Choker... of DOOM!

A collar that is both submissive and tough. The Center Spike His Pulse Collar has a comfortable suede interior, six sharp spikes, and a loop for leash attachment. This is a pretty nice collar to add to the collection.
Published: June 1, 2009
Pros:
Durable, leash compatible, spikes!
Cons:
Buckle's stubborn, not large enough for thicker necks.

useful review
Of all of the bondage gear I've been acquiring, the only thing missing was a collar!? This had to be fixed because my boyfriend is coming soon, and I wanted to give him a special surprise when I pick him up at the airport. There are many very nice collars out there, but with the role-play we do, a white collar seemed to fit his more “innocent” character. The spikes on it seemed like a nice idea because once in a while he likes to be a much more aggressive person, so I felt they had a good representation.

The Center Spike His Pulse Collar by Ruff Doggie Styles. It is a leather collar with black suede on the inside for comfort. The white coating on the front feels very smooth, but I do believe after a good amount of wear and tear, the white will fade and crack. There are 6 spikes on the collar, all clustered fairly close to the ring that is provided for a leash. The ring is on a rotating holder that is only attached to the metal strip that the spikes are holding onto. The spikes are removable, they are screwed on, and the screws go through both the suede and the leather. A flat head screw driver would be able to remove the screws.

The overall length of the collar is 17”, however the range of usable size goes from as small as 11.5” to as large as 15”. I have a rather large neck, so I had to punch some extra holes into the strap to be able to fasten it. This collar was too tight for me to wear comfortably, but that is fine because it is for my partner and he has a smaller neck.

The buckle itself is a little odd. The part that goes through the holes in the strap is very sharp like a nail. Opening the buckle part is a little stubborn as well. The part that goes through the hole only opens up about .5” unless you really pull it open. Afterward though, you do have to push with more force to get it to close completely.

As for cleaning, if any mess should get on the collar, wiping it with a damp wash cloth and mild soap should be fine. Because it is leather, the collar should not be soaked in water. This can damage the leather and the suede.
Experience
I've always entertained the thought of having someone put a collar around my neck, but with the partner I have now, I've gained the urge to do the same to him. Not as a master/slave relationship, but more towards another sign of compassion. Since he'll be here at the end of June, I felt I should start preparing. I will soon be purchasing a silver name-tag to put on the collar. I plan to take it with me to the airport and when he gets in the car, tell him to close his eyes and that is when I will fasten the collar to his neck. A follow-up of how this event goes as well as the collars use in our play will follow in July.

I imagine it would be better for those with a more leaner neack then, do you think it would be good for women?

Can't wait to read the follow up!

Despite the collar's name, I do imagine it'd be better for a woman and actually for those skinny boys out there :3

Do the spikes get in the way of attaching a leash at all? Or could the wearer accidentally stab him/herself on it? I'm a short person with a short neck and if I were to ever wear a collar, I think it'd have to be one of those thinner, dinkier looking ones. LOL

@ Adriana, The spikes though sharp, aren't really long. you, the wearer, wouldn't have to worry about stabbing yourself, just the person you're with if they try to get too close ;3 as for the leash bit, they don't really get in the way, the ring allows fore easy attachment in the middle of the rings without it being stuck or anything.

i worried about the spikes on this collar because of how close they are to the o-ring. its good to know that it doesnt get in the way of a leash.

Great review, I can really relate to the part about collars being a mean to show compassion (and, for me, affection! love!)
