Pro-pal for men - prostate massager by Doc Johnson - review by Jimbo Jones

A ½ pound of black (or white, but mine is black) plastic molded to stimulate the prostate. At first glance, I was pretty intrigued with this new toy from Doc Johnson. I think, to some degree, that the Doc Johnson designers must have looked at the success of other lines of non-vibrating prostate stimulation toys like Nexus and Aneros and decided that they could grab a piece of that action. As it turns out, the Pro Pal is a decent attempt at prostate stimulation.

As far as actual use goes, with the first bulb of the Pro Pal at about 1 ½” and going up to 1 3/8” diameters, I would not recommend this toy for an anal beginner. If, however, one has more experience with anal play, then one would probably find the Pro Pal pretty easy to handle. Speaking of handle, the Pro Pal includes an attached ring which is useful as a handle for rocking it back and forth or thrusting in and out to provide prostate stimulation. I personally thought this was one of the best features of the Pro Pal.

Now, this is the first prostate massager|Prostate massager by Doc Johnson I have tried from Doc Johnson, but it seems like the feature that is conspicuously absent from this toy is a vibrator. This should allow them to offer it at a lower price, but that may be a feature that many guys are looking for in a prostate massager|Prostate toys. I don’t think I missed it really, because most of the time the vibration motors provided in many toys don’t do much for me any way. Since it is hard plastic it seemed to transmit vibration well and I received a lot of pleasure when firmly placing my Hitachi Magic Wand vibrator against the ring of the Pro Pal. The sensation was not entirely on my prostate either.

The stubby end of the toy was pushed nicely against my perineum and scrotum, and the vibrations carried very well there also. Also, since it does not have a vibrator, the Pro Pal is safe to use in wet environments, so I was able to hop in the shower and use silicone lube with it, which was nice.

I think the one problem I have with the Pro Pal (besides the material) is that it doesn’t have much of a narrow neck below the largest bulge which would provide a place to insert to where it might stay in place comfortably and easily. Overall, I would say that this Pal is closer to Pro.

Before using the toy on me, I experimented with it on my female partner. It didn’t provide enough g-spot stimulation to suit her nor was it long enough to allow for very good thrusting. When it was inserted fully and rocked up and down, the feeling was better, but not good enough to really get her there. The stubby end of the Pro Pal did not do much for her clitoris either. Oh well, it isn’t really intended for women any way.

The black version of the Pro Pal is not slick, and as with all anal toys, it did require some lubricant to allow for comfortable entry. I found that both System JO personal anal lubricant|System JO personal anal lubricant (silicone based) and Maximus|Maximus (water based) worked well individually.
