Purple Rain

The Ryder is one of those butt plugs that seems to have it all. If you like that stretched, full feeling you just might fall in love with this plug! If you want to take the next step in anal play, I highly suggest the Ryder. I love almost every aspect of this plug. I cannot imagine a better plug to further my anal education. I do not know why it has taken me so long to try an anal toy from Tantus, but I do know that this one is not my last.

Use

The Ryder by Tantus is an intermediate/advanced butt plug. I bought it in order to make that step from beginner to intermediate, and it has served its' purposes quite well. From the rounded head down to the flexible flared base, this little gem has certainly made itself at home in my private collection of favorite sex toys.

The plush silicone makes this plug feel smaller than it looks. I have to admit to being a little worried about this plug. I am used to having a tapered tip when it comes to any type of anal toy, but more on this later.

I cannot put into words how awesome this plug is for extended wear. The flared base is thin and easy to bend, which means it will form and move with your body. This plug delivers a full feeling that just may rub some people's prostate the right way. Without a curve, it is really going to depend on your body. I wish I could tell you that it hit my prostate, but I sadly lack those types of body parts so you will just have to try it out for yourself.

If you are looking for that step between anal beginner to anal intermediate, I highly suggest the Ryder. It is small and squishy enough to get that full feeling without becoming overwhelmed by a huge diameter or circumference.

Material / Texture

After owning the Vamp (also by Tantus), I was really worried about how firm this plug was going to be. I cannot describe to you how different it feels. The silicone of the Vamp was firm, yet a little flexible. The Ryder feels like a totally different kind of silicone! It is squishy, plush, smooth to the touch, and super flexible. It is honestly like night and day. I love the Vamp's firmness for G-spot stimulation, but the super soft Ryder feels like it was made with my sensitive bum in mind. When inserting this toy, the softness keeps it from feeling overwhelming in size. This plug is completely smooth. My Ryder came to me with no seams either! The only texture to be felt or seen on this toy is the word "Tantus". This is located on the flared base.
The Ryder arrives with no smells or tastes. Since the silicone does create some drag, I suggest using your favorite water based lubes.
Silicone is one of the safest materials out there. It is non porous, which means you can disinfect it by bleaching or boiling it. It will not absorb or harbor bacteria. After the first washing, this things picked up hair and lint like nothing I had ever seen before.

Design / Shape / Size

In my opinion, the design of the Ryder is completely genius. As I said earlier, I was a little worried when it came to inserting this plug. Every anal toy I own has a tapered tip. This plug has a very blunt, rounded tip. I highly suggest warming up with a smaller, tapered tip anal toy before trying to insert the Ryder. This just prepares your bum ready for a larger, more demanding toy.
Although I suggest this, the first time I tried this plug was with my husband during sex. He lubed me up with a water based lube (I think he used ToyFluid by Fun Factory), and then inserted it. My bum had absolutely no problems accepting this toy. It popped right in and stayed there the whole time during our play session. I did not want to take it out after we were done, so I continued to wear it for the rest of the day. Since day one, I have never had a problem when it came to inserting the Ryder. I look back on it now, and I think "Why were you so worried?". If I have not played in a while, I definitely warm up with different plugs before playing with this one. If I know I have a lot of running around to do in town, I pop this bad boy in. I cannot think of a better plug to wear for a long period of time. It has taken a while for me to try a Tantus anal toy, and I am so satisfied that I will definitely be purchasing more in the future.

Measurements:

Total Length- 4 1/4"

Insertable Length-3 3/4"

Diameter- 1 1/2"

Circumference- 4 3/4"

Weight-0.5 lbs

The weight just adds that extra something when you wear it around for a long while. You can constantly feel it in your bum, and the weight puts that little skip in my step whenever I am wearing it.
Whenever you try to insert the Ryder, please take your time. If you get frustrated, put the toy down and try a different one! After you have warmed up some more, try again. The blunt head can be very tricky the first couple of times, but do not give up! Once you get it all the way in, you will be glad you kept trying.

This plug is definitely better for the average/advanced users. As stated before, this is a great toy for those trying to take the step from beginner to intermediate anal play.
While this plug does not scream "Sex Toy", it is definitely not discreet. If traveling with it, I suggest putting it in a small Ziploc bag. I say this because, this thing is a Huge Lint Magnet.
The picture below is trying to show the flexibility of the base.

Performance

I am extremely pleased with the Ryder as an extended wear plug and as a plug to pop in during a quickie. It is an overall well made plug. It has become one of my bum's best buddies. I do not mind the flexible neck and base. Yes it makes inserting it a little difficult, but in the long run it creates a very comfortable environment.
My only complaint is the how fast it picks up dust, lint, and pet hair! I mean look at the picture below! I had just washed it not 2 minutes ago. I set it down, and it was covered all over again.

Care and Maintenance

Besides glass, silicone is one of the easiest materials to care for and clean. For everyday cleaning or cleaning between uses I clean with warm water and an antibacterial soap (you can always substitute with your favorite toy cleaner). If you prefer a deeper clean, I suggest wiping Ryder down with a 10% bleach solution or boiling it for about 3-5 minutes.
If you do not immediately place the plug in some sort of packaging after it has dried, Ryder will start picking up lint and pet hair like crazy! It is your choice as to what you store it in, but I place Ryder in a Ziploc bag.
Remember to only use water based lubes with this and any other silicone toy you have.

Packaging

The Ryder comes in the typical Tantus packaging. The front of the box is clear, which makes the entire toy visible. I have no problem with this, but for those who need to be discreet this may be a problem. The Ryder is held in a plastic tray inside of the box. If you have nothing else, you can use the original packaging as storage. I like to use a Ziploc bag to help keep the lint problem at bay. This also makes it easier to stuff in a drawer and hide away from prying eyes.
If the complete view of the toy does not give this away, the words "The World's Best Soft Toys For Adults" will probably be a huge hint that this is indeed a sex toy. There are no crude pictures or words, but there are subtle hints all over the box about what this is.
Tantus does tell you that the Ryder can be bleached and boiled for deep cleaning.

Personal comments

I have recently been on the hunt for some awesome butt plugs. I recently wrote a review on the Luxotiq anal plug. I love each one equally, because they are both so different. They both make me happy and keep me satisfied, but in completely different ways. I really wanted to highlight those differences for you guys.

First off, let us start with the length. The Luxotiq plug is a little taller than the Ryder. The Ryder reminds me of a short, yet built man. The Luxotiq plug reminds me of a tall, skinny guy. Both are great, but the Ryder definitely fills you up faster.

Next, we will be looking at the tips or heads of both anal plugs. This is where one of the key differences are. The Luxotiq has a small tapered tip, before moving on to the biggest part. The Ryder holds nobody prisoner. It starts off with a very blunt, rounded head. There is no gradual increase climb to the widest part, but it does give you that instant stretch and fullness.

The last and final stop on the tour is the neck and base. The neck of the Luxotiq is shorter and a lot thinner than the Ryder's neck. This makes keeping the plug in a tad bit easier, but the longer and wider neck of the Ryder helps you retain that stretched and full feeling.

The base is the easiest difference to see with the naked eye. The base of the Luxotiq is in the shape of a circle, and it is very firm as it is made of glass. This makes it easier to hold onto for thrusting or inserting, but it can cause discomfort when sitting or wearing for a long period of time. The Ryder's base is a rectangular shape, and it is made out of silicone. Ryder's base is extremely flexible. This can pose a problem when inserting. You need to hold it at the top of the neck in order to insert it. The flexible base also has positive! It forms and flexes with your body. This makes it super comfortable for long term wear.

Experience

The Ryder comes in three different colors: Purple, Black, and Copper. I would have loved to get the copper colored one, but it was out of stock. The purple looks much darker on the product page, but it is still a beautiful color. Mine has some purple swirls on the side and the bottom of the base.

Trying to show the swirls.
