Cuffed, but Not Chuffed

If you want something that's form over function, these rubber cuffs are a gorgeous addition to your toy box -- the chocolate brown and minty blue design is yummy, and the cuffs are a soft rubber. However, the large size and lack of adjustment means that these cuffs won't be functional for most people -- they're just for looks.

Totally cute, rubber feels nice.

Use

These are cute little restraints, pretty enough to be worn out and about, while strong enough for the bedroom. Although they have some issues (noted later), they would make the transition from public play to private play quite nicely, and would be a great way for couples to share their love of bondage out in public without being overly obvious about it.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

Overall, the design and fit were huge disappointments for me. The cuffs are cute, sure, with the chocolate and blue design, and the nice stretchy rubber. But beyond that, there are serious design flaws in this product.

Right off the bat, these latex cuffs are HUGE on my wrists -- like they fall right off if I tilt my hand downward -- and there is no way to make them any smaller without punching additional holes in the latex, which would look odd and make the ends stick out funny (unless you went farther and cut the ends off as well).

There are two holes in each cuff end, designed to be used to close the cuff. But the cuffs only come with two "cuff links" total (and the cuff links are, sorry to say, cheesy, with the word FUN printed on them... ugh), and that means that you're left with two empty holes. Although, I think the purpose MIGHT be to link the end of the chain through those leftover holes, there aren't any instructions, and it's hard to get the chain clasp through the holes, so I'm not sure this is the way it's planned. The manufacturer's images have the chains clipped to the 'cufflinks', but that leaves one side totally open and flapping...

Performance

These would have worked really well IF they were adjustable. As it was, they didn't stay on, so there was no chance of really trying them out in a bondage-type situation. If you have big wrists (or if you wanted to try them on your ankles), they would probably work really well for light bondage. One thing to note: They do stretch and they are rubber, so they catch the skin a bit of you start yanking them around. This could be a good or bad thing, depending on the type of pain you're into.

Care and Maintenance

These are the easiest cuffs I've ever owned in terms of care. Because they are rubber, you can wash them easily with soap and water. The chain is made of aluminum, which is really prone to wear and tear, so if you need to wash that (soap and water, or water and vinegar works fine), you'll want to do so carefully and to make sure it's well dried.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The packaging was really simple and mostly recyclable (yah!).

Follow-up commentary
Still nothing to write home about. The cuffs are SO cute, but that's their only real attribute. Too big for anything but very large wrists, don't close well or at all, the chain is kind of cheap and ugly. I kept them because I WANT to like them, but in reality, they aren't very useful at all.

Just wanted to add: I accidentally wrote 'latex' instead of 'rubber' in the review. These are rubber -- and although they say that they're latex-free, some of the literature mentions that they do have some latex. So just beware!

Cute. I love toys that can double as fashion accessories. I love cuffs that one can wear as bracelets. (I sometimes wear a pretty cute hand cuff key on a silver chain. When people ask me what it's a key to, I say, "It's the key to My Man's heart!" Once in a while someone will wink at me and know exactly what that little key is for.

Too bad these are so large. I know they wouldn't fit me. I wear Sports Cuffs on the smallest setting.

Thanks for taking one for the team, Shanna!

These are pretty cute - it's too bad they aren't more adjustable

Yeah, they really are cute. But they lack a lot in real-world usage

They are cute but if they don't adjust, what's the point? Thanks for the review!

I'm thinking my wrists would not fit well enough to provide any restraint. Thanks for the honest and detailed review!

So sad. Maybe wear these around your upper-arm for style? Otherwise, thanks for this review, probably won't buy these.

Thanks for the honest review. Disappointed to learn that these probably wouldn't work for me, since they are really pretty, but oh well.
