Handcuffs review
Handcuffs are great, and metal handcuffs are even better. Versatile enough for seasoned kinksters, but safe enough for beginners. Just make sure you're careful!Published: May 13, 2008
Pros:
versatile, easy to clean
Cons:
could cause injury if used improperly
I absolutely love handcuffs. They're fun, kinky, versatile, and can easily be used for both a quick liaison or a planned sex session.
First, let's talk about the versatility. Cuff the hands in the front, in the back, under the knees, around a bedpost, to chair.. the possibilities are endless. For people with small ankles, even more combinations are possible. Get four and cuff your lover (with consent, of course) to each post, spread-eagle on the bed. Like to roleplay? Add these to a blue button-up shirt and nice pair of thigh-highs (or pants, for guys), and you're a sexy police officer. Cuff that law-breaking lover up or cuff them to you until they can behave themselves!
Since these handcuffs are metal, that makes them all the more versatile. If they get dirty, you can clean them with soap and water - or even throw them in the dishwasher! They won't easily break, bend, or rust. Plus, metal is conductor. These cuffs won't get damaged by heat or cold, and your partner might like the sensory play that offers.
The quick-release on these handcuffs makes them much safer than other handcuffs without the option. Even if you lose the keys, you need not worry about the getting locked to the bed. If the kids or roommates come home early, a quick flick of each switch is all you need to escape. This capability is also great for beginners, because it gives them the mindset that they're not actually trapped and the ability to free themselves if they start to feel uncomfortable. For the same reason, this might be considered a downfall for some seasoned kinksters.
There are downfalls to metal handcuffs, though. The metal can dig into whatever it's cuffed around, whether it's a scratch on your kitchen chair or a bruise on your wrist. If you like pain, this is great - if not, you may want to wrap something around your wrists or the cuffs, or purchase a fuzzy pair. If you're too rough and not careful enough, this type of handcuff can damage your wrists. You should also avoid getting the cuffs too hot or too cold before use, so neither party gets burned or a cold shock to a sensitive body part.

Follow-up commentary
5 months after original review
Months after my initial review, these cuffs are still goin' strong. They've got a few surface scratches but are still fully functional - and they've been used, abused, banged around, passed around, thrown across the room... they definitely pass the durability test.

I was reading reviews and they seem to be at both ends of the spectrum. I love the price and simplicity of these, but are they painful?

I think it's mostly going to depend on your pain tolerance. Metal cuffs have the potential to be very painful, and some people enjoy that while others prefer something that hurts less.

Thank you for viewing Handcuffs – sex toy review page!

For $10 did you actually throw them in the dishwasher? I'm betting they'd rust or break.
I don't *have* a dishwasher, lol. But mine have been through all sorts of water and still have no signs of rust.
The dishwasher suggestion was from the materials pages here at Eden.
Sounds like they hold up pretty well!
Yeah, they're pretty rad.
