The Backend Starter – beginner butt plug is pretty much exactly what the name says. It's an excellent, classically shaped, small, beginner butt plug for those who are new to anal play or like to warm up slowly.

The Backend Starter is made from purple TPR and has a smooth, polished finish. The TPR material gives it a nice firm but flexible feeling that is easy to insert but not so firm that it's uncomfortable.

Directly out of the box there was a slight chemical smell but that wore off quickly.

The Backend Starter has a classic butt plug shape. It's maximum diameter is 1 inch then narrows to about a half inch before the flared base. The narrow neck gives it a very secure feeling while inserted, even during energetic thrusting motion.

This butt plug performed perfectly for us. It has a great shape with a firm but still flexible feeling material. When inserted it was easy to keep in and comfortable. Personally I would prefer that it be about 1 inch longer for prostate stimulation, but that's a personal opinion and not part of the plugs design.

This is the area where the Backend Starter has it's greatest disadvantage. While the TPR material feels and looks great it's not quite as easy to care for and sanitize as 100% silicone would be.

Considering it's an anal toy you will want to make sure to clean it using soap and warm water plus a specialized toy cleaner. If it was silicone I would run it through the dishwasher also, but TPR can't withstand those temperature.
