Sexy Both In And Out Of The Shower

More advanced users may find the diameter of the beads on this strand to be too small. For a beginner, though, they should be just right. I would even recommend experimenting with these beads before trying anything like a small butt plug. The beads are smaller and the teardrop shape of the beads makes them much easier for someone who has never tried anal play to insert. The fact that the insertable portion of the toy is made of pure silicone makes it safe and easy to clean.

Use

Anal beads are meant to be inserted into the anus and then SLOWLY pulled out at some point, often while having sex with a partner. There may not be much sensation while they're up there - they're pretty thin, after all. The pleasure of anal beads is meant to be derived from the sensation of each bead slowly popping out of the anus as the string is pulled. It's popular to suggest doing this at the point of orgasm, but you can really do it at pretty much any point that you think it would feel good. Because of the nature of the toy, it's not very versatile. You can insert them and pull them out, and... well, that's about it.

Anal beads can be used with a partner - either inserting or removing them yourself, allowing your partner to insert or remove them for you, or doing the same to your partner. They can also be used solo while masturbating with your hand or another toy. Using this particular toy in the shower is possible but tricky - you may need to constantly reapply your lube.

It's important to remember that the rectum does not produce its own lubrication, so you will need to use plenty of lube.

Material / Texture

Pure silicone is one of my favorite materials because it's so velvety, and these anal beads are no exception. The insertable portions of the toy - the beads - are crafted from pure silicone. They're smooth and silky to the touch, waterproof, hypoallergenic, and phthalate free. They have no odor. There is a very faint visible seam along one side that you can feel if you run your thumb along the strand of beads, but you can't feel it once you've inserted them and it's not a source of irritation. The beads have a slight give to them. They aren't squishy, but they aren't hard. The material is exceptionally flexible, but despite its flexibility it's still pretty strong. The pull ring at the end of the strand is translucent plastic. This means that your cleaning options are a little bit more limited, but also seriously lessens the chance that the ring will snap because plastic is less likely to tear than silicone.

Size Comparison

This toy is made of solid silicone "beads" that form a flexible strand. They are directly attached to each other, so there's no actual string involved. Each bead is roughly 1 inch long and 1 inch in diameter. It's a fairly "classic", standard anal bead toy design with a few subtle tweaks.

All of the beads are the same size and shape. The oblong teardrop shape of the beads, which are slimmer and slightly pointed where they would enter the anus, aids with insertion. The back end of the beads - where they would drag against your anus as you pulled the string back out - is not pointed and has a full rounded shape that makes removing them pleasant. The beads are a good size for beginners. They're smaller in circumference than my index finger. More advanced users may find them unsatisfying for this reason.

Unlike other toys, the pull ring is made of hard plastic that is firmly attached to the end of the strand. It feels thick and sturdy. Because the designer opted for plastic, there's a far lower chance that the ring might tear than if it had been made of silicone like the rest of the toy. I have no worries at all about it detaching or breaking. The entire chain of beads feels sturdy and I think that it would take considerable force to tear or snap any part of this toy. It does not seem to attract a lot of lint.

I've read some reviewers voice concerns about the plastic pull ring getting pulled in due to its small diameter. With a 1.5" diameter, I can see how that's a possibility. But even then, due to how the ring is shaped, I don't think it's a serious danger. I never felt like they were in danger of slipping inside.

flexibility

Because the toy is so flexible, it can be a bit of a challenge to insert. This isn't unusual for anal beads, though, and like all anal toys it's not impossible - it just takes a bit of patience. Take it one bead at a time. One of the nicest things about the flexibility is that it will move with you while you move around and have sex. It's very comfortable and has never produced a poking feeling for me.

This toy is not discreet. These are clearly anal beads.

Performance

If you have any idea of what anal beads are or do, figuring out how to use these is kind of a no-brainer. You pop the beads up your butt and pull the ring on the end.

Inserting such a flexible toy takes a little time and patience. Like any anal toy, it requires a great deal of lube - but inserting a flexible, slippery strand of fairly small beads can be difficult when both hands and toy are covered in lube.

The narrow tips of the insertion-end of the beads made them very easy to insert once I got a decent grip on them. The beads are very smooth and comfortable and their blunt rounded bottoms created a nice sensation when the strand was slowly pulled out. The pull-chain was still easy to grip and pull even with slippery hands.

Care and Maintenance

Pure silicone is one of the safest materials a toy can be made of. The plastic pull ring, while it is still a fairly safe material, limits cleaning options. If you attempt to boil this toy, it may melt, but the plastic stands up to fairly hot water. I disinfect with a toy cleaner, wipe it with a cloth, and give it a good scrub with antibacterial soap and the hottest water I can stand.

The fact that it's a strand of beads means that you can't use a condom over it. It also makes it kind of a pain in the butt to clean as you need to make sure you've thoroughly cleaned the spaces between the beads. If you use a cloth to wipe and scrub and just move down the chain bead by bead starting at the pull ring, though, it's more likely you'll do a thorough job. It's not my favorite toy to clean, but it's not the worst thing in the world. It didn't come with a storage pouch or anything so I place it in a gallon zip-lock bag and put it in my toy drawer.

Silicone lube can be great for anal play, but don't use silicone lube with this silicone toy because it could damage your toy. Use a water-based anal lube.

Packaging

This toy came in clear hard plastic packaging. There was nothing special or horrible about the packaging, and it wasn't difficult to open. It's useless for storing the toy in, though. It prominently displays the toy, so it's not discreet. It probably wouldn't make the greatest gift packaging. At least it's recyclable.

Personal comments

I really enjoyed using these beads. I spent a lot of time debating which beads to buy - after all, anal beads are anal beads, right? Well, not quite. Subtle things like the shape of the beads make this toy more enjoyable for someone who is new to using beads. This is a good beginner toy.

Experience

I wasn't sure to expect when my toy finally arrived. I'd used butt plugs before, but not anal beads. I removed them from the packaging and tossed the package. I then lubed them up, lay on my back, and got to work.

Like most other sex toys, they're easier to insert when you are aroused. Unlike my first butt plug, inserting them was not a battle. I don't think it would have been one even if I didn't have experience with butt plugs and it makes me wish I'd tried the beads first.

Once I had inserted them, I really couldn't feel them except for being able to feel the pull ring pressing against my anus. This was reassuring rather than irritating because I wasn't worried if the beads - which I otherwise could not feel - had slipped all the way into my rectum.

At this point, I felt a little disappointed. This didn't seem to be anything special or offer me anything new beyond "well, I've never stuck beads up my butt so I guess I can mark that off my list". I got to work with other toys and kind of forgot that they were there for a while. Once I was close to orgasm, I remembered them and slowly began removing them. This is when I developed a new-found appreciation for this toy.

Generally my first experiences with new types of anal toys are not always 100% positive, either due to inexperience or the fact that my anus is unusually stubborn (probably a combination of both). The anal beads are unique in that they are the first anal toy where I can honestly say that I loved my first experience with them. They felt far more wonderful as I removed them than I expected. They weren't mind-blowing orgasm inducing, but they definitely added to the pleasure of the experience. I can see how having a partner use them on me could be incredibly sensual. I definitely want to experiment with different shapes and sizes now.

As for using them in the shower (they are called "Sex in the Shower", after all) - that's a bit more tricky. The toy itself is water-proof but water alone is NOT a good anal lube, and you can't use silicone lube with silicone toys. Figuring out how to balance enjoying my shower without getting anal rug burn was a little bit tricky. The first time, I settled for sticking my butt out of the stream of water until I'd gotten them inserted. After that, I just insert them BEFORE I step in the shower. Even if you opt to do that, you'll probably still need to reapply lube to the outer portion of your anus before pulling them out.

Follow-up commentary
They're sturdy and they're as waterproof as the product claims - although I honestly never use them in the shower.
