The Tantus Cowboy is likely the largest toy you will ever own. Not only is this probe 2 3/4" around at its thickest point but at a full 16" long from end to end it requires a level of intestinal fortitude not commonly found. That said, for lovers of depth play there is no finer item to feel that tickle in your sigmoid colon and no product could be safer for your body than one made of fine Tantus silicone.

Use

I don't think there are many sex toys on the market today that are as intimidating as the Tantus Cowboy. This massive toy stands a full sixteen inches tall and is nearly three inches in diameter at its largest point. That alone would scare off most people but I urge you to look closer. The Cowboy isn't nearly as scary as it might first seem. Since the toy is pretty heavy and has a large, stable base, I suggest placing it on the floor and slowly lowering yourself onto it. You have the most control this way and the toy is a bit too heavy to hold at arm's length for an extended period. Each bulge is slightly larger than the last with a narrow connecting section between each. As you lower yourself, you can rest at each of these connectors to relax and get used to the stretch and sensation before going on. Only time and practice will get you to the bottom of this toy. Sessions that include the Cowboy will likely be pretty long. It takes time and patience to get the body to accept something this large and long and forcing the issue or rushing will not end well.

Material / Texture

It would be a stretch to call this toy anything like realistic. Nothing I know of in heaven or earth looks like the Cowboy. Frankly that doesn't bother me in the least though, I've never been much of a fan of the realistic items anyway. The texture of the toy is very smooth with bulges swelling gently from the shaft. There are no sharp edges or seams to be found anywhere on this toy which is very impressive on something so large.

The Cowboy is made of 100% food grade Silicone. At first touch, it is cool and hard to the touch. It's hard to imagine how such an unyielding toy could make the required contortions to enter the colon but fear not! The Tantus silicone warms to your body temperature and becomes softer and more flexible after a few minutes of use. Once warm, this toy can easily twist and turn inside you without compressing or collapsing into itself like a jelly toy might. Even with this feature, silicone is a relatively firm material and you will want to take it easy on yourself till you get used to the sensation.

Silicone is a non porous material that is very easy to disinfect, and warms nicely to body temperature. You will want to avoid silicone based lubes since they can damage silicone toys, and while oil based lubes are not the best, I've heard that many people have had no trouble using oil lubes with Tantus toys. Ideally you will use a thick water based lube made specifically for anal play, like Maximus.

Design / Shape / Size

I consider this toy an excellent example of graduated size increases. Just like the Triple Ripple, the Cowboy is an anal toy that starts out small and increases size in graduated bulges with depressions between each bulge that let you rest and get used to the increased size rather than getting larger all at once with no respite. The Cowboy is excellent at what it is made for and the increases in bulge diameter are very reasonable. The circumferences of the six bulges measure like so:

1 - 5.3"
2 - 6.2"
3 - 6.6"
4 - 7"
5 - 7.5"
6 - 9.2"

Taking it nice and slow is the only way to conquer this beast. The graduated bulges allow you to measure your progress with something tangible and not just "I got about halfway". Due to the size and cost of this toy, it is really an experts-only sort of item. That said, the first couple of bulges are small enough that even a beginner should be able to get started without too much trouble. Most beginners would probably not be practicing with this toy though.

Performance

Considering this toy is so massive you can't keep a very good grip on it, I was thinking at first that a suction cup would be a great feature on the Cowboy. After using it a number of times though, I've found that it's so dang heavy that it won't go anywhere. The texture of the silicone holds it tightly to whatever surface you place it on and you are able to use it hands free by lowering yourself down onto it. I can't imagine this being very harness compatible though if you could find a large enough ring I expect you could make it work. The thing is though, this beast is tough enough with just yourself in charge. I don't reckon you want the terrible power of the Cowboy in someone else's hands.

Care and Maintenance

Good old silicone, is there anything easier to clean? Besides washing it with soap and water you can even boil the dang thing. Though now that I think of it, I would love to see someone try to boil a sixteen inch long toy as thick as my arm. Personally, I use antibacterial wipes to clean my Cowboy. One or two will cover the whole thing and it comes out clean as a whistle.

As mentioned, silicone lube is a big no-no with this toy. For test purposes I put a smear of Astroglide X silicone lubricant on the edge of my Cowboy to gauge the reaction. The lube soaked into the toy and swelled up like a blister. The damage is still there but luckily not critical. Covering the entire toy with silicone lube would likely destroy it in just a few minutes.

Packaging

The packaging for the Tantus Cowboy is about as minimal as you can get. It comes in a plastic bag folded over and stapled at the top with a cardboard cutout across the top. Don't let that fool you though, if it came in a box you would have to tell people you had bought a new baseball bat or something. The plastic bag is more than enough protection for your new toy. The high grade silicone Tantus used in this toy is plenty tough to survive shipment in a bag and shrugs everything off with no trouble.

Personal comments

The Cowboy is perhaps the most intimidating toy I've ever come into contact with. I feel that people look at it and unfairly dismiss it as impossible without really considering whether or not they are capable of it. Don't sell yourself short. Everyone has their limits but the Cowboy does not represent the apogee of anal toys. It is something that can be conquered and surpassed. I encourage everyone who enjoys anal stimulation to at least consider playing with such a toy, to feel a sensation that you've likely never felt before. And if it doesn't work out, well... bad decisions make good stories.

Experience

I have always been impressed by the Tantus line of products and it was during one of my bouts of insane optimism that I ordered both the Tantus Tex and Cowboy. When both arrived, I stared for a while. The Tex was smaller than I expected and I was disappointed. The Cowboy on the other hand, stunned me. It was truly massive, far bigger than I had pictured and easily one of the largest toys I had ever seen (and I've seen the Great American Challenge in person!).

The way it went though, was that the Tex was far too large for me to use and it was six months before I managed to insert it for the first time. The Cowboy on the other hand cooperated with no trouble at all. It inserted well, I was able to slide down to the third bulge before backing off, and I was pleased. The girth was not the issue for me, I've taken toys bigger around than the Cowboy. The trouble is that not much in life can prepare you for direct stimulation of the sigmoid colon. The pressure there was so intense and so alien to me that I had to stop for the day. In later sessions however, I slowly got used to the sensation. I began to realize that this strange pressure inside me wasn't pain, just a new feeling. When I realized that, I was able to go deeper and deeper. At the time of this writing after months of practice, I can take the Cowboy down to the 5th of the 6 bulges. I expect shortly I'll be able to take the rest.
