They Couldn't Think of a Better Name?

I find myself reaching for this toy more often than I thought I would. That includes one time while I was in the middle of writing this review. I'm not using it right now though. Promise.

Use

I logged on to see my new assignment, somewhat fearful of another giant black dildo or vibrating lip-shaped cock ring. Oh, a German-made silicone prostate stimulator. I had long been in the state of almost-buying-one, so I eagerly accepted. I immediately saw a slight problem though. All right, let's imagine... you're lying there in bed with your partner, she has you so turned on you can barely stand it. She touches your ass and whispers in your ear, "Should I get the Prostata Booster?"

You'd never imagine the name of a toy alone could kill the entire mood. Prostata Booster? It sounds like something I'd see in a spam email promising to improve my sex life with a new wonder pill at 80% off. Prostata is simply German for Prostate, which leads to far too many results when trying to search for information about the toy. I think the company would have been much better off with a more unique name for ease of online searching and identification, and even simply to make the toy sound less serious. I'm a major fan of Fun Factory, so I was excited to see something from JoyDivision/JoyStick, another German toy company. A quick visit to their website though shows that quite a few of their toys appear to be spin-offs of the Fun Factory style toys. Likewise, this new prostate stimulator appeared to be a spin-off of the Rude Boy or Naughty Boy by Rocks Off Limited. I was hence a bit skeptical.

The Booster is very clearly designed to be a male prostate stimulator. The upper curved end slides in anally, while the lower ridged portion rests against the perineum and base of the balls. The upper inserted end tapers down to a thinner diameter towards the bottom, allowing the sphincter to rest comfortably around it and prevent the toy from sliding out. Once inserted, the upper end rests against the prostate inside the lucky recipient ass. The ribbed section then rests against the perineum and back of the balls. This is a definite plus, as neglecting the balls leads to jealousy amongst body parts in such close proximity, and is a sure-fire way to spoil a party. The Booster successfully caresses everything at once.

A vibrator is located in the base. It may be removable, but it doesn't easily slide out and I wasn't about to force it. In the pictures it looks like the typical bullets that come inserted in toys such as the silicone dildos from brands such as Vixen and Tantus, but in actuality it's longer and uses a AAA battery instead of button cells. The vibrator also has three intensities, which are cycled through as you push the button. An O-ring seals the battery compartment, rendering the whole toy waterproof.

Once inserted, the Booster serves as a great additional stimulation when masturbating and allows you to sit down while it's inserted. Sitting also allows you to push down or rock against the base, which not only changes the focus of the vibrations, but also moves the position of the inserted end inside you. I see no reason why it couldn't be used during sex, though I haven't had the opportunity to try that.

Material / Texture

The Booster is 100% silicone with a silky smooth non-porous texture, not a glossy "polished" texture sometimes found on other silicone toys. As I expect from any good silicone toy, it's devoid of any smell or taste. It's softer than it first appeared to me in the pictures; It has give when squeezed, and easily bends at the thinner portion. In other words, when holding one end the other end is free to wiggle around. The bullet housing of course is silver-colored plastic.
    • Flexible
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The shape is surprisingly effective. I was a bit concerned before receiving it, when I saw the diameter listed in the specifications as 1 3/8" wide. Upon receiving it I realized this diameter applies to the lower non-insertable portion. The upper inserted end doesn't appear to be more than 1" in diameter, while tapering down to about 5/8" at the thinnest region, which the sphincter rests on. With a suitable lube, such as Maximus, the tip slides in without much effort as long as you use a gentle in-and-out motion, which feels quite nice on its own given the shape!
    • Discreet look/design
    • Futuristic

Performance

The performance seems to overlap with the experience section, but I'll address the vibrations here. Given the softness of the toy, the vibrations aren't very strong at the tip of the inserted end but are very strong at the base. I wouldn't consider this a drawback though, as I don't think very much, if any, vibration is necessary on the prostate. You have to remember that even though it's often compared to a G-spot, it's really very different. The focus of the vibrations therefore reside on the balls and perineum which are much more responsive to vibration. I'd rank the 3 vibration strengths as 'strong', 'oh jeez too intense', and 'what in the world were they thinking?!'. Thus only the first vibration setting is really usable. In fact, having to cycle through the next two just to turn it off is somewhat annoying.

The vibrations aren't really louder than a typical small button-cell powered bullet, but the volume varies significantly based on factors such as whether you're pressing the bottom of the toy against yourself or another object like a chair seat.

Care and Maintenance

The Booster is just as easy to take care of as any other 100% silicone toy. Of course don't use a silicone-based lube with it though. I use it with Maximus lube, and can't imagine a more suitable lube. Since it's an anal toy, the added viscosity definitely helps. It can be washed with soap and water, rubbing alcohol, or a 10% bleach solution. I wouldn't try to put it in the dishwasher top rack without first removing the bullet somehow; but as I said above, I'm not sure how easy that is to do.

After patting with a bath towel to dry I rest it in the disposable plastic shell it came in inside the box. I don't bother trying to stuff it in the little provided pouch, which is a tight fit.

Packaging

The packaging is similar to other higher quality toys in this size range. The booster sits in a thin plastic 2-part clam shell, which fits inside its windowed cardboard box. Included is a brochure and instruction sheet. Each one is the size of a poster and has been folded 98 times down to the size of a stick of gum. Ok, not quite, but good luck trying to refold them. The Booster also includes a small storage pouch, but it's a tight fit and the insertable end of the toy would have to be bent to fit the toy inside the pouch. I store the toy just by sitting it in one half of the plastic clam shell, but the pouch would work for traveling. Speaking of which, why do people always talk about sex toys and ease of traveling? I mean are people really packing their bags for the Caribbean, then grabbing some sex toys and saying "oh, I absolutely can't live without these things while on a nice vacation for 2 weeks..."? Well, maybe this is the wrong crowd to ask such a question.

Experience

The Booster will likely have a bit of a learning curve if you aren't already accustomed to anal toys. The first time I tried it, I put a glob of Maximus lube on the tip and started gently pressing it against the opening of my ass. With an in-and-out motion, I could slide it in a bit deeper each time, until I got past the wide tip and it slid easily the rest of the way in. As it slid in I immediately felt it pressing gently on my prostate, just enough to create a nice soft pressure in that area. I realized that the flexible neck allowed it to easily fit my anatomy. The shape of the inserted end produces a gentle pressing sensation over the whole prostate area, not a localized one like intended in some other toys.

While masturbating, the toy makes the overall pleasure escalate faster. In one instance I kept bringing myself close, then backing off, and repeating, in order to make the session last for about 45 minutes before finally bringing myself over the edge. Another time I slipped it in, turned on the vibration, and just kept stroking non-stop to see how quickly I could cum - 3 minutes flat. That's saying something for a guy who normally spends about 30 minutes to an hour masturbating before finally finishing himself off. The actual orgasms aren't any better for me with the toy, as having something inserted in me becomes a distraction at the moment of orgasm. The pressure on my prostate does increase the volume of cum though, and I feel a bit more spent after finishing.

Thanks for the kind words guys! Selective Sensualist, I know others have mentioned problems with the original Rude Boy staying in since the inserted end doesn't taper. I know this one had no problems with retention.

You know, I totally thought this was another Rocks off toy...to be totally honest...I would rather have the original designs. And the name? Yeah...not something I would say aloud.
