A web of silk lies..
Overall I would say for the price it's worth it, but if you're looking for strong rope to keep your lover in place, you should look somewhere else. This rope is great for beginners, but may be a let-down for people who are big into bondage. If you play nice, this rope will last you a while, but if you play too rough like my hubby and I, it will last a short time.Published: December 12, 2011
Pros:
Length, soft, colors.
Cons:
Not silk, Taped up ends.
The Fetish Series Japanese Silk Rope is a great bondage rope for beginners. I was let down when I felt the rope for the first time; it's soft but NOT silk. It’s a good length for tying up your lover ,but it's not the strongest rope out there. Even though it's soft, this rope it can easily leave rope burn and red marks if you're not careful. The rope itself is comfortable against the skin and doesn't slip too easily against itself ,but it is one solid length. If you plan on cutting the rope, make sure you have a way to bond the ends to stop the fray. We used metal clips that you bend into place - it looks like the end of a shoe string when you're done. They were 15¢ each at Home Depot!
For a more advanced user, this rope won’t compare to good quality bondage ropes you may already have in your collection, but it's a great addition if you're looking for some lighter play.
This rope is not meant to be used for suspension. It's nowhere near strong enough and you could get injured if you attempt to do so.
The piece of rope is 35 feet long and roughly 1/4” in diameter. It's available in Black, Pink, Red and Purple.
Overall, the rope is petty good quality. I had one issue that bothered me a good deal: the ends of the rope are sealed with silver tape, and when I removed it from it's box the tape was peeling off, allowing little sharp pin type pieces of material to poke at you. A quick snip to clean up the ends and a little clear nail polish will fix that right up.
The maker claims that the rope is made of silk, but it does not seem to be silk to me. The rope is soft, but it’s not silky soft like I would assume silk rope to be.
In the end I do like this rope; it has it's flaws and takes some prep, but it does what it's meant to do. It doesn’t slip too much against itself and it has no problem keeping knots.
After a few rough nights with my hubby I have been left with rope burn and red marks on the areas we had the rope.
This rope shouldn’t need to be cleaned often if you're not covered in lube or food. If the rope gets dirty you can put in a lingerie bag and wash it in the washing machine on gentle and set to cold. I would be sure the ends are sealed well or you could end up with a frayed mess at the end of washing. Allow the rope to air dry for a few days in a warm place if you can.

THE BURN TEST TO SEE IF IT's REALLY SILK
What Should Happen:
The thread should simply ball up and turn to ash when lit. As soon as the flame is removed, the thread should do nothing more (no further burning).
What Should Not Happen:
The thread should not melt/bubble/drip when lit.
The thread should not continue to burn after the flame is removed.
My burn test ended with finding out this is NOT SILK! It's artificial silk. It melted and got all drippy and stayed burning into a slimy ball after I removed the flame. I'm very upset with this fact, it claimed to be silk rope but in the end it was all a lie.

"fetish fantasy series japanese silk rope" -- not silk
-
LazyNinjalink manufacturers page states that this rope is actually made out of cotton.
Talk about a misleading/lying branding system. Is Japanese Silk a trademark of theirs that they make out of chinese cotton?

'Silk' bondage rope listed under 'suspension kits'
-
Hey, Eden? I would like to respectfully suggest you remove this from the 'suspension kits' category. This type of rope is *not* safe for suspension. It's not real silk (Pipedream has confirmed it is actually a cotton/polyester blend), so can fray easily, stretch, and is just a poor idea if you don't want to risk dropping your submissive on their head.

I made sure to put in my review that the rope is not intended for suspension or partail suspension

what are they made of
-
This is a question that could easily be answered by reading the product page! If you just scan it really quickly you can see that hey, these silk ropes are made of rope! It also gives you a link explaining the care of the materials, which is this link! A lot of these questions are better left off of the forums! :)

A lot of these questions are better left off of the forums! :)Rope is typically made of hemp, linen, cotton or (as in this case) silk. To say that rope is made of rope is a bit redundant. :D

But yeah, materials are always listed on the product's page, billybobtoy. It'll always be to the left of the product's picture, and it'll link to some basic care instructions. Though if you need more in-depth information, don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you for viewing Fetish Fantasy Series Japanese silk rope – bondage toy review page!

oy! thanks for the warning
Thanks for the review
Great review
There's a burn test you can do to test if something is genuine silk or not. There are also youtube videos showing it in action. I'd love to see a follow up with this after you've done the test.
Thanks guys !!
I will do a burn test in a few days and let you know!
): I wish that products wouldn't advertise being something they aren't! Great review, and thankyou.
Thanks for the awesome review. It's a shame the rope wasn't real silk. It seemed so promising.
