Pleasurable Prostate Stimulation??

Honestly, this toy did not do what it said it would! My boyfriend is unsure about prostate pleasure in general, but this toy did not help his anal exploration. It is a good size for beginners, and the handle makes it easy to gently insert and maneuver. Maybe men who know they enjoy prostate play will find this toy useful and pleasurable, but we certainly did not.

Use

The Helix is part of an entire line of prostate stimulators made by Aneros. This was also my boyfriend's first prostate stimulator. Now since he had never explored any type of prostate stimulation when he tried Helix, this review is written from a beginner's perspective. That being said I think this toy is suited for beginners. It's slim design is as non-threatening as an anal toy for men can possibly be. It is small enough to be hidden easily, making it travel friendly. Helix can be used for solo stimulation or during intercourse.
Helix is meant to be used as a hands-free prostate stimulator. The user's muscles contract around the toy causing it to rock and put pleasurable pressure on the prostate. Helix is a prostate magnet that, if used correctly, provides hands-free multiple orgasms without ejaculation. Maybe this is true for seasoned prostate veterans, but we did not get anywhere near that experience!

Material / Texture

The Aneros Helix is made of rigid white plastic. It is light but very firm and rates an 8 on the Eden safety scale. Helix is nonporous, latex and phthlates free, and hypoallergenic. This food grade quality plastic can be used with water, silicone, or oil based lubricants safely. Although it is nonporous, plastic toys can get scratches or cracks which can harbor bacteria. If you plan on sharing this toy use a condom or toy cover to be on the safe side.
Helix is completely smooth and seamless. It does not smell or taste like anything, and thankfully does not retain odors either. Helix is very abstract in appearance, it is not realistic at all. The toy is very rigid, he handle is made of thinner plastic so it is slightly flexible.

Design / Shape / Size

Helix has a total length of 4 1/2" with 4" being insertable. The diameter is 1 1/4" with a circumference of 3". The tip is blunt, not pointy at all, making insertion very easy. Helix has a bulged shape, the first bulge near the tip is the largest. The other two bulges taper down as you reach the handle. The handle consists of a semi-infinity shape with a small circle on one end to maneuver the toy and another circle on the opposite end to stimulate the perineum while inserted. The handle is comfortable when Helix is inserted, it rests comfortably between the cheeks. The neck has a diameter of 1/2". The handle's shape is unique and prevents it from ever getting lost inside.
Helix's slim design is not very filling, which I think is good for beginners. It stimulates your prostate without making you feel stuffed. The design is very sleek and handsome. I only wish Helix was offered in black.

Performance

Helix is meant to be used to stimulate the prostate without having to bother thrusting or rocking the toy. Lie on your side and relax yourself with some deep breaths. Slowly insert and nestle Helix inside, after some more breathing it is time to tighten and release your sphincter around the Aneros. It gently rocks and moves in and out slowly, causing the muscles to contract around the toy and put pressure on your prostate. This is not a butt plug or intended for extended wear, it is not a thrusting toy either. This is supposed to be a hands-free experience.
In our experience, we noticed that he lasted longer and when he did finish there was a lot more ejaculate. It was difficult for him to orgasm, this could have been because of the pressure on his prostate. It is difficult to assess the entire experience since my boyfriend is a beginner and is unsure if he even enjoys prostate stimulation. Helix pressed on his prostate and he felt chill like sensations along his entire body. At times these felt pleasurable, but it was not enough on its own to send him over the edge. He only orgasmed after I began to go down on him.

Care and Maintenance

Helix is relatively low maintenance in terms of cleaning and care. It should be stored by itself, away from other toys like all anal toys are. We keep ours in a separate pouch. It can be cleaned with antibacterial soap and warm water, disinfecting toy cleaner, or wiped down with isopropyl alcohol. Helix cannot be boiled or run through the dishwasher. Plastic can safely be used with silicone, water, or oil based lubricants since it does not react negatively with any of these compounds.

Packaging

Helix arrived in a plastic clam shell package with a cardboard insert. The package is not the least bit discreet since the toy is clearly visible. The insert is very informative about how to use this toy, best way to insert it, best positions for pleasure and tips on how to get the best results. The package snaps closed so it can be used to store Helix, although it takes up a lot of space.
    • Very informative
Follow-up commentary
Helix never quite worked out for my boyfriend and I. It was just too small and we had difficulty finding his prostate at all with it.

Sounds like it was starting to work. Try touching him in places other than his penis. Ears, nipples, where ever works for him. It is a process. How many times did he try it?

Thanks for the review. Prostate toys can be hit or miss. I've tried a few with mixed results. Don't give up. The pleasure is worth it. You may just need to find the right shape or right lube.
