Fetish Fantasy Elite 20' bondage rope - restraints by Pipedream - review by Entropy

I don't consider myself a beginner to bondage, but most of what we've used prior to this toy where leather and steel restraints. For someone just starting to try bondage, this toy may not be ideal, as it requires more work, planning, and time than a device that simply snaps, clicks, or buckles. If you're ready to try some tying, this rope is a fun way to start.

The silicone fiber is stretchier than natural rope, which lends itself well to creative bondage techniques. It is also more dense and fairly narrow. So for safety reasons, you should check the skin under this restraint every 15-30 minutes to ensure that circulation is adequate and that underlying tissues aren't being damaged.

The rope has no smell or taste, and feels very pliable and slick in the hand.

The silicone used to make this toy is solid. During a flame test, the end of the rope got red hot, and even started to emit a little smoke, but when the flame was removed there was no melting or visible burn spot present.





The only evidence of the test was a light oxidative coating that was easily removed with wiping.

We've stretched the rope a great degree, and it springs back to its original shape without pause.

I feel this toy will last us for many years to come. Pun intended.

Mask:

I think that it's a cool idea to include the mask, and it's the first silicone blindfold that I've owned, but unfortunately It's just too small for my head. The silicone is thick and seems very resilient, but the plastic clasps in the back seem flimsy. My girlfriend didn't want to try it out, as she stated that it would be so tight as to get tangled in her hair. It feels like a large, wide rubber band when worn around the eyes. It also has an affinity for lint and hair like the rope it is packaged with. I feel that this mask won't get much use with us.

Lubricant:

The included lube is by Moist and it is water-based. This was my first Moist product. It's a simple, decent lube and it performed okay with silicone anal toys and during masturbation. It's on the thin side, and somewhat watery. It doesn't get foamy like some water lubes do, but it requires more frequent reapplication than I'd like. It felt nice on the skin and it was comfortable to use, but it didn't "wow" me either. Based on my experience with it, I probably wouldn't buy this lubricant by itself. Moist lube contains glycerin, as well as herbal extracts that could cause reactions in some people.

Ingredients: Aloe vera, Nettle extract, rosemary extract, balm mint extract, ginseng extract, water, glycerin, hydroxyethyl, ethylcellulose, diazolidinyl urea, carbopol, sodium benzoate, methylparaben, PEG 6-32, triethanolamine, nonylphenol, citric acid.

Toy Cleaner:

I generally judge a toy cleaner on the strength of the antimicrobial agent, and how harsh it is on my toys. I can't find what I would consider a strong antibacterial agent listed on the ingredients for this cleaner. There are detergents, cosmetic additives, surfactants, and even an antifungal, but no antibacterial. It will remove bacteria mechanically much like soap does, but it doesn't do much to actually kill any bacteria present. On the upside, it is gentle on toys and I've had no damage to any silicone, glass, steel, and TPR toy that I've used it on. Many ingredients in this cleaner can damage the skin or eyes, so be sure to take appropriate measures.

The rope:

On to the main course. I love this rope. It feels sexy on the skin, is very easy to manipulate and tie, and has this fantastic stretchy quality to it. It's fairly long, so it is easier to wrap your submissive if you gather it in a bundle while wrapping around their body. The rope has a tendency to pull skin and hair, but I've never found the sensation to be too painful.

This is a versatile toy. My partner wrapped me in it, tied me up with it, whipped me with it, choked me with it, and used this as a CBT device. It can be easily cut and won't fray like rope. This means it can be fashioned into gags, chokers, short ankle and wrist cuffs, a whip, a carpet beater, and my personal favorite, a penis leash. Unlike some restraints, this is a great BDSM toy for use in the shower.


The rope worked very well for us. There are definitely a lot of uses for this toy that are limited only by your desire and imagination. The Fetish Fantasy bondage rope has really opened our eyes to the world of tying.

This thing will pick up any lint or hair that it touches, but fortunately the Fetish Fantasy Elite bondage rope is very easy to care for. We simply bundle it up in a coil and run it under warm water when needed. If it's really dirty then liquid antibacterial soap works well, and of course Pipedream includes a trial sized bottle of cleaner that works good on this type of toy. Being made of pure silicone, it can also be sprayed with a solution of 1:10 bleach and water, or boiled for three to five minutes to sterilize it.

I tried storing the rope in a cloth backpack, but it picked up so much lint and loose fibers that I quickly abandoned that practice. I now either store it in the original box that it came in, or put it in an Eden Fantasys brand shopping tote that I own. Both of these methods keep debris to a minimum. Tangling is an issue as the silicone will tend to cling to itself. This is minimized by coiling the rope neatly prior to storage.

The Fetish Fantasy Elite 20' bondage rope came packaged in a fairly thick cardboard box. The toy cleaner and lubricant were packaged in a separate plastic bag, which I greatly appreciate in the event of shipping mishaps. The packaging could never be accused of being discreet, as the words "fetish" and "bondage" are in large print, as well as pictures of the included items.

I didn't have very high expectations for such a simple and inexpensive toy, but I was pleasantly surprised. We've really enjoyed it, and it's so easy to be creative and design your own tying style with it. The kit is a good value, considering the versatility of the rope, and the included mask, cleaner, and lubricant.

As I mentioned, my girlfriend and I don't have a lot of experience in toys that involve tying knots. We opened the package together when it arrived, and took a few minutes to get familiar with the texture and feel of the rope. She had me strip, stand on my knees, and went to work.
