Spectra gel. It really smells.

To me, this toy isn't worth it. The smell and stickiness are complete turn offs for me. If you can get past these things, it would be enjoyable for anal use but don't expect the vibrations to wow you.

The Spectra gel beaded anal vibrator from Cal Exotics is a vibrating toy that is meant for anal stimulation. It can be used both for stimulating the anal opening and for insertion. It is also waterproof and can be used in the bath or shower.

This probe is not overly intimidating and would be useful for beginners as well as more advanced users who like vibrating anal toys. It can be used any time that anal play is on your mind and works well with or without a partner. If sharing this toy, it is important to use a condom as jelly toys cannot be sterilized.

Material / Texture

I have to say that I don't like anything at all about the material. It smells like grape and plastic very, very strongly. When I first opened it, the smell was enough to stink up my whole bedroom and actually gave me a headache. It also tastes like it smells, which isn't pleasant at all.

This gel is also pretty sticky and picks up lint, dust, dirt, hair...anything that it's exposed to for even a second. I dropped it on the floor, un-lubricated, and despite my floors being relatively clean it was covered in any stray particle that was lying around.

When lubricated, the toy is less sticky and feels much more smooth, but I still didn't enjoy it. The graduated beads provide interesting texture during insertion but aren't enough to redeem this toy in my eyes. In fact, I think this has turned me off to jelly toys, period.

Design / Shape / Size

I do enjoy the shape and size of the toy. The varying sizes of the beads make this toy something great to start out with during an anal play session, and they are small enough not to be intimidating.

Design wise, this toy could be better. The vibrator inside the toy is flimsy and the outer gel covering peels away from it around the edges. It doesn't seem very secure, although the vibrating bit did not come out when I tried to pull it out. The loose edges though seem like a great place for lube to end up (and stay there) and for bacteria to build up, making this toy seem un-hygenic. Especially with a toy that is used anally, I look for something that can be easily and thoroughly cleaned, and this toy doesn't fit the bill.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy is very simple. The vibrator inside is covered by a gel sleeve. The vibrations are easily adjusted from low to high with a turn of the dial on the bottom. The vibrations aren't very strong and are mainly felt near the base of the toy. This toy can be rather noisy but less so when inserted. I think that as long as it's under the covers and the door is closed, you'd be safe. This toy is not waterproof.

Care and Maintenance

Since this toy is made of jelly, it cannot be sterilized and must be cleaned with soap and water or with toy cleaner. It can be used with both water and silicone based lubricants.

This toy needs to be stored carefully. As I mentioned, it's a MAGNET for EVERYTHING it comes into contact with. I would recommend storing it in a plastic baggie, as even a toy pouch might have some lint or stray threads inside it.

Ewww, I hate smelly toys. If you like the shape, I'd suggest looking at the Tantus Ripple large. It is 100% silicone, therefore no odor and its non porous.
