Great intro to bondage!

Overall, this is a great light bondage kit, and I'm glad I purchased it. The fact that I can upgrade the cuffs and links means that the setup can evolve a bit with me.
Published: December 23, 2009
Pros:
Easy setup, great for light bondage, portable. Upgradeable for a more tamper-proof restraint setup.
Cons:
Cuffs and links could be more tamper resistant. 'Taco' risk if your partner is strong enough.

Use

Perfect for light bondage. Also good if you don't have bedposts or a bed frame. Not for those looking for a heavy-duty restraint system. But if you're like me and getting into bondage, it's a relatively inexpensive way to start, and you can upgrade this system with carabiners and better cuffs.

The entire kit is very small and light, so it's also good for travel.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The design is simple, but effective for a light bondage system that sets up in a few minutes, or less, if you have someone helping you. It's adjustable for different bed sizes, and I had no problem setting it up on my queen bed. Straps seem pretty durable. The Velcro on the cuffs holds against your partner's resistance.

Because of the cuff design and the attachment to the straps, a determined submissive can escape (though since you should never leave a restrained person unattended, you'll be there to flog them for trying to escape) a couple of different ways. One is to undo the Velcro strap, and another is to reach for the clip connecting the cuffs to the strap.

I'll probably upgrade this system by replacing the cuffs to something more tamper-proof, and replace the links with locking carabiners or something else that would be difficult for your partner to work her/his way out of. When I get around to replacing the cuffs, I'll probably get more cushioned cuffs, as my partner noticed some slight bruising on her wrist from her struggling, but this isn't an issue unless your partner wants to actively struggle against the restraints.

Performance

The restraints worked well. My sub struggled, and pulled on the restraints, but to no avail. A strong partner will probably be able to 'taco' the mattress, but for a partner that isn't fairly strong, this shouldn't be an issue. If your partner is a strong male, you may need a more heavy-duty setup, but for everyone else, I think this setup is fine.

The straps are easy to adjust, so once you attach the cuffs to the straps, you can crank down on the straps and spread your partner out. And they release quickly if you need to free your partner in a hurry.

Care and Maintenance

When done playing, I just detach the cuffs and store in my toy box. I tuck the straps under the edges of the mattress and it's hidden, but ready to use at a moment's notice.

A lot of cuffs will cause slight bruising with active struggle. These cuffs were felt, so it shouldn't have been too bad. If you want to avoid that bruising, you will want to look into well-made leather cuffs that are fur-lined on the inside. Good review, though.

@Juliettia: There are a dozen other reviews. Having everyone repeat details about the product is fairly useless. Frankly, it's something I find quite annoying in reviews. Too much flowery prose covering product details that are already listed in the product overview. If I want flowery prose, I'll read a novel.

@Mistress Kay: No, bruising wasn't bad, but enough for her to notice the next day (on her wrist, not ankles). She likes to struggle, and I like watching her struggle, so yeah, I might invest in more cushy cuffs.

Hey Kesterl, welcome to Eden thanks for the review, but please do not vote on your own reviews. That's a no-no. Smile

    • What creative ways can you guys come up with to use this system in conjunction with tethers and hip restraints.

We'll start with a simple one, Hog Tie: Simply have the person on the bed or floor on their belly and attach the wrist restraints to the their respective ankle restraints (from the behind, as in the ankles should meet the wrist around the lower back area)

What creative ways have you guys used this system?
    • I haven't got this one yet - it does look like fun though :-)

We just recently picked this item up. (Well, actually bf bought it and surprised me with it!!!)

We've only used it once so far and it's wonderful. Nothing creative yet, but maybe when we get the hang of it.

Are the standard bed restraint systems, such as 'under the bed', one size fits all for different beds? Could I use this on twin mattress and king mattress?
    • Well, Backseat Boohoo's verified review says she used it on an extra long twin and mine is set up on an extra tall queen. I know some folks with kings have found it a big small, though.

      Beat me to it!

For most beds, I think they would work. They worked on my extra long twin back in a dorm room, and they work on the full bed I have now. But I might draw the line at a king, yes, unless you want to buy an extension strap.
