Bind Smoothly
I'd say it's worth buying if you're interested. It's cheap, easy, fun, and it does the job fairly well! It is definitely something that's safe for beginners.Published: February 19, 2011
Pros:
Doesn't stick to hair or skin, easy for beginners.
Cons:
Rewrapping it is a hassle.
I have an undying love for PVC tape. I'll say it time and time again; I love it. I'd used it with partners who owned it themselves but only used it sparingly and found myself intrigued by it every time. I finally went ahead and bought it myself, and I'm glad I did.
For one thing, it's not expensive (particularly in comparison to most bondage equipment) and does the job nicely. I find it perfectly comfortable as it doesn't stick to your skin or hair, and it wraps easily while managing to hold fairly strongly. It's definitely something that beginners can use easily, and you can cut it to whatever length you need. It sticks to itself so even trying to adhere it after cutting would work. I use the black tape though it comes in a variety of colors depending on where you buy it from, and it's very slightly translucent with no noticeable smell. The tape is soft since it has no unexpected sharp points which is good because you don't risk cuts in places you may not want them. It doesn't conform to curves, so if wrapping something completely you have to overlap the tape which is easy after some practice. You can use it to bind someone's limbs, as a covering for the mouth or eyes (or so I hear), or even DIY a latex top or dress out of it. It's reusable, too!
One of my only complaints would be that, though it's reusable, it's a hassle to re-wrap and very time consuming if you bother to re-wrap it in even a semi-presentable fashion. It easily tangles since it sticks to itself, so it can be a pain in the ass at times. All in all, I'd suggest it for the cheap-minded or beginners to bondage. It's something that wouldn't scare a partner away with if you pulled it out early on!

Bondage Beginners

For beginners, would you recommend tape or some type of rope? How difficult is it to break free?
-
Quote: For beginners, would you recommend tape or some type of rope? How difficult is it to break free?I do not recommend rope for beginners. Two reasons. ONE: There is an art to finding "the right rope" since you are basically adapting an industrial use tool (rope) to sensitive, nude humans. Abrasions, allergic reactions, etc are the very least of your concerns. Which leads us to TWO: Rope Bondage requires skill. Not just to make pretty knots. It requires an awareness of anatomy so you know what parts of the body you are restricting blood flow from and what muscles/bones/ligament s are at risk when you force someone into an "unnatural" position or redistribute their weight. I know people who have long term injuries from inexperienced tops. Chronic pain, etc. What do you know about the circulatory system in general and this bottom's specifically? Buy some books, take a class. Buy Jay Wiseman's bondage for beginners videos. You wouldn't fly a plane without a lesson. Don't fly a lover with less care.
Tape obviously has less of the above issues because it adheres and therefore doesn't have to be overly tight to be restrictive. It moves with the person and is more likely to remove body hair than abraid or "cut" the victim. But beware of latex allergies and similar to saran wrap mummification, you still have to watch for circulation (and in the case of mummification or excessive taping --overheating) and the dangers from being stuck in one position (does your bottom have diabetes, hypoglycemia, problems that might cause clotting?) Longer bondage requires you to reposition the bottom. Check the extremities constantly. Fingers, toes, etc. Are they cold? Discolored? No one bound should ever be left unattended. NOT EVER. If you like the tie them up and walk out mind fuck, then put them in a blindfold and tell them you're going shopping, slam the door and sit down and read a book. But check on them frequently. Keep him/her in your line of sight. -
Quote: For beginners, would you recommend tape or some type of rope? How difficult is it to break free?As to the second part of the question: People tend to wriggle free rather than break free. So the difficulty depends on the flexibility and persistence of the submissive as well as the tension/strength of the bondage material. Tighter bonds do give less room for manipulative fingers but at the cost of shorter play time. I think it's fun to let them try and when they are close to escape, out comes the duct tape and reapply. Or actually let them "break free" enough to get good blood flow and mobility going and then retape them in a new position. Leather cuffs are the easiest to escape and are more for weight and psychological bondage than effective restraint. For safe effective bondage consider hospital restraints or straightjackets.

How long will a roll last?
-
The tape is actually reusable provided that you cut a length that you intend to reuse. It will get dirty after a while so we typically get through a couple of uses before throwing it away. It can also be a bit of a hassle to re-roll up. So, if you don't want to, I suppose it'll last at least a half a dozen sessions if you only wrap hands and feet. How many times you wrap around for tightness will also eat up part of the roll faster.

Quote: How long will a roll last?If you reuse it, it has the potential to last forever. I've been blatantly abusing a strip or two so I can write a really accurate review of it after a few more serious tests. x'D
And it's so darn shiny...I keep staring at it just because I love the look of it. ^_^

Bondage Tape

This is my favorite bedroom toy! It lasts forever and can be made into almost anything - restraints, a c-sheath, even a decorative outfit.
I'm not too sure on the claims it can be reused...it *can* be, but the work to untangle and then wash it isn't really worth it in my opinion...it's a really inexpensive toy so I just get another roll.
Word to the wise, it's always a safe move to keep blunt-edge safety scissors nearby when doing any sort of erotic wrapping...it allows for an easy exit if your wrapp-ee needs a bathroom break or gets uncomfortable. :) -

Less work, and way more fun! And I second the need for scissors near the bed, as when you first unroll the tape it can be ripped but once you start moving around a bit, the tape become folded in on itself some, and makes it impossible to rip!

I'm totally with you on this...it's an amazing product, even for those more experienced in bondage and fetish because its so affordable and easy to use. I tried reusing it ONCE though and it was a tangled, stuck-to-itself mess!
