An Average Flogger

Overall this is a decent flogger. It has nice suede falls, is an intermediate length, and comes with a wrist strap. There are some design flaws such as a handle that rubs slightly and an unbalanced handle. But it also comes with a low price for a flogger. Overall a nice moderate toy that would be good for exploring flogging or adding a warm up toy to your arsenal.

Use

The Leather whip by Zad is an intermediate length flogger. Typically floggers are seen within BDSM play. This flogger is made out suede meaning it is a more thuddy flogger. This makes it the best type for a beginner to start with. For a more advanced user this would be a good warm up flogger before you grab something more intense. (or you could continue with this flogger if you do not like pain that much)

If you are unfamiliar a flogger is an instrument used to flog a person. You take the flogger and you hit a person with it. Now I want to stress that a flogger can be a dangerous toy to play with. You can exert enough force to harm a person with floggers. Some people consider flogging to be an act of sex in of itself, others consider flogging to be a foreplay activity.

So if you are unfamiliar with floggers you might be asking yourself what does one actually do with a flogger. Now there are two main ways to use a flogger in my opinion. The main way to use one is to hit a person with it. You swing the falls at them and they make contact with the person and they cause a sensation. You can provide anywhere from a light and warm sensation to something more painful and intense. Typically flogging a person is associated with a rush of endorphins, a pleasant sensation, and a warm, erotic sensation. That is why people allow themselves to be flogged. The top or dominant person tends to enjoy flogging because they like giving their partner pleasure, or they like being in control and exerting dominance, or some other reason (I prefer to be flogged, so I do not pretend to understand the flogger's mindset as well as I understand the floggee's mindset).

The second way to use a flogger is to simply run it over a person's body. This is not you swinging it, but just running it across them. This provides erotic sensual pleasure too, but the main use of a flogger is to swing it and flog the other person.

So as I mentioned this is an intermediate length flogger. It is not a mini flogger, such as the Lelo ones, but it is also not a true full length scene flogger. It is a hybrid, which could be good if you have limited room, have a hard time wielding a full flogger, or just want something a bit different.

In terms of the craftsmanship the flogger looks pretty decent overall. It has a wooden handle by the looks of it that is wrapped in leather. All of this seems to be well enough made. The only issue is the handle is quite heavy. I think the aesthetics were the primary focus of this flogger. So swinging it is a bit awkward. It would be fine for a short session, but anything over 15 minutes might start to tire your arm out. Because of this I would say this is for people who want short sessions.

The suede is quite soft. I have seen better, but you get good quality materials for the price. It smells like leather, it feels like leather, and if I tasted it I am sure it would taste like leather.

The flogger is a suede flogger. Suede is the inside of a piece of leather, it is softer, but also more prone to damage and not quite as durable. Suede is my favorite and many people's favorite material for a flogger.

The flogger has a wrist strap. It also has a corset on it pretty much. I found this to be slightly uncomfortable, it rubs just a little bit. Again it looks nice and really does not pose a large problem, but it does make this flogger best suited for shorted lengths of time.

Performance

This flogger performed decently. As I just mentioned the handle is a bit heavy. The flogger is not perfectly weighted, so this causes a bit more strain on your wrist. But overall it worked well.

It feels nice to be flogged with. The suede is nice. There are a good number of falls. It provides a nice thuddy and warm sensation that I adore from floggers. Overall it provides a good average performance. I have more expensive and better weighted floggers, but you get what you pay for. And in this flogger you pay a reasonable price and get a well rounded flogger.

There are not really any unexpected applications for this toy. You can flog someone, you can run it over their body, you can drape it over their eyes, you can let them soak up that sweet leather scent, you can poke them with the handle. There is nothing unique about this flogger compared to any others really.

Overall a nice flogger that creates fun kinky times. There are just a few small details that make it not the best choice for a really long roleplay/scene.

In terms of leaving marks it is unlikely this one will. It is suede which is very soft and very thuddy. If you swung really hard and with a lot of force you could leave marks, but for average play this will leave some redness that will likely pass within a few hours.

Care and Maintenance

Floggers do take some care to them. It is hard to encapsulate all of it in a review. But here are the basics.

Most floggers are never cleaned. This is because washing a certain area on the falls will cause it to change its shape and this can throw off the entire flogger. They are mostly just left alone. If you do have to clean an area because it got bodily fluids on it use some soapy water and just dab at it a bit until you clean up most of the fluid. Getting suede wet kind of wrecks it so there are special cleaners for it. Again there is always the balance of keeping the flogger clean and not trying to wreck the integrity of the flogger. Air will actually kill most bacteria after long enough. If you were to hang it up for a week it is pretty safe to say there are no more bacteria on the flogger, but you can never be 100% sure. Sunlight will kill bacteria faster, but it will dry out the leather and cause the colors to fade, so I would not recommend it.

It is best to hang a flogger up to keep the falls in their original condition and not to get any folds, bends, or kinks in them. If you cannot hang it try to store it flat (so not bending any of the falls) to keep it in the best condition. You will want to store it in a cool dry place. You do not want any mildew growing on the leather.

Packaging

This flogger comes in a box. On the outside is a provocative image. Definitely not discreet. There is some writing on the box that tells you a little about it, but nothing overly informative. In my opinion the box is a bit cheesy and it would be better to re-wrap this before sending it as a present. There is also a small instruction booklet that tells you a little bit about how to care for your flogger.

You should not store the flogger in the package it comes in. It should be hung from the handle strap.
