The Beginner Ball Gag is a great product. It's inexpensive, and works remarkably well to muffle the sounds of pain and pleasure. This is a good way to explore the fun of BDSM play.

My husband and I are relatively new to BDSM play. We’ve experimented with tying each other up and doing some teasing with ice and spanking, but that was it until recently. I’ve discovered I like to be flogged, and I get a bit loud at times when I’m being flogged or cumming (who am I kidding? I can rattle the windows with screams), so we decided that a gag would be in order. The Beginner Ball Gag mouth gag from Tantus was a great choice.
This gag comes in several colors, but we chose the black gag with black straps to coordinate with the rest of our bondage play items. The gag arrived packaged in two pieces – the actual ball gag and the leather straps. The black leather straps snap easily through the two holes on either side of the gag’s base and snap closed. They are secured around the head with Velcro, so they are easily adjustable to a nice, tight fit. The leather is smooth on the other side, and feels nice against your skin. Leather can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary.
The gag has Tantus stamped on the base (which faces the mouth when inserted). It is matte black, although the bottom part that is seen is shiny. The gag is made of silicone, so it’s easy to clean – it can be boiled or cleaned in the dishwasher to sterilize it. It is also odorless, tasteless, and phthalate free. The ball is 2 1/2“ long, and about 1 1/2" wide. It’s not too big to be uncomfortable if you’re not used to holding something like this in your mouth. The ball doesn’t allow a lot of tongue movement, and when the straps are tight it is nearly impossible to spit out. The silicone doesn’t seem to retain teeth imprints, so you can bite into the gag and not worry about damaging it.
So, does this gag work? Quite effectively. You obviously cannot talk, but it muffles screams and cries of pleasure quite nicely. My husband’s only complaint was that it kept my mouth filled with something other than what he’d like, but with the Velcro, it’s easy to remove and replace when necessary. This is a great product, and a good addition to a BDSM toy box!

I really like this gag. We use this quite a bit, and I have few complaints. My husband is able to get it on securely with the Velcro so it stays in my mouth well, and teethmarks don't seem to be permanent as yet. I do have to be careful so my hair doesn't get in the Velcro, but that's a minor thing.
I like the way this fills my mouth up and how it's odorless and tasteless. It muffles noise quite effectively when it's securely on, and it's comfortable to wear.
I've actually thought to get another in a different color for some of our dress-up play. I think we will be using this for a long time to come.

I love that the straps come off. Makes it so much easier to clean, yanno?
That was one of the things I really liked about it.
Do you think it would fit comfortably into a small mouth? Did it irritate the corners of your lips? I've tried using ball gags before but my mouth is tiny, & always seems to get sore from being opened so wide.
Well, I'm not sure. It fit in mine well, and I don't think my mouth is really big. It does taper down from 1 1/2" to about 1" or a bit less in diameter where it connects to the base, and I didn't find that it irritated the corners of my mouth at all, since it's not so wide there with my mouth around it. I really didn't feel like my mouth was stretched by it, or held open at an uncomfortable distance.

Thank you for the great review, I was going to ask at the beginning if it was easy for you to spit it out but it seems that you covered that already quite well! Did the straps stay in place pretty good with your hair or did it slide at all?
The straps stayed in place pretty well. They slid some at first, but we played with them a bit and got them adjusted so they wouldn't. I hadn't used a gag of any kind before, but it wasn't too difficult to get it fixed securely.

Good review! I probably have excessive saliva so to get rid of it prior to choking is important. So...can any saliva be expelled w/o removing the gag? Is it better then say a sock? Certainly looks better but does it function better?
That's a good question. I was able to swallow ok without too much trouble, and I think if you didn't close your mouth tight against the ball, you would be able to drool out the sides, but that was something I didn't try out. I've never tried a sock, so I don't know if it would be better for excess saliva or not.

It doesn't use any watch batteries (or any batteries). I'm not sure why that's in the product description!
