Use

The Liberator Ramp/Wedge Conversion Kit changes a standard ramp and wedge combo into what Liberator calls it Black Label products. This permits the user to engage in bondage by way of straps, clips and restraints for the hands and feet. The Conversion Kit is a set of replacement microfiber covers that go over the user's standard ramp and pillow, together with some straps, restraints, and a blindfold. The new covers have hard plastic buckles sewn into the corners, (six in the Ramp cover, two in the Wedge cover). Once installed and zipped up onto the pillows, the users can now clip the included wrist and ankle cuffs to the pillows as desired so that the bound person is deliciously positioned just right for the unrestrained partner to administer some tantalizing, agonizing playtime pleasure. The wrist and ankle cuffs are soft and comfortable. The cuffs close with Velcro, so it is easy to both adjust them for the desired tightness, as well as to get out of them if the need arises without cuts, bruises or abrasions developing. The Black Label Conversion Kit also comes with 2 extenders and 2 tender tethers, so that you have even more restraint possibilities, as well as a blindfold to put the restrained person into blindness if desired. The Kit is an ideal way to further extend your use of the two foundations for Liberator's pillow line, the ramp and the wedge.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material

Liberator makes very high quality products. While they are not cheap, they last and they work well. This conversion kit is no exception. The microfiber material is soft. Like the other microfiber materials Liberator puts on their pillows, the fiber is comfortable to play on, but it also has another advantage; once two pieces of Liberator material are positioned as you want, they hold together so that the pillows do not slide or move away from each other. Re-positioning is easy, just a simple pick up and move/adjust as desired. The pillows themselves are firm foam which is covered by a waterproof material. The conversion kit covers slide right over this, and then you zip it up around the pillow. The conversion kit covers are designed to keep fluids from going into the foam. They are machine washable so when a bit of playtime stain appears, it is a simple matter of unzipping the cover, throwing it into the washer with clothes and then putting it back on after cleaning. We have had ours for almost two years now, and have washed them repeatedly. They have maintained their color as well as their shape very well. We have not noticed any deterioration of the seams, zippers or other areas on the covers.

Performance

We loved our ramp/wedge combo when we got it. We decided that it would add even more fun to get the conversion kit. When we got it, we did not bother taking off the original cover, but simply put the Black Label conversion covers on over the original cover. It works fine. One quick note on the material however. Right out of the bag, the material tends to have a little bit of flacking off. A quick run through the washer before the first use is recommended. We have found that the material have developed a very pleasant softness after a few washes that has remained constant.
Now to the good stuff. Once we installed the kit, it was playtime, and what delicious playtime it was. We took turns being restrained. The excellent design of both the pillows themselves combined with the ability to quickly change the placement of the hand and foot cuffs made playtime a delight. Standard missionary became very kinky when my wife was oh so erotically elevated up on the edge of the pillow and her hands were strapped beside her head. Mmmmm, delicious. Likewise, doggy style became an kinky variation when we turned her over and her wonders were elevated to me while her legs were spread for me to dive in and drive her crazy.
    • Aids in positioning
    • Comfortable during use

Packaging

The conversion kit comes in a plain brown box. Liberator provides a nice little booklet that describes how to put it together along with some erotic but fairly tasteful photos showing you some starting possibilities. The box itself is good quality cardboard which you can use for storing other things if you desire. The packaging is discreet. The conversion kit itself is easy to travel with, it is the cushions that might make travel less than discreet.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage
    • Recyclable

Care and Maintenance

As previously mentioned, the covers that make up the conversion kit, just like the original microfiber covers, are machine washable. We have never needed to wash the cuffs or straps. If a little stain got on one of those we would probably just rinse it with warm soap and water in the sink and then let it dry. We just leave our Black Label Conversion Kit on the pillows most of the time, and put them underneath our bed. We can then just lean over and pull them out when we want to play. In fact, with the conversion kit on the pillows, its easier to pull them out as you have something to grab onto and pull. You can also easily slide the conversion covers off if you want to leave your pillows out without having some one raise an eyebrow at the obvious use of the clips on the corners of the covers.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Personal comments

While we certainly do not use our conversion kit all of the time to have bondage play, it is always available when one of us is in the mood. We believe that anything that makes an already great product like Liberator's pillows more useable in more ways is a great thing. We highly recommend the kit to expand the variety of possibilities that the user's ramp/wedge combo provides.

Experience

The sky is the limit with these conversion kit options. Perhaps you or your lover wants hands restrained beside their head. Alternatively, perhaps you want the hands secured by the side. (This is especially fun in doggy style positions). Another possibility is to restrain the feet using the extenders in a kind of hog-tie position. The wonderful thing is that all of these are possible with one product, and you can change in just a few seconds.
Follow-up commentary
We still love the conversion kit. We just used it again last weekend while we were playing a fun board game that required us to occasionally blindfold or tie each other up. The conversion covers came in very handy!

Thank you for a very well written review. Having recently purchased a wedge/ramp combo, we've already been interested in this conversation kit. It's good to hear that the covers will last for a long time even after repeated washings.

  • wear it out?
    • do these ever flatten out with larger people? and do the covers come off for easy clean up? :)
    • Liberator covers do zip on and off of the pillow itself. It's memory foam which shouldn't squish, IIRC.

  • is there a way to use different cuffs with the black label conversion kit?
    • i have sweet-ass leather/metal loop cuffs that i love. and i really don't like the cuffs that come with the BL convers kit. Is there any way i can use my own, or has anyone modded theirs to be able to do this?

i'm even considering a mod to the original wedge/ramp combo, if one can't be made to the BL kit.

      ideas?

Hm, now I have the Black Lable Esse which is the same principle, I think. The buckle cuffs really work well, BUT, they sell those little things that buckle in and have D-rings on them on the Liberator site. I have those, but I also LOVE the ease of the Deluxe Cuff Kit (and the blindfold is amazing; never even used a blindfold before..).

But yeah, even without the little buckle-down D-ring things, I just tie tethers through the loops where the buckles connect to the Liberator shape, and go from there.

Does that make sense? Sorry, I explained it funny.
