To unlock them, you set the switch on the wrist cuffs back to the other position, and use the key too to unlock them, or the emergency switch on the side. Then you unlock the ankle cuffs with the key, turning it one way first, then the other way to unlock the knob on the side.

This locking system ensures you that what you lock once stays locked until you wish to unlock it!
