Tristan 1.5 - butt plug discontinued by Vixen Creations, Inc - review by David88

The Tristan 1.5 is an anal butt plug designed for those already familiar with anal stimulation. The Tristan is its smaller brother and is a better recommendation for those still new to anal stimulation. For those that are ready to move up to a more Medium/Large butt plug this is your guy. While theoretically possible to be used vaginally, this toy will provide more pleasure in your butt.

My number one use for this is during masturbation sessions where I can focus on what I'm feeling in my butt and don't have to worry about rushing and can take my time stretching. This toy can also be used by both men and women during intercourse although it may try to slide out on you depending on the position. Oral sex while lying flat is probably my favorite use during partner play but mutual masturbation or manual play would also work equally well. While some people have had good luck using this and the other Tristan's for long term wear, I have not and so this may be a hit or miss thing depending on your individual body.

As with all silicone toys, Tristan 1.5 has the ability for some temperature play however if you find you are really into this then purchasing a glass or metal toy would be a good recommendation as they can hold a temperature for longer than silicone.

This plug feels like it just barely misses my prostate, however because the base is fairly flexible I can actually push up on the base and feel it rubbing against my prostate. This is also a great plug for practicing kegels with and can provide some pleasure from the squeezing around the neck and the in and out motion of the toy. I don't know if I would call this plug travel friendly due to its decent size but it's most certainly possible.

The Tristan 1.5 is made 100% out of silicone and being made by Vixen Creations means its VERY soft silicone. You can easily squeeze it in your hands and with a little force bend the head sideways. Being made out of silicone also means its nonporous (requires less lube, easier to clean & sterilize able). This toy neither had a smell when I got it or after repeated uses being cleaned with just soap and water. I was pleasantly surprised with the color of this toy. I think I still like the dark purple of the original Tristan just a little better but this color is also very attractive. The material is completely smooth with no seems or raised edges except for the Vixen Creations inscription on the base. This can not be felt in use though.

The design of all the Tristan's is hailed to be one of the best designs and while a good one, I still like the design of the Tantus Ace Royal the best since it has an even longer neck and is easier to hold in. Don't get me wrong it's still a great design though and the real kicker is the great silicone from Vixen Creations. As far as size goes, this is definitely a step up from the original Tristan. You can compare this to the original Tristan by reading my review of the original Tristan here. All in all it's a nice step up from the original or any plug around 1.5" in diameter. I would not recommend this plug for those just starting out but if you're up for a challenge, those with a decent amount of anal experience should be able to handle and enjoy this toy. With this being a larger plug it will take some more work to get in and even once in will take a few minutes to adjust to the size. With this also comes the reward of a greater stretch and, at least for me, subsequent better orgasms. After the first time using this toy I felt pretty sore. Not so much my anus but my actual butt cheeks. In subsequent uses this hasn't been an issue and I'm almost positive the reason for this discomfort was because I was testing out how well this plug stays in standing up and my guess is I over worked my muscles trying to keep it in. Because of this I recommend this plug be used laying down not standing. This plug can be used while sitting but the base does stick out a little bit which can feel good rubbing with subtle motions but more intense movements can be a little uncomfortable. As you can see it's a fair amount thicker than the original Tristan base. Although I'm told the black Tristan has a thicker base that may be more comparable to the 1.5. When used properly this plug is VERY comfortable especially for its size and I've had a great time reviewing it.

Silicone is very easy to clean and as long as you're not sharing soap and water is all that is necessary between uses. If sharing either boil in water or use a bleach solution to sterilize it. The included packaging is great for storing the Tristan 1.5 in as long as you have the room for it. It is recommended not to store silicone toys touching because if they aren't 100% silicone there could be some reaction. I've become more lenient on this and have not seen any issues but cheaper toys may. One thing you definitely shouldn't do is use silicone lube with this toy as that has a fairly high chance of causing deterioration to the toy. If you decide to use silicone lubricant, then do a spot test on the base to see if there is any reaction first.

All the Vixen Creations toys I've ever gotten have come packaged in a cylindrical container with red caps on each end. Comparing it to the one my Tristan came in there is absolutely no difference. The only way to tell is to look on the bottom at the UPCs. Enclosed inside the packaging is a note from Tristan Taormino. Outside of this there is no real directions but it's fairly self explanatory what to do with it. The container is excellent for storing the toy in.

I really liked this version of the Tristan. I can still see myself using the original Tristan at times when I don't want such a stretch but comparing the two I'm starting to grow fonder of the Tristan 1.5 over the original. I hope to eventually try out the 2.0 but I think I need some more practice with this one first.
