The lil guy - probe discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by squire

One of the best features I found about this plug is the extended length and girth of the tip, which is about 1" wide and 2" long. This was an enjoyable part for me as it functioned almost like a probe for faster thrusting, and added a function for my partner to be a part of as well. Once you get close to the 1 3/4' bulb in the middle thrusting would kind of become a challenge for some I would suspect. Though possible to be used in a harness, its length and size decrease that as being a possibility, but as a vaginal toy it works. I had my partner test this guy out, which led her to mention quite like I did, that the bulb and the base made for a more intense sensation at one's opening. It didn't reach her G spot but she liked its ability to transmit vibrations when coupled with a bullet.

The base is flared for safe hands free use. It can used while sitting flat on any surface really, and is good for temperature play and partner play due to material quality.

The lil guy is a solid looking plug from Doc Johnson, made of their premium platinum grade silicone that is phthalate free, hypoallergenic, non-porous, and latex free. My first impressions were that this plug looked great. I bought the charcoal model and it arrived looking smokey and semi-blended in color. This might not be ideal for others, but I tend to like it as it makes the toy unique to me and attractive. Its shape is not terribly realistic. It has a slick and smooth surface that glides when covered in lubricant. Its martial and smooth texture adds to ease of insertion. It retained heat and cold well for temperature play and the silicone is plush with a little give. Given the size and minimal give, I'd recommend this plug for beginners or intermediate anal players.

What initially caught my attention to this toy was the bulb in the middle of the toy. It was located, in proximity to the base, in such a way where it looked like it could feel filling and stay still when inserted. As someone who enjoys pressure around the anus, this plug certainly fit the bill with ease. With a length of 4 1/4", insertable length of 3 3/4", circumference of 5 1/4", and widest diameter of 1 3/4", this plug could fill and have its presence known; but this is also where some of the challenge for me came in. Its base is close to the one bulge in the neck of this toy and with that short distance between the two, combined with minimal tapering between the neck and bulge, I found my lil guy popping out during active play. For those with a smaller body frame, this plug has the potential to stay in place and to remain enjoyable.

As previously mentioned, this toy is filling, has some variability in it's function, can be shared, and fits the bill for the price point. With that said, for my larger body type and anatomy, this little guy couldn't meet my expectations in 2 important areas. First, the short 3/4" neck below the bulb was not a long enough neck to fit comfortable between my anus and sphincters, especially considering the bulb is 1 3/4" wide with little tapering, leading to some discomfort and popping out. Second, though smooth silicone, the bottom of my plug had sharply trimmed edges, leading to discomfort between my cheeks. There were aspects of this toy I enjoyed, but for me the expectations of comfort and fit made this lil guy fall short for my body type.

As with many other silicone toys, this lil guy is non-porous and is relatively easy to clean due to his material. You can boil this toy, throw it in the dishwasher, or use a 10% bleach solution to ensure cleanliness and safety when shared with a partner. Being that lil guy is silicone, water based lubricant is a must to insure the longevity of this toy as silicone lube can bond and destroy the toy. At first glance this toy had no smell and after continued use this proved to still be the case. I stored my guy in a big bin with my other silicone toys but others might want to be more careful. The primary ways that I can see this plug getting damaged is due to storage, but then again this isn't a terribly expensive toy that couldn't be replaced.

Packaging for this plug was your traditional clamshell plastic casing, perfect for hanging this toy on a hook or off a shelf but pretty much useless when it comes to storing in your drawer. The packaging was long, measuring twice the length of the toy so it could be a challenge to use discreetly as a storage container. With that said, it arrived intact and free of damage and that's the most important thing for me.

I will say that in the packaging, Doc Johnson did a good job at using their advertising space to boldly label this toy as high grade silicone, chose colors pleasing to the eye as foreground, and clearly labeled the positive qualities of this toy. By looking at it, one can very quickly see that they are getting a quality product.

I gave this toy a few attempts to really get a sense for what its strengths were and I found those right away. Its comfort and use as a probe was instantly identifiable and the stretch of the bulb was a filling sensation I enjoyed. It was clean, easy to use, discrete, and not as much of a lint magnet as I had expected. Though as a stationary plug, I found it to be less exciting and functional. With my partner I learned to enjoy it more. It's a non-threatening addition to our toy collection that allows my partner to feel apart of my sexual experience and pleasure, which is important to me. I say it's non threatening due to it still having many comfortable functions aside from the one primarily intended that didn't work out.
