Pleasant, but Boring

Icicles No. 2 would be a great choice for someone who wants to try a glass toy for the first time, either vaginally or anally, but there's nothing particularly unique or exciting about it. A shorter glass toy with a curve would probably be a better pick for most people.

Use

Icicles No. 2 is a long glass dildo consisting of several balls/beads/bloops, ranging in size from 3/4" to 1 1/2".

Some websites define this toy as a vaginal dildo, some as an anal toy; it can be used both ways, as long as it's sterilized in between.

This is a fairly simple, straight-ahead toy, as far as glass dildos go. It doesn't have a curve or any other particularly special features. For this reason, it's very versatile and would be best suited for someone who wants a toy that can multitask.

I should note, though, that this isn't a toy for deep anal penetration. It doesn't have a flared base, and would be all too easy to lose up there. I would recommend that if you use this toy anally, you keep it very shallow and/or have a partner present to help you with manipulating it.

On the flipside, Icicles No. 2 might be best used by yourself if you're using it vaginally, because it can hurt a lot if someone hits your cervix with a glass toy by accident.

Material / Texture

All the Icicles toys are made of Pyrex, a very safe, shatterproof, pressure-resistant type of glass. It responds very well to changes in temperature, so if you want a hot or cold sensation during use, just run the dildo under some water of the appropriate temperature for 30 seconds or so before using. Glass holds heat or cold for a good long while, though not as long as steel.

Glass feels great vaginally or anally, because of how smooth and cool it is. One of the best and most common ways to make use of glass in a sex toy is to form it into ripples, which is what the entirety of this toy is made up of. It's a strong texture that feels very nice going in and out, but it's nothing new or exciting to someone who has felt glass ripples before.

Design / Shape / Size

Icicles No. 2 is quite a bit bigger than I was expecting from looking at the photos. It's over eight inches long, and its biggest ball is 1 1/2", which is as thick as the thickest dildo I can comfortably use. That girth is only in one area, though, not the whole dildo, so it's not uncomfortable.

The graduated balls are a fun idea, and certainly pretty to look at, but I don't find them that exciting in use. I have other glass dildos with similar ripples, that also have other features like a curve or a flared base, which I prefer to use over this one.

What strikes me about Icicles No. 2 is that it's confused about its purpose. It's too long and thin to feel great vaginally, and it doesn't have the flared base I need to be able to use a toy anally without worrying. I don't think this is a toy I'll choose to use very often, because it just doesn't thrill me that much in either orifice.

While this Icicle really does look a bit like an icicle, it probably wouldn't be mistaken for a Christmas decoration. Leaving it out on your coffee table when mom comes to visit may not be the best idea. It's probably not very travel-friendly, either, since it looks like it could be used as a weapon.

Performance

Icicles No. 2 doesn't have any bells and whistles. It doesn't have a flared base, a suction cup, or a handle. It doesn't have a curve to reach your G-spot or P-spot. It's a very basic toy.

The biggest ball strokes my G-spot when I first insert it, but pushed in more than a couple of inches, the toy doesn't do much for me vaginally. It feels nice, but not nice enough for me to want to use it regularly. The small end is a complete no-go for vaginal stimulation because it's not even an inch wide and probably wouldn't be satisfying for the vast majority of vagina-owners.

This Icicle feels good anally, as anything ripply tends to do, but it still doesn't blow me away. As I mentioned before, it doesn't have a flared base, so I get nervous about pushing it too deep into me, and usually end up using less than half of it internally. The smaller side is good for warming up my ass so it can take a bigger anal toy, but that's about the only decent use I've found for it.

Care and Maintenance

Glass is easy to clean and take care of. It's nonporous, so it won't absorb any bacteria or natural fluids you get on it (including menstrual blood!). You can wash it with soap and water, or boil it, or bleach it, or even put it in the dishwasher.

You can use any kind of lube with glass toys. Just be aware that if you choose to put a condom over the toy during anal penetration, so you can go back to vaginal immediately afterward, you shouldn't use oil-based lubes, because they'll destroy the condom.

I've been storing this Icicle in the styrofoam cut-out it came packaged in, because there was no storage bag included (this is really unacceptable for a glass toy in this day and age, in my opinion). The styrofoam is big and bulky, so it's not an ideal solution. I think I may end up wrapping this toy in an old T-shirt or something.

Packaging

My Icicles No. 2 came packaged in a fancy box with a photo and description of the toy, and an openable part with a magnet closure, containing a window that allows the consumer to see the product through the box. Obviously, this is a feature geared toward brick-and-mortar customers more so than people shopping online for toys.

The packaging featured instructions on how to clean and care for the toy, which is appreciated but not strictly necessary with a material as straightforward as glass.

The toy was lodged inside a styrofoam cut-out, which easily kept it from breaking in transit but is too bulky to be used effectively as storage. All glass toys should really come with a padded bag.

Personal comments

It's possible that part of why I didn't like this toy is that I already have a few glass rippled toys. Once you've felt glass ripples, they don't really change or get more exciting at any point. If you've never felt glass ripples, this toy is a great place to start, but it's just not very interesting overall, especially for toy veterans.
Follow-up commentary
Still not impressed by this toy. I prefer my Amethyst when I'm in the mood for glass ripples, because at least the Amethyst has a G-spotting curve. This Icicle just doesn't have any cool features and my vagina doesn't think much of it.
