Tantric satin ties ankle cuffs by Cal Exotics - review by Cowgirl-Cutie

**Since I have both the Tantric Satin Ties Ankle Cuffs as well as the matching wrist cuffs the reviews are pretty much identical, however, I'll be doing my best to add more detail for this one.**


The Tantric Satin Ties Ankle Cuffs are made for beginners who are curious about being restrained. Honestly, how many of us in the beginning knew we liked being restrained? Not many do right off the bat and for beginners cuffs can be intimidating especially if you have never tried anything like them before. Cuffs like these are perfect to test the waters. They are soft and won't leave any marks or bruises which for the majority of users is an absolute must although with the ankles it probably doesn't matter as much as the wrists since ankles are easier to hide. The Velcro closures make it really easy to get out of these cuffs if you should find you don't enjoy them or if you start to panic. As always I suggest keeping a pair of safety scissors nearby just in case, although I don't see why you'd have to cut through this pair since they attach with Velcro.

These cuffs are even more beautiful in person than online. I like them well enough but I do have a few issues with them. In my opinion one should know just by looking at these cuffs on the website that they are not intended for serious bondage or suspension play. Depending on position they can be very easy to escape! They are also a tad bulky, especially for smaller ankles.

I think they are extremely pretty when worn with fetish wear while at a play party or even a sexy “vanilla” costume. In other words I have found them best for looks only. I have received many compliments while wearing these cuffs. The ankle cuffs have hardly any weight to them so it's not a big issue to wear them for long periods. You may even forget they are there!

The best thing about this set is the affordability and wide variety of size options. When I first bought these I was heavier so I needed larger cuffs for both ankles and wrists but since then I have lost weight and have had to tighten them up. This is where the bulkiness comes in. For smaller ankles this set will likely be too bulky but for larger ankles I bet they'd be perfect since they fit a wide variety of sizes.

As previously mentioned these cuffs are beautiful. They are sold in black and red but I would love to see more colors for this set! For the price I feel like the craftsmanship is perfect. Usually when you buy cuffs priced in this range they are very cheaply made. I have even had some fall apart before. As long as you are not participating in heavy restraint and bondage while wearing these you shouldn't have any issues with them breaking. While these cuffs may look delicate, I think they will hold up over time if given proper care. I have had my pair for about six months and haven’t had any issues with durability thus far. I don't see them lasting for years and years but with the price being so low it's not really that big of an issue.

The design is truly gorgeous. And since they look like a corset why not pair them with one? I'm certain that most of us on the site love the look of corsets whether you're male or female. I think these cuffs are the perfect companion to a red and black corset and ruffle petticoat with stockings! These are so well made for their price range that they could easily accessorize a more expensive outfit. The only thing for me that gives away the cheapness of this product is the white tag on the inside. If these cuffs are fitted flush against the skin then you won't be able to see the tag but I would still suggest cutting it out.

The main materials involved are polyester and metal with Velcro closures. They hook together in a key-chain like manner that I personally do not find that pleasing but I enjoy a tighter fit that I can't escape easily. And when the polyester materials come together it can seem scratchy if touched against the grain. I do find that if lube is near them then it can leave stains and can be quite difficult to remove. So keep the lube far away!

The ankle cuffs are 13 1/2" which is a lot of room to work with! I have yet to see most companies offer sizes this large. The width is about 2 3/4" and for this set that is a good width since the material is so thin. My ankles are 10" and I still have a lot of Velcro left over so if you have large ankles these may be perfect for you. Just for comparison's sake I measured my wrists since most people don't have ankles as large as mine. My wrist is about 7 1/2" and at that point the Velcro was barely meeting anymore and definitely didn't meet enough to keep me restrained. So, if by some chance your ankles are smaller than this they definitely won't fit. I would guess that the smallest you could go would be 8"-8 1/2" but even that would be pushing it. I'm not kidding when I say these are quite large! As mentioned above they close with Velcro which is great for beginners since you can easily get them off if something should occur. The black and red of the product is striking with each other and a black ribbon adorns the ensemble which is why this set resembles a corset.

The cuffs themselves were very comfortable but even at a heavier weight they still felt bulky on me. I didn't measure myself at all to the cuff size when I bought these. I would not suggest doing that for anything you are buying. Always measure and you will be much happier with your purchases! Honestly while I like these cuffs had I measured my ankles I probably wouldn't have bought this set. So while I once feared these would be too small in reality I had a lot of room to play with. The extra Velcro strip that was left over was far too scratchy to leave on so I had to trim it up. These cuffs are extremely plushy which for some could be perfect and for others it can be annoying. While I do like this pair and find them aesthetically pleasing I do not like the bulkiness as I prefer cuffs made of leather. That is all preference though as the material feels like another world compared to leather or steel. They will not bruise or leave any marks and for the most part are comfortable to wear. The weight of the cuffs is so light that you will most likely forget that you are wearing them.

I mentioned in my review on the wrist cuffs that the more weight I lost the more the wrist cuffs would loosen on me and eventually I would have to wear them as ankle cuffs. As far as the actual ankle cuffs I don't know what I would end up doing with them! For that reason I believe these will fit just about anyone.

When I asked my hubby his opinion on the cuffs he says they are very pretty but he doesn't like for them to be used during play. He likes to watch a good struggle while I'm restrained and these cuffs, unfortunately, don't allow for a lot of struggle.

When I bought the ankle cuffs I also purchased the wrist cuffs. Once I received my shipment I couldn't even wait for my husband to come home from work before trying them on. Right away I felt how plushy they were and it was obvious that they would not leave a mark on me. At the time that was important for me but not so much these days.

I do find that if I struggle the least little bit while wearing these they tend to bunch up and twist around. These cuffs have to be put on fairly tight in order to not do that and even though they are both flexible due to the material and plushy it can be extremely uncomfortable if put on tightly. I have since moved on to leather and steel but I have always felt that it is extremely important to be comfortable during any kind of play. I don’t see how this set could make anyone feel otherwise (other than if the cuffs are tightened to the point of being uncomfortable which can happen with any pair). I find these cuffs perfect for those just starting out or for those who have never tried restraint yet are curious about it.

My husband and I have never used these in heavier play and the more advanced we get the less this set gets used. I have enjoyed them and even though they have their issues they were certainly worth it while we were starting out. These cuffs can certainly restrain you but I can't really say too much on how long these cuffs would last into heavier play but I can guess that it wouldn't be long.

The care and maintenance for the ankle cuffs is exactly the same as the wrist cuffs. As long as something serious doesn't happen to the cuffs then they can be fairly easy to clean depending on substance. I find that lubes in general tend to stain the cuffs if left on for too long due to the material. If you get to it quickly enough no stains will be left but who really wants to stop in the middle of a moment to clean your cuffs? I really don't find stains on satin cuffs to be attractive.

I've always just wiped my pair down with a damp washcloth and sometimes a small amount of hand soap. I have marked them as high maintenance just because I am the type of person who really doesn't want to have to worry about keeping my hands away from lube or similar materials. I want to concentrate on my partner and sensations.

Also I would keep them away from sharp objects as the material can be easily torn. I believe that the material could also snag easily as well.

As far as storage goes these are very easy to store. I apparently have a cuff fetish so I've made mine a little special. I have a three drawer storage unit that I got at the Container Store and in the top drawer I keep my cuffs. The Tantric set is simply set in there but I tend to care for my leather ones a different way. The great thing is, you don't have to store your's this way. These are so soft you could hind them under your mattress or in your normal toy box.

The packaging is SO far from discreet! The cuffs (both ankle and wrist versions) come in a clear plastic box. The picture on the front features a male and female model in their underwear with the female sporting both the wrist and ankle cuffs. I personally don't like to keep the boxes that any of the products come in because I have separate areas I have found that I like better but I don't see any reason why the buyer would want to keep this box. The box would not last long but at least it would keep lubes from getting on the material. Although I wouldn't suggest storing these or any other set with your lube!

Yes, it's true that I said if I had measured my ankles I wouldn't have bought this set because I've always planned on losing weight. Once this is done I will be able to use the matching wrist cuffs on my ankles but I won't have a place for the ankle cuffs to fit. However, for those who have naturally large ankles anyway these are going to be perfect for you if you're into light play. This set is one of the only ones I have found to date to accommodate larger ankles and for that reason I was very happy with this product.

For beginners they will serve their purpose and I bet you'll find that you like these so well that you move on to a more durable product!

When it's all said and done I have enjoyed my time in these cuffs. Although I have moved on from this type I think beginners will find them a great stepping stone on their journey through restraint!
