When I opened the box I was immediately hit with the scent of leather. Mmmm...
This paddle is black leather on one side with pretty pink stitching along the edge and pink faux fur on the other side. It has a little strap so you can hang your paddle up when not in use.
After I finished smelling it I ran the faux fur all over - I am a sucker for sensation play. Yes, it's a little silly to tickle yourself but it's all in the name of giving you a thorough review. The faux fur is soft and feels nice running over your skin.
Why would anyone want a paddle with faux fur on it? Well after you have warmed the skin with the paddle you can use the faux fur for sensation play. It helps to soothe the skin after the paddle and it offers a different feel than just running a hand over the sensitive skin.
The paddle itself is pretty inflexible so there is not a lot of give - please keep that in mind when using it on someone. Don't let the fluffy girly colour fool you this paddle packs a wallop! If you are a beginner, I recommend trying it out on your own bottom before taking it to your partner so you can get an idea of how hard to hit with it. Even light strokes sting so start out slowly.
The best part of this toy is that it can be used lightly for beginners or more severely for those advanced players. When using a paddle make sure you are striking the fleshy part of the bottom or thighs - steer clear of the tailbone area. When I tried it out I went fairly easy on myself just lightly peppering my bottom and believe me, it was a decent warm up. With a partner, there was no mercy. (Side note - you should always have a safe word when doing any kind of pain play so that your partner knows when to stop). Depending on how you use it this paddle can leave your bottom a pretty pink colour or when used more intensely you can leave wonderful bruising. The intensity level is up to you.
