For your corporal punishment fetish.

If you're one of those kinksters who enjoys the look of a beaming red tiger striped ass, look no further. This cane is all (and probably a bit more) than you need. I've collected all of the canes this site has to offer, and without a doubt this one is the scariest. This isn't something you'd want for your first. In inexperienced hands this cane could become dangerous, but us well traveled kinky folks will see the glory of this mighty beast.

Use

Canes are a very common tool in anyone's BDSM toolbox. They're very intense in their approach and one of the most commanding impact play tools. It offers the victim a serious attention grabbing sting as well as wonderful red life stripes they can take home with them. When used with an exceptionally strong hand, canes have the ability to break the skin, which is not something the average player is looking to do. In other words, if you're not into the type of pain that leaves you with a bruise for a few days you might want to avoid this powerful beast of stick.

Canes were originally used as a corporal punishment device because they can leave a major hurting on the person being caned. They are a punishment in several judiciary systems and are utilized for moderately serious offenses. That's right. Canes don't play around.

This one in particular is suited to advanced and experienced BDSM enthusiasts because it's pretty easy to go overboard with. If you haven't perfected your caning technique yet you may want to look elsewhere, as this one has the ability to inflict serious damage if not used properly.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

Bamboo is a classic material for canes, although it is not the most ideal. It is reasonably strong and stuff but can splinter if used with too much force or not handled properly. From Wikipedia: "Contrary to myth, bamboo is unsuitable, as it is too brittle and rigid, and easily breaks and cuts the flesh." Another reason why this one should be left to the well traveled kinkster. The bamboo of this cane, when compared to the other bamboo one I own, is very rigid and has no give to it which means that it has a lower likelihood of "wrapping" but it offers a slightly more blunt hit because of the lack of flex.

The cane is composed of a leather handle with metal studs running down the length of it. The design of the handle offers a much more comfortable and secure grip than those with a straight or slender grip. The stability it offers allows for more controlled swings as it does not shift in your hand with each blow. The handle is not something of super premium quality, but it's functional and ergonomic. The bamboo is secured (slightly off centered in mine) with what looks like a sort of resin. It seems moderately well secured. At the end of the cane is a rubber tip. This is the first time I've had a cane of this sort and it does offer a little bit of weight and balance to the rather slender and light bamboo. The tip also adds a little bite when it comes in contact with the skin. Considering that this cane is 40" long, it's significantly longer than the others that you'd find out there.

Performance

Canes are my personal preference when it comes to impact devices. I love stingy sensations and the good crack sound when it comes in contact with the flesh. The stripes it leaves behind can be incredibly sexy, as well. Who can't appreciate a beaming red tiger striped ass? Canes are much less thuddy than paddles which offer more of a dull and slight burning sensation when used.

Because of the price and look of this cane I wasn't expecting it to be the monster it is. Normally, I can take a heavy handed swipe with other types, but this one means some serious business, especially with that rubber tip on the end. When it first arrived I gave my self a moderate tap on the calf with it, because it's much too long for me use it on my arm like the others). Holy hell. It takes a lot to get me to wince, but this one did it, and with a lot less force than the others. The friends I usually test these things on were much too intimidated by it to let me come anywhere near them. Because it takes little force to inflict some serious stingy action, the bamboo works here, as you won't have to apply too much swing behind it. Just make sure you always check it before use to make sure it hasn't splintered or shown signs of weakening. A small amount of oil applied every now and then should help keep it in good condition.

Because of the length of this cane it is best used on larger areas of the body. The butt and legs are ideal for this sort of device. Some canes of this sort are used across the back and shoulder blades, but be cautious with this area, as it is home to vital organs which should not be the main target of flogging play. A light swipe or two may be fine, but save the heavier play for other areas. The bottoms of the feet are also a common place for caning but be warned that it is a highly intense experience. Never use canes across the neck or face. Safety reasons, you know. Start out with lighter stokes so that the sub can find a "comfortable" level of force. It's easy to go overboard with this thing.

Care and Maintenance

Make sure you store this carefully so that is doesn't put pressure on the bamboo which could weaken it. It has a small loop on the handle that can be used to hang it on a small hook or push pin. Oil it down with a natural oil to keep it moist. The drier it gets the more likely it is to splinter.
Follow-up commentary
Well, I ended up breaking this across someone's back. It broke near the tip, so I'm thinking about taking the rubber piece off of that and throwing it on there where it broke after I sand it down. It was fun while it lasted, though.
