Cutsy Convenient Cuffs

The Tattoo Wrist Cuffs is an affordable set of restraints, but even if it functions well, it is not particularly comfortable if you move or struggle a lot. It's all right if you are just starting out with bondage and do not want to spend a lot of money to begin with, but it will also help you figure out what you will want from your second set of cuffs.

Use

The Tattoo wrist cuffs, as their name says, are used for bondage purposes.

They work with a large section of Velcro that goes all around the wrist and oriented so that it is easy to put them on and remove them on your own. So it is impossible to find yourself in a situation where you can't get out, which most likely will be appreciated by people who are starting to play with bondage or have not yet developed a strong level of trust with the bonding partner.

It has some design flaws that does not make them good for heavy bondage or if you think a lot of struggle will occur, because the Velcro can be irritating, and here again will most likely be preferred for light play. The pink dragon print and nylon fasteners also give it a nice spot of color that is not too threatening.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The cuffs are very simply made. There is a large section of neopropene roughly 8" long, and there is a large section of Velcro that is stitched onto it. The Velcro has a width of 2" and is about 10" long. The pink nylon loops holding the clasps are stitched on the Velcro, between the neopropene and the Velcro, and seem to be fixed very firmly. The loops and clasps are nickel-free, and the universal clasps are removable if you desire to use it for something else, like a set of silk bondage restraints. The neopropene slabs are cut and the nylon at the edges is only glued on the foamy material, and from memory, I know that the nylon will eventually curl away from the neopropene. It's not something major since there are stitches not far from the edges, but this is how you should expect the cuffs to show wear.

The ideal fit for the Tattoo Wrist Cuffs is for a wrist size of about 6-6 1/2", so that the tips of the neopropene are flush with each other. The package says that it can be adjusted up to 10", but it's the complete length of the cuffs, and as such, the two parts of the Velcro are barely in contact with each other. So, for restraint purposes, it rather goes up to 9 1/2" in order to have a sufficient grip with the Velcro (1/2" contact). When adjusted at the largest size range, the tips of the neopropene bands are far from each other and are connected only by the section of the rough Velcro. And for the lower limit of the size range, it will fit any small wrist, but there will be a superfluous section of neopropene sticking out (the shape is similar to a 6).

Performance

These cuffs are surprisingly sturdy, and I didn't expect them to withstand a lot of force. I consider myself stronger than average and when I would pull on the cuffs, all I could manage was to make the Velcro work sideways slightly. So it will make some noise, but any struggling will not get you free. You will only get some scratches from the Velcro.

The cuffs are also not very discreet with the noise they make. The Velcro is very large and removing them is quite noisy and you will hear it from the next room. The clasp also produce a slight metallic sound since it is moving freely on the loops, but it's very minor compared to that of the Velcro.

And when it comes to the chafing, it's the two right-angle edges of the Velcro that can irritate the skin depending on the adjustment. If you don't move much, your contact with the Velcro will be minimal, but if you twist your arms even a few times for a second or two, you will have a few scratch marks.

Care and Maintenance

Neopropene covered in nylon, of different thicknesses, is the material used to make wet suits. The band actually feels exactly like a wet suit and was the first thing I could compare it to as I touched it. My second thought was that it would feel really soft against the skin, but that was before I realized that the skin would only be in contact with the Velcro, except for the very edges of the cuffs.

So this can be washed by making it soak in soapy water, rinse and then hang to dry. You can use the original package for storing purposes. But I do not suggest the cuffs be left without any type of protection from hair and dust because the Velcro will easily pick those up and get dirty.

Packaging

The Inked Tattoo Wrist Cuffs come in a non discreet waxed paperboard box; there is a blond woman that is visibly bound by the cuffs in the front and back of the box.

They come wrapped in plastic inside the box and are attached to one another by the Velcro section, not with the clasp. There is no instruction inside the box, and it didn't take long to figure out in what position the cuffs had to be attached so that the metal loops and clasp would be placed closest to my hands. Once the initial setup is complete, it's quite easy to put them on again in the right orientation.

Follow-up commentary
The reason why I'm not so fond of this set is that I can't get over the rashes I got from it. I'm sorry to be a wimp; but, when I'm bound, it's not to associate it with discomfort or pain. The next set of cuffs I got appear to be lined with something akin to velvet.

Still, those cuffs were strong and were getting the job done. And I realize that at that price, I should not be complaining too much.
