Rocket To The Moon

If you want your rim gemmed, look no further. The Mini is an excellently sized plug with a bit of an aesthetic pleaser, a small gem in the base. I had to deduct a star because for advanced users, the base size could be small enough to create big problems. However, if you're new to anal play and love or want to try metal, this plug feels as fantastic as it looks.

Use

The Mini is a beautiful spectacle of a plug, from the tapered tip, all the way down to the bedazzled base which is adorned with a purple hued gem. The base tapers down to its largest at a 3 3/4" diameter, and the shined aluminum is a material great for temperature play and easy cleaning.

This size is ideal for those who are comfortable with anal plugs, but may not be used to taking much larger items consistently. Beginners may find the size a little intimidating, but it's actually excellent for them, as it's easy to insert and comfortable during use.

Material / Texture

Aluminum rates a high 8 on the safety scale, as it's non-porous and really easy to clean and sterilize. It not only resists rust and corrosion, but you can heat this toy up by putting it into a warm bowl of water before insertion, or if you like a chilly sensation, putting it in the refrigerator or cold water. The aluminum appears shiny and polished, though there are barely visible lines from when it was being manufactured. You can't feel them, nor do they take away from the way the toy looks. If I had to take a guess, the gem is either hard plastic or glass.

The entire toy is smooth to the touch and is really amazing for insertion. With a little lube, the plug will have a slick surface that is easy to insert, but can slip, so be careful when you're inserting. There was absolutely no odor when I opened my package and I was just really excited about trying a new material with a plug. I was scared at first that when I tried to insert it. I was nervous that it would slip and just plunge into me before I was ready. If you hold the plug steady and push gently, the material just makes it slide in easier and won't slip and slide around.

Design / Shape / Size

Cal Exotics offers two different lengths in this plug, and I got the smallest, which is 3 3/4". This plug is on the small side, but it's made of aluminum, which means it's going to be a little heavier than your average silicone plug. It weighs in .3 lbs, and while that sounded heavy to me at first, it didn't feel so heavy inserted. I find that I like the slight bit of weight, but I hate how heavy glass items are, so this was a perfect in-between for me.

I love my little hiney hugger and I've done just about everything comfortably while wearing the Mini. The base fits snuggly between my cheeks, and when I spread them, there's a pretty violet gem peeking out for my partner to see. The gem seems to be glued to the base with adhesive. While adhesive may not last forever, I don't think I'll need to worry about the gem going anywhere anytime soon. It seems to be glued down extremely well and doesn't show any signs of budging. After about 30 minutes of wearing my plug, the rounded edges did start to bother me a little comfort wise. My ass cheeks were pushing into it and it was creating a little bit of an indentation in them. It wasn't agonizing and I kept it in for about ten more minutes, but it can get uncomfortable if you're sitting for a long period of time. Aluminum is harder than silicone or plastic, of course, so it can be a little bit harsher on your ass inserting and taking out, as it just doesn't have as much give as other materials other than glass. This is a great plug for someone just beginning with anal plugs or metal plugs, as it was my first metal plug and it was a great size for me to insert. I expected it to hurt, but the taper in the base really helped me get used to the size as I inserted it.

The diameter of this plug is 1 1/4", while the circumference is 4". This is pretty good for someone who has had some anal experience, but still wants to stay on the small side. If you're a beginner looking for a plug, this could definitely work for you, but may be a little intimidating size wise at first. It's a weighty material, and that can be intimidating for newcomers to ass play. The insertable length is 3 3/4" if all the way inserted, which is a pretty good length and is what's comfortable for me, personally. The tapered portion seems like it'd be painful since it's pointed, but you don't feel it much during use and it really helps for ease of putting this plug in, so it didn't bother me and probably won't bother you during use.

Now that the plug size for beginners has been addressed, we can move on to how this plug could be a problem for someone completely used to using anal items. Advanced users can run into a problem using this plug, simply because when you take an ass that is used to much larger things being put into it, something this small could confuse it and lead to problems. To put it bluntly, it can eat the plug, and then you have a really awkward situation to deal with. I find that you can use anything homemade to act as a cord around the base so if you have any doubts, you can safely retrieve it without a trip to the hospital. The base hasn't given me personally any trouble with this. I'm no stranger to anal or bigger plugs, but I don't play anally often, so this plug fits snuggly with no problem. However, I'd suggest putting it in first if you're going to play anally and then using something bigger, so that when you put this plug in you aren't already stretched and you won't have the worry of it slipping inside.

I've included a picture of the Mini compared to the Fun Factory Bootie, which was the first plug I ever used.

Performance

This little guy performs great and I've had it in for 45 minutes at a time before my ass suggested a break. You could use it vaginally, but the length kind of lacks for any G-spot pleasure. However, if you love temperature play and wanted to rub this against the outside of your labia or clit, I'd go for it. I've done it myself and really love the cold feeling. It can slip around or out a bit, but when this happens during use, I kind of just give it a little push and it's right back in again. Because of the slick surface and use of lube, this is pretty normal and happens with most of my silicone plugs, as well. Taking it out is a breeze and a lot less uncomfortable for me than my curved plugs or ones with drag. The tapered tip really aids in it being a really comfortable plug to use and I'm a fan of using metal now, which is originally why I tried this model in the first place. You don't have to use a lot of lube on the surface, as it's pretty slick by itself, but a dab will go a long way and it's not a hassle to keep reapplying lube during usage. I would suggest Sliquid's Sassy. It's an amazing anal lube and what I use with all of my anal toys.

Care and Maintenance

Aluminum shields against corrosion, so this plug won't be any cause for concern for rusting with use in water over time. You can clean the non-porous surface with the method you'd like. I use antibacterial soap and warm water, but you could also use toy cleaners, wipes, or a 10% bleach solution. You could even choose to boil it or put it in the dishwasher, however, the gem is glued on with adhesive and it may decide to pop off if you boil it too often over time. It's probably safe the first few times, but I stick to warm water and soaps with my toys, as its easiest and I don't share them a lot. If the gem does happen to pop off with use, a dot of superglue will adhere it right back into place again.

The size is small, so it's easy to store anywhere you'd like. It fits in any toy bag or zip-loc bag, but I store mine the packaging it came in. I'd be careful with tossing the plug around or storing it in a drawer where it rolls consistently. Aluminum isn't knicked or damaged easily, but I take care of this plug the way I would a glass toy, just so the surface doesn't get scratched or damage over time.

Packaging

My toy didn't come with a storage pouch or bag, which bummed me out a little. The original packaging is okay for storage, though, as it's a tiny, tiny box that's just a few inches longer than the plug itself. It's got a nice inlay of black satin inside that fits the plug perfectly, and a plastic covering on the outside for a lid. It's really easy to open and close and put into a drawer when you want it hidden or out of sight. The packaging does have large writing on it and a crystal clear case, so you can see the plug inside from a mile away. The size is great to be tucked away, but if someone were to see the box, they would immediately know what it is.

Experience

I might have squealed a little when I saw this on Eden and couldn't be anymore excited to receive it. I've always wanted a plug like this, which have been dubbed "Princess Plugs" on the internet, and the metal just looked like it'd feel wonderful when inserted. I was a little nervous about the size prior to trying it, as it looks a lot bigger than it really feels. It doesn't feel tiny and provides a good bit of stretch, but it didn't hurt putting it in after I hadn't played anally in close to 2 months. The material made insertion a breeze and it barely hurt. After wearing it for almost an hour and being excited to have it, I cleaned it easily with warm water and put it back in its packaging. My partner especially loves this in, as the gem is something different and makes playing with a butt plug a lot more aesthetically pleasing. I think that this plug gives a lot of variety in both its material and the way it looks. I love that Cal Exotics made it so affordable and comfortable to use, and also in two different lengths.

I had no problems with the base slipping inside of me, and really, not even close. My ass hugs this so snuggly that you'd think they were best friends. I mainly had problems with it wanting to slip out since the base is so narrow, and it would kind of just poke up weirdly. It didn't bother me though, and it was comfortable no matter what position I was in.

If you love temperature play, this plug has more than one use. You can ice it down or heat it up and drag it over your neck, nipples, legs, or anywhere you'd like. Even at room temperature, it can feel a little cool against your body's heat. This makes metal and glass items so much fun to play with. A metal plug can also be used with electric play, and is magnetic and any sort of magnetic weights can be used, though I'm not sure how much this plug would be able to hold without popping out. I love metal because it gives the user plenty of options to incorporate it into their play.
Follow-up commentary
Though it's not the most comfortable plug I'll ever own, it's definitely the prettiest. I still love the unique feeling of aluminum and the factor that temperature play can be involved. The texture makes this plug comfortable and easily inserted or taken out. It's also super easy to clean, which is a big bonus about this material.
