Fluffy Paradise

If you are looking for a great first flogger this is one of the best in my opinion. It is not overly expensive and yet high quality, beginner friend, and nice, soft, thuddy materials. It provides a great variety of sensations and is just overall a great well made flogger.

Use

The fluffy flogger by Ruff Doggies Styles is a floggers. Floggers are a toy typically used within the BDSM community, but that does not mean others will not enjoy using them. A flogger has three main parts a handle, the falls (these are the strands of materials coming from the handle) and points (these are the ends of falls, often times they are not actually pointy, but are still called points). Each of these three parts has certain characteristics that are desired and I will explain them in more detail in a the design section.

A flogger is an instrument used to flog a person. You take the flogger and you hit a person with it. Now I want to stress that a flogger can be a dangerous toy to play with. You can exert enough force to harm a person with floggers. I do think this toy is suitable for beginners and advanced users alike, but I think you need to read up on floggers a little bit before you use one, because they can be a dangerous toy.

So if you are unfamiliar with floggers you might be asking yourself what does one actually do with a flogger. Now there are two main ways to use a flogger in my opinion. The main way to use one is to hit a person with it. You swing the falls at them and they make contact with the person and they cause a sensation. You can provide anywhere from a light and warm sensation to something more painful and intense. Typically flogging a person is associated with a rush of endorphins, a pleasant sensation, and a warm, erotic sensation. That is why people allow themselves to be flogged. The top or dominant person tends to enjoy flogging because they like giving their partner pleasure, or they like being in control and exerting dominance, or some other reason (I prefer to be flogged, so I do not pretend to understand the flogger's mindset as well as I understand the floggee's mindset).
The second way to use a flogger is to simply run it over a person's body. This is not you swinging it, but just running it across them. This provides erotic sensual pleasure too, but the main use of a flogger is to swing it and flog the other person.

So as I mentioned earlier a flogger can be broken down into different parts. I am going to start with the handle. Ideally a flogger handle should be comfortable and properly weighted with regard to the falls. Flogging sessions can last quite a long time (5-60 minutes is probably a relatively average range, but longer is possible to). So if you are going to swinging a flogger for a long time you want it to be comfortable or else you are not going to have fun. Overall I would say the handle of this flogger is quite comfortable. I have heard no complaints from my girlfriend when she used this on me, and I have swung it a couple of times and found it comfortable as well. The leather could be a bit more comfortable, it is not the most luxurious flogger I have held, but overall it is quite nice, especially considering the price. In an ideal flogger the handle would be balanced with the falls. They would have an equal weight. What this does it makes it easier to swing. It makes it feel like an extension of your arm and makes it easier to swing and take less effort to swing. This is often done using lead shot, or something else heavy. This flogger does not have a balanced handle, but I do not mind. It is pretty close to being balanced. And what you have to realize with floggers is that you pay for what you get. High end floggers cost hundreds of dollars, because there is a LOT of craftsmanship in them. This handle I think is quite well weighted compared to the falls for a flogger of this price and I find it to be well made. The end of the handle has a small loop. If you have small wrists this could be used while you are flogging another person. The other use is to use it to hang up your flogger when it is not in use.

Next are the falls of the flogger. This is a full scene length flogger that you see if you went to a BDSM play party, or if you watched BDSM porn. The handle is 9.5 inches long and the falls are 20.5 inches long meaning the entire flogger is 30 inches from tip to tail. This flogger has two materials for falls: faux fur and suede. The faux fur is nice and fluffy. It is not the highest quality I have ever seen, but overall it is nice and soft and again is great for the price you are paying. The suede is quite nice. It is nice and soft. It shed a little bit upon first use, but nothing significant and after about 5 minutes there was no shedding. The faux fur falls are about an inch in width, while the suede strips are 0.25 inches in width. All of the falls fall nicely down in a straight line which is nice. and they are seem to be securely attached the handle. I have not had any of them fall out or any issues with them. The craftsmanship seems quite good. I counted 12 faux fur falls and 24 suede falls on my flogger.

The points or the ends of the falls just refers to how they are cut. These points are all flat across and not pointed or have had anything done to them. Some floggers will have them pointed to make the sensation more "stingy" and less thuddy". These flat cut across ends make the flogger more thuddy and better for beginners and those who like lighter less painful sensations.

Overall I consider this to be a well made toy. It does not use the most luxurious materials, but as I have said multiple times that is fine when you consider the price. I expect this toy to last quite a long time. The toy does not have much odor to it. But if you stick your noise up right next to the falls you will get a smell of leather and the faux fur. Overall I think it has a pleasant smell, but during normal use it is unlikely you will ever notice it.

I have not included it here, but in the personal comments I am going to talk a little bit about floggers in general, because one can be quite confusing, they come in lots of sizes, shapes, materials, designs, and it can be daunting buying your first flogger.

Overall this is a well designed full length flogger that I enjoy very much. It has nice soft materials that I would consider "thuddy". This flogger is not meant to cause serious pain. It is either a warm up or a cool down flogger or a flogger for someone who is looking for warm, thuddy, more gentle sensations. That being said if you swing this flogger hard you can cause some pretty intense sensations.

Performance

This flogger performed great. It is one of my new favorite toys. This toy does have some weight to it (1 pound according the manufacturer), but even with the weight my girlfriend found it nice to swing. The handle was a good size and after playing around with it a bit she a place comfortable on the handle where she could swing it easily and with pretty good accuracy.

From my perspective (the person being flogger) this provides quite wonderful sensations. The flogger as a whole is quite gentle. The materials are nice and soft. Like all floggers you can get a variety of sensations out of it. Depending on where you hit on the person's body, what part of the flogger you hit with, how hard you swing, how far away you are, the angle you swing at, and other factors as well. So you can get a large of number of sensations from this flogger. Most of them are in the milder, softer, warmer, thuddy range, but if you swing hard you can get some definite sting from the suede falls.

As I mentioned earlier this can just be used without swinging it. It is very nice to just gently run it across a person's body. Run it along their thighs, chest, even face, and you can get a lovely ticklish, soft, erotic sensation. You can run a flogger along any part of a person's body, but you should not swing this at all of a person's body. The joints, face, exposed bone (such as a hip, ankle, or hands) should not be flogged. When flogging a person you want to hit meaty, fleshy parts like the chest (or breasts), thighs, the buttocks, and certain parts of the back)
    • Caution needed
    • Good for teasing
    • Thuddy

Care and Maintenance

Floggers do take some care to them. It is hard to encapsulate all of it in a review. But here are the basics.

Most floggers are never cleaned. This is because washing a certain area on the falls will cause it to change its shape and this can throw off the entire flogger. They are mostly just left alone. If you do have to clean an area because it got bodily fluids on it use some soapy water and just dab at it a bit until you clean up most of the fluid. Getting suede wet kind of wrecks it so there are special cleaners for it. Again there is always the balance of keeping the flogger clean and not trying to wreck the integrity of the flogger. Air will actually kill most bacteria after long enough. If you were to hang it up for a week it is pretty safe to say there are no more bacteria on the flogger, but you can never be 100% sure. Sunlight will kill bacteria faster, but it will dry out the leather and cause the colors to fade, so I would not recommend it. This is a light flogger so it is unlikely you will ever draw blood with it, so this really is not much of a concern. If it does happen I would suggest reading up on it. There are some really good resources if you just google it.

It is best to hang a flogger up to keep the falls in their original condition and not to get any folds, bends, or kinks in them. If you cannot hang it try to store it flat (so not bending any of the falls) to keep it in the best condition. You will want to store it in a cool dry place. You do not want any mildew growing on the leather or faux fur.
    • Difficult to store
    • Hard to clean
    • High maintenance

Packaging

This toy comes packaged as seen in the following photo.

It has a plastic covering and is folded in half. It is definitely not discreetly packaged, so if you are worried just open your box in private. The packaging is very minimal which is nice in my opinion. I would not try to use the plastic. It is good to keep your flogger exposed to some air flow and it would be a giant pain to try and get it back in the plastic.

There is a small tag attached to the handle with the flogger. It does not really provide any useful information. It just gives some basic info about the flogger.
    • Minimal
    • Not discreet

Personal comments

When you are first buying a flogger if you do some research it can be rather daunting, just because there is so much information and variety in floggers. So I have tried to provide some concise information about them.

First decide what kind of feel you want. There are two words used to describe floggers. Stingy or Thuddy. Stingy is a more intense feeling, more painful and is more similar to a paper cut for example. Or think of being whipped by a shoe lace. This is typically not what a beginner wants. Thuddy is a warmer, less painful sensation. You can think of being hit by a pillow here. This is typically what a beginner might want to start out with.

So next is material. The material is going to change if you get a thuddy or a stingy feeling. The most thuddy material is suede. It is very light and soft, then comes leathers (the softer the more thuddy, the harder the more stingy. So deer hide is very soft and thuddy, but cowhide is a bit harder and slightly more stingy), then comes plastic which is even more stingy. Braided leather is also going to be quite stingy.

The fall length is also important. The longer they are the more momentum you can get and the more force you can apply. So a long flogger is going to have more force than a small flogger.

The fall width also changes the property. As the falls get wider it will be more thuddy. As they get more narrow it will provide more of a stingy sensation.

Those are some pretty decent basics when buying a flogger. I would suggest everyone who is serious about using one goes out and reads about them. Especially before using one, because they can harm somebody. For example you never want a flogger to wrap around a person and hit their stomach. It is then hitting organs and not muscle/fat and if you swing hard enough you can hurt a person. So just be safe when using a flogger. Go slow before you start swinging hard. A lot of people recommend practicing on a pillow before using one on a person. So just go out and find some resources there are some really great experts out there who will give you lots of advice of how to do it safely and make the person being flogged enjoy it the most.

Experience

One thing I have not done, but really want to do with this flogger is to use it with our Aslan suspension cuffs. The idea of having my hands above my head and being completely exposed and then flogged on my butt, my back, and my chest is super exciting. So that is just a potential idea for people. To tie your partner's hands above their head and have them standing. That way you have lots of room to swing, you have access to all parts of their body, and you can have a really fun and intense flogging session.
