Great starter silk!

For the price, this item is worth it. If you're on the fence about buying this, I found it's comfortable and holds up well to general wear and tear, other than the ends fraying.

Use

The best use for this product is definitely to give a decorative edge to a beginner learning how to use silk rope. It worked wonderful for me, learning how to tie knots and do very short ties. I had done a lot of research prior to using rope for the first time, and I think this served its purpose well. It also kept my wrists and ankles bound well when tied properly. So if you're looking for something that will hold your partner in place but you're unsure where to start with rope, this is a good starting point, especially for the price and quality. I think this product is more for beginners, but I'm sure advanced users will enjoy it just as much.

When I first took the two pieces of the rope out of the package, I fell in love with the feel of the silk. Granted, it's nothing special, but I had never felt silk rope before. The feeling is lovely, and wherever you decide to tie the rope, you'll be comfortable with it! This product will definitely not last you a long time at all, at least in my opinion. After a few minutes of just trying out different knots, the ends were starting to fray pretty bad. My partner and I had to get a lighter and try to secure the ends back together. We hadn't even used them for anything but testing out knots and very minor ties. This rope didn't have a smell.

You get 2 pieces of 6 foot rope in the package. Six feet is NOT that long, especially if you want to get into some nice ties. We had to adjust a tie to make it work with such a short piece of rope. I guess neither of us realized it wasn't going to be that long.

Performance

This rope worked very well for the purposes that I bought it for. I bought it mainly to learn how do knots properly with silk rope and learn very short ties. But I did get it to use it for play as well, and it held up to its purpose. When tied properly, it kept my wrists and ankles bound perfectly and comfortably. Other than the edges fraying from the very start, I've had no problems with the durability is this rope. I would say it met my expectations for the price.
    • Comfortable during use
    • Easy to put on / use
    • Holds up to use well

Care and Maintenance

To maintain the rope, I've found that I had to keep taking a lighter to the ends after every time I use them. Whether it was to practice knots and ties or actually using them for play, the ends fray easily. Which is not that hard to do, but not really want I expected I'd have to do.

To store it, I just wrap it up and stick it back in its box so I don't lose the pieces of rope. To clean it, just wipe it off with a towel.

Packaging

The rope is packaged very simply. It comes in a long, skinny box with Sportsheets written across the top. It has a couple in their undies with the woman's hands and ankles bound (which you won't have enough rope to do that, by the way), and the other side has the zoomed in images of the rope as well. There is also a little hole so you can feel the rope. The packaging is not discreet at all.

The rope was twirled together very neatly in the package. The only kind of instructions was a small slip of paper explaining how to do some basic knots. I was very disappointed that there was no safety guide included. I'm glad I know my safety!

Follow-up commentary
It's not that I don't like this rope anymore, I just haven't really used it much since the review. I've since moved on to longer pieces of rope, though this is still holding up alright. The edges have frayed enough to the point that I can't keep them together anymore, but it's not terribly unbearable. I still like them when I use them, though.

I was wondering about the durability of the woven rope. I've seen problems with the ends fraying; sorry to hear it needed constant maintenance! D: Excellent review, though.
