Silk sashay blindfold - headgear by Leatherbeaten - review by seaofneptune

During one of my recent orders, I chose to purchase this beautiful blindfold because I had been eying it for sometime. My partner and I were hoping to get our hands on the black/gold colored sashay blindfold but it had been out of stock for sometime so I ended up getting impatient and going with the red/black one. I really love this blindfold; it’s made completely out of silk brocade with gorgeous red Asian designs on it featuring dragons. The blindfold section is similar to the sleep eye masks that women wear to bed and it has sashes attached to both sides that are about 20 inches long. The sashes are made up of the same silk brocade and have an unfinished side on the back, despite being unfinished they still look great. The underside of the eye mask is made of soft black synthetic fleece and the edges are finished with smooth black fabric.

The silk sashay blindfold is perfect for beginners because it’s soft, comfortable, and easy to use. The blindfold ties by the sashes on the back of the head, which to me makes it easy to put on and remove if needed. The blindfold could work for advanced users as well, but if you are into hard bondage, then this won’t be for you. The blindfold could be way too comfortable for some if they are looking for products that may cause more discomfort. I’ve never tried on a hard blindfold before so I can’t compare them. I feel that the design of the blindfold works well; it’s beautiful and fits comfortably on both my and my partner’s faces. I did notice though that it does not block out all light completely, so you may want to keep your eyes closed when wearing it. I tend to keep my eyes closed when blindfolded, but I did open them to check and I could see some light. You may want to make sure that the blindfold is secure before lying down because if not, lying down on top of the sashes may cause the blindfold to loosen and not block out as much light or imagery. If you can see what is going on, that kind of defeats the purpose and ruins the fun – right?

The blindfold is very well made, the stitching and craftsmanship looks great – and it seems to hold together very well. My partner and I have never been rough with the blindfold but I could see it holding up very well in most situations. The feel of the material is smooth and silky, while the fleece is soft and plush. It fits great and I feel that it will fit everyone well because of the common blindfold size. It worked great for me and met all of my expectations, it doesn’t keep all light out but I am not too overly picky about that – like I said I generally keep my eyes closed when blindfolded. It does slip if you don’t tie it snug enough – but don’t overdo it because I doubt that you would want to strangle your poor partner’s head or anything.

The blindfold comes in plastic packaging, which I still keep mine in for storage and it helps keep all elements off of your pretty blindfold. As far as care goes, the blindfold didn’t come with much information at all and did not include any care information what so ever. Due to the material that it is made of, I would suggest that you should hand wash it in slightly warm water (not hot) with mild detergent or soap flakes. I would lay this flat to dry so it does not take on any other shape or wrinkle in any way. If you are one of those that absolutely must put things in the washer – then I would suggest that you do not wash this with anything else, use the extra small setting on your washer, cold water only and put it on the delicate cycle. Do not put this in the dryer, it will ruin the silk – silk and high temperatures do not mix (so you probably wouldn’t want to iron it either).

As far as my experience goes, it worked out great and performed the way I was hoping. My partner and I use this strictly for sensory deprivation and it gave us both the feel that we both were hoping for. I used it on my partner first so I could tease him with ticklers and the new Tenga products that I received. It also worked out great when we used a massage candle as well, because it heightened our other senses to the temperature of the wax.
