compared with some of their UR3 or Sil-A-Gel products.

-Specifications-

My initial impression of the wand was that it was a little smaller than I had expected based on pictures. There are two colours available black and flesh. The one we opted for was black. The colour of it is actually really interesting as there is a shimmer effect running through it. Its size is roughly equivalent to a thick finger if a bit longer. Its measurements are as follows.

Insertable length = 4 ½ Inches.
Circumference (widest) = 3 ¼ Inches.
Base/Handle = 2 Inches.
Nub On base = 1 ½ Inches.

-Material/Care-

Out of the box it has somewhat of a rubber feel to it. It is made from “platinum grade silicone”. Being a silicone toy it means that it is body safe (phthalate free, latex free and hypoallergenic). It is non-pours and incredibly easy to clean. You can boil wash it to completely sterilise it and it is top rack dishwasher safe. For normal cleaning you should use warm water and mild anti-bacterial soap or toy cleaner. A small note on cleaning. “DOCJOHNSON” is carved into one side of the base and this might be a little difficult to clean by hand so I recommend using a cotton bud to remove any residue from lubes etc.

-Use-

The P-Wand is quite soft when compared to the majority of silicone toys I have played with in the past. This is a double edge sword because you want it to be comfortable but also firm enough to get the job done. Prostate toys in particular need a certain degree of rigidity to perform their intended function and I am sad to say that the p-wand lacks this firmness. It has a decent design. Its base/handle ensures it will not accidentally get lost. The slight curve as well as the round node on the tip does work well for stimulation of the p-spot. What it lacks though is firmness. While it will stimulate the prostate it is a little bit too soft to actually go beyond that. As it is a silicone product you should use either oil or water based lube on it as silicone on silicone can damage the toy. The box that comes with the toy makes a good storage solution but failing that a zip-seal plastic bag works just as well. This will help the toy stay clean as well as keep any other toy from reacting with it.

This toy can also be used on a woman (obviously not after it has been on a man for hygiene reasons). It makes a good little toy for stimulating the g-spot with the added advantage that the base piece (designed to stimulate the perineum) can stimulate the clitoris.

-Summary-

The p-wand would be best described as a great starter toy. It is quite soft and forgiving for anyone who might be a little nervous to start out with. Being made from silicone is a serious advantage for an anal toy for cleanliness and hygiene. I am pleased to see Doc Johnson bringing out more silicone toys as I have recently become more material conscious. The wand is quite small and discreet making it very travel friendly. Where the p-wand is let down is by a lack of firmness. If you do use it I think you will outgrow it quickly but the value for the material still make it a solid investment (pun intended).
