Form Over Function?

These are really beautiful, fantastic cuffs... if you want a "slightly edgy" accessory, or are into very light bondage, but if you want cuffs for heavy bondage play, then these really are not the right choice for you.

Use

These are a beautiful pair of light restraints by Bijoux Indiscreets. They make gorgeous jewelry, and really are beautifully made, but these will not hold up to honest to god BDSM play. My partner and I play hard, and these are more like kinky lingerie than actual cuffs. If you use them for actual restraint, you will break them, however as accessories they excel. They're well made and beautiful, and my partner and I enjoy using them symbolically to handcuff ourselves together for fetish events if we don't feel like going the more traditional route of collar and lead. These are really symbols of bondage more than an actual bondage toy.

Personally, I'm fine with them being simply pretty accessories, they're good for that purpose. My girlfriend does not like them for use in the bedroom simply because if I'm going to be restrained she wants it to be with something that actually serves a purpose.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

These are truly beautiful cuffs, each "cuff" is composed of five strands of black ceramic beads strung on (as far as I can tell) fine silver wire. On each cuff there are three silver metal "dividers" which divide the cuff into four sections. At either end of each cuff is a silver metal bar with eyelets holding the bead-strung wires, and a separate eyelet that holds a lobster clasp at each end of the cuff. A chain held by two of the lobster clasps connects the cuffs when open. To close the cuffs, you hook the second lobster clasp on a cuff, either to any point on the connecting chain, or to the other lobster clasp on that cuff.

This can be a bit finicky as the clasps, much like jewelry clasps, tend to spring shut if not held properly. Closing these cuffs is definitely not a one handed job, and sometimes can still be a bit difficult as a two handed job.

However, again, they are beautiful, and not difficult to adjust to most wrist sizes, and they're very comfortable. You can also stack them on one wrist and wear them as jewelry.

They're well made, out of nice materials, and if used for their intended purpose, they should last a long long time.

Performance

these are decidedly not heavy bondage cuffs, despite being well manufactured, they are made of fine wire, and the chain between them is not particularly heavy. Just how you wouldn't expect the chain of a pendant necklace to hold up to much tugging, this chain won't either. If you're into anything harder than symbolic bondage in bed, these are not the right cuffs for you. However, they're so pretty even if they're not suited to bedroom use, I really enjoy wearing them as jewelry, and out to fetish events.

My girlfriend and I did not enjoy these for sex, but then again we were not expecting to. We're a heavy BDSM leaning couple, and light bondage play just isn't for us, but if that's your thing, then these are a pretty nice accessory for it. Just knowing if I struggled I could break them killed the mood a little for me, but again if you prefer light bondage, or are just experimenting, these are fantastic, beautiful and very non threatening looking.

Obviously the beads are a touch uncomfortable if the wrists are positioned in such a way so that the beads are digging into the skin, but that's fairly obvious.

Care and Maintenance

If you do manage to get these dirty, they're a bit difficult to clean, as they have... a lot of little beads to clean between, but I sincerely doubt you'll be getting them dirty, generally just treat them as you would any other bead bracelet.

The packaging is particularly pretty, a little black cardboard sheath with a beautiful floral design in black on black and a red label over a black cardboard box (lidless) with a square indent for the cuffs.

They're still gorgeous and holding up perfectly, admittedly they're still useless for bondage but they make gorgeous jewelry and make lovely fetish wear for photoshoots (I do a little fetish modeling)
