From mild to wild, in the flick of a wrist

When looking for a good impact toy, it is easy to be swayed towards those that are well refined with beautiful handles. However, if you truly appreciate a minimalist approach, and simply want a good whip that will work well, you shouldn't pass up this one.

Use

Like many couples who first begin to experiment with S&M play, Jewels and I were rather clueless when it came to the implements of flogging. Some of our first purchases were actually those cheaply made, thin leather crops and cat-o-nine tales that pop up in stores around Halloween time. While these toys served as decent introductions to the world of whipping, they are quickly out grown. If you are like us, and ready to move on to a toy with a little more bite, then the Leather Whip by Spartacus will certainly fill your needs. Depending on the skill and force used by the one wielding the whip, you can experience anything from a light slap to a very “motivating” sting.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

The whip itself is nothing particularly fancy. With a handle comprised of a strap of leather wrapped around it and a simple D-ring at one end, this is most certainly an example of function instead of form. Even though the design is simple, it works well. At no point during the use did any of the leather wrapping on the handle even begin to loosen.

As for the business end of the whip, it is made with 14 leather “tails”. These “tails” are made up of the same leather laces used to create the wrapped handle, and at 15” in length, are the real body and soul of the whip.

Performance

For Jewels and I, we started off with some mild activity until she was confident with how to use it properly, and what actions change the feel of it. Over a month, we built from light play slaps to serious lashes. With very little practice, Jewels was able to easily adjust the pain level to meet her needs.

Overall, the ability to go from mild to wild has made this one of our go-to impact toys.

Care and Maintenance

As with most leather items, cleaning of this is not really possible. As there is little or no contact with bodily fluids (except perhaps sweat and tears...) there should not be too much concern with sharing this between partners. Of course, if there is ever contact with blood or other bodily fluids of that nature, it should be either disposed of or relegated to use on only the source individual.
